  1. I'm currently in the nursing program at GPC. They tell you that you have two tries to take the TEAS but If you didn't score below a 65, I would not take the exam over. When determining who enters the program, the number of times you take the teas is taken into consideration, and anybody that scored the "passing" score on the first try would automatically be placed ahead of you. If you have a strong GPA and at least a 65, then you should be fine.
  2. My cousin currently attend Bauder's nursing program. They adviced her that they will be graduating her class but they will be the last group of students.
  3. She sent the nursing information!!!
  4. The wait is killing me as well! I called the nursing department this morning and the lady told me that they will be sending the information out before the end of May.. They are waiting to get all of the information so that they can send it out at one time.
  5. Thanks for the info! Where did you go for your CPR certification and how much did that cost?
  6. Wow.. well I will definitely be buying my book from another source.. Without counting the price of the books, how much did you spend on everything else?
  7. FutureGaRN15 If you had to estimate, how much money did it cost to prepare for the nursing program? With the cost of uniforms, shoes, CPR class, shots, background check, and etc being taken into consideration.. We haven't got our follow up email yet and I was just wondering.. All of that stuff seems pretty expensive. Also, did you guys get the books from GPC bookstore?

  9. What's the name of the book that they recommended for us to buy?
  10. Well good luck! I'm sure you guys will do great. It was an awesome class and I'm glad I took it. I'm sure we will see a lot of the stuff throughout the program.
  11. Its definitely doable! The only assignments that are graded is the midterm and the final. All of the quizzes are practice work and they all are available throughout the entire class. Her videos are available also. Being that the quizzes are practice assignments, You can take them as many times as you would like. Dosage and calculations is all about math and conversions. Math is my favorite subject so it was pretty easy to me.
  12. Kjewel36, I went to the website and I don't see anything about 6south or 6north.. What city should I apply for? I see a lot of opened positions for Hiram and Dallas.
  13. I went last Friday and submitted everything. I had to do some type of advisement planning with Mrs. Creel and get that submitted to the financial aid department as well. What a pain that was!
  14. Thank you so much! I will be applying. Should I put you down as a reference or will you just speak with someone after I apply?
  15. Okay.. Well that's good. I'm ready to apply whenever.. I'm going to summer school at Clarkston campus and I plan on being back up that way by the time the nursing program start. How can I apply? And my plan is to be PRN and try to work at least 2-3 days a week.
  16. Kjewel36.. I know you been working there for a while, but do you by chance know how much they start off paying CNAs? I've been a CNA for about 3-4 years.
  17. I'm going to summer school also. I'm taking A&P on campus and I'll probably take World Literature online. I'm really not looking forward to that but I have to either take Anatomy II over the summer or during my first semester in the nursing program! Smh! I would have taken it this semester but my work schedule was awful and I didn't want to take it online. Instead, I took 4 online core classes that I'll need for my BSN. I probably won't take Microbiology until next summer.
  18. Great! I took it online as well. It was easy but very beneficial!
  19. That would be awesome! I'm living in Macon now and if I do decide to move back to Macon, it will be in August when nursing school start. Is Wellstar a home health care? I would love for you to recommend me!
  20. I took the course last semester. Mrs. Buchholz is a great professor that make conversions very easy. For every type of conversion, she has a video that shows you how to do it. All of the quizzes are practice work, the only thing that is graded is the midterm and the final. The class is extremely helpful and I would definitely recommend it.
  21. My current job is pretty flexible because Geico is opened 24/7. I was planning on working a part-time late shift, maybe 6pm until 12am Monday-Friday. Right now, I'm working fulltime hours, my schedule is 1pm until 9pm. The part time schedule would work with the program but I know things would be pretty hectic working in Macon and going to school in Clarkston. I'm going to be actively looking for CNA jobs at the hospitals around Atlanta. I looked on Indeed yesterday. Grady Hospital and Northside Hospital had Patient Care Technician positions available. The schedule was 7pm to 7am.. due to the hours of the program, that probably would be the schedule I'd have to apply for.
  22. Hey you guys, I think this page was a great idea! I wanted to see if I could get a few opinions about something. Right now, I am currently working and living in Macon, Ga as an Insurance Agent for Geico. I am a CNA but I haven't worked as one in over a year or so. I'm wondering if I should try to get a job as a CNA at one of the hospitals in Atlanta. My plan would be to work overnight 7pm until 7am. That might be a little easier than trying to maintain a job in Macon and go to school in Clarkston. What do you guys think? Geico is a great job and it pays really well. I could see myself working at Geico for a while, but my dream is to be a nurse, and I'm not sure how that will play out if I attempt to live in Macon and just drive to and from school each day. I even thought about moving to McDonough or Stockbridge so that I would be halfway to work and halfway to school... I just don't even know! I'm thinking the CNA idea is great though,It might even guarantee me a job once I graduate. I'm just hoping I could find a decent job that would pay enough for me to at least pay the bills while I'm in nursing school.
  23. kjewel36 more than likely it is because you scored high enough the first time. She told me if you take it and fail it, but retake it and make an 80 on it, it would have taken you two tries to do what a lot of people did the first time. So they would naturally have a better chance at getting in than you. Which is understandable, but I wish they would just say that up front instead of saying you have two chances to take it. A lot of people think of that first try at the teas like a pre test just to see whats up there. Then they go back and retake it believing they still have a great chance at getting in when they probably just cut their chances in half.
  24. @mimipepper, How many times did you take the TEAS? I remember a while back when I was talking to Mrs. Creel about how to increase my chances at getting into the program, and she told me to score high enough on the TEAS the first time because they usually don't accept anyone if they had to take the TEAS more than once. A lot of people with great stats was turned down the first time they applied. I wonder if that could have something to do with it.
  25. It's a pleasure meeting all of you and I cannot wait to start nursing school :)! I'm 24 years old and I've been at GPC since fall of 2012. This is the first RN program I've applied to, but I applied and was accepted into an LPN program about 4 years ago; I never attended due to personal reasons. I'm currently attending gpc online full time and I'm working as a Geico Insurance Agent. I don't have any kids and I'm not married, so my biggest concern when I start the program is trying to maintain my career at Geico for as long as possible! I know I'm not going to be able to work as much as I am now, but I'm planning on working at least 30 hours a week. Unfortunately, I don't have a choice because bills still have to be paid. Are any of you going to work during the program?
