  1. Also would you recommend that I try to get degrees in both nursing and him? Clinical improvement specialist sounds like something I would be interested in. I hope the pay gets much better after the entry level positions.
  2. The strange thing is I've seen job listing for much higher wages after 5-4 years of experience. Idk this is so confusing.
  3. Yeah I can't blame you. That is barely above minimum wage. Sigh
  4. Wow I can't tell you how much I appreciate this reply. Are you telling me that even after I get a AAS and become a RHIT I would start off at 12 per hour and have a hard time getting a job. That is a little depressing. And after 4-5 years and rhia I could potentially make 45-60k? Thank you for your time.
  5. I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to ask them question but here it goes. What can you guys tells about being a RHIA or RHIT. Is the pay good (60k)? Is there a demand in this field. What traits do you need to be successful in this career. Is there a lot of interaction with other people. I have gotten some good responses on this website so that is why I am asking because I know it isn't a direct nursing question.
  6. Thanks for the response! Can I ask how you got that job?
  7. Or it is better to work at a hospital or nursing home or something. My question is if I am curious to later get my RN and go into case management or something. Will my experience there be helpful?
  8. She can at least show some empathy and get a case manager or social worker involved. Maybe she could even find a solution.
  9. I just wanted to give a virtual hug. I don't have any advice specifically but I've heard of this before for other professions as well. If you are struggling in the beginning (which is understandable) the employers won't communicate with you but just after a period of time they will just fire you. Sounds kind of unfair to me
  10. To me a school nurse sounds like a lovely job. I love kids.
  11. So many people are going into nursing I think the perception is changing and will change even more. At least that is what I am hoping.
  12. I'm sure your experience would help you in getting a job. Personally I would love if I could take that route but that's just me.
  13. I'm talking about doctors or maybe even friends or family. My uncle once said with a disgusted look on his face e don't do nursing they have to give bath and stuff. My friend's boyfriend once said the work is demeaning since all they do is wipe butts. Hearing these stories are really sad. They are misinformed and very cruel. All of us will one day be in a situation where we might need help in that type of way.
  14. I want to hear your stories how much have you seen in nursing schools. For a lot of you this was probably your first time experience so tell me what was going through your head. What made it less awkward and more comfortable for your patients
  15. Is this a stressful division of nursing? I read a thread that staying too long in LTC is bad for your resume which I thought was confusing. Seriously what is the deal? Do you situations you encounter are life and death. Is there a lot of dirty work which is turning people off?
  16. Thanks again for all of your responses. It really helps me out. And I hope more will reply as well.
  17. I liked your example of how the RT person. It addresses the situation but you don't accused of being too sensitive or too aggressive. Thanks for telling me about your experience.
  18. Thank you for this response. Very well spoken and it gives me something to think about. And I would love to hear from you, an experienced nurse filled with insight. That makes a lot of sense about how it is about learning to deal with people. I've never really thought of it that way. Maybe I lack a bit of social intelligence which hopefully experience can change (though I am guessing it is a tough process). I think my bad people skills makes me come off as weak and sometimes I start seeing myself in a victim light. But thank you for your advice it is about getting along with people and handling potential difficult situations effectively. And no matter which profession I go in there will always be this factor. Now how do I get less afraid. Just take it one day at a time?
  19. It is hearing stories like this that scares me away from this profession even though all the careers I want are in this profession. Sigh. My life is going no where.
  20. Working in this field I would appreciate hearing what are your suggestions for people who are depressed, socially anxious, no friends or love life, overweight and have low self esteem and no good career prospects. I would like hearing from a nursing perspective.
  21. I'm curious to know if you guys in nursing school really feel like this profession has bullying. Do you find it hard to work with your classmates? Do you like your teachers or do they scare the life out of you. One of my biggest fears is being bullied and it is what holding me back from pursuing this profession.
  22. that sounds really nice! Someone I know is developmentally disabled so I have a particular soft spot for that.
  23. I liked your description of patient advocate because I feel like a lot of times many patients get lost or neglected in the system. Especially mental health which I feel at times isn't take seriously. How long does it take to become a case manager after you get your rn license?
  24. Thanks for your response. I'm not sure how to personal message. But I could really use some advice and help from someone who I would hope would be a mentor. I would love to talk to you further. I'm pretty stressed out.
