  1. You will have to ask the board and not sure what they will tell you since you were not legal to begin with. I find it amazing that they did not tell you this up front. Your school is the only source that the BON receives documents. You might check other states. Good luck
  2. thank you for joining this post. The students do this as assignments.
  3. kputman posted a topic in General Students
Group B here is your informatics question. Think of a clinical setting how will the information you have learned assist with continuity of care?
  4. Here is your discussion board topic> Due on MAY 9th at 2 PM The most secure method of authentication in information technology is biometrics. What is your ideas on hospitals storing different biometrics of the employes for purpose of allowing access the electronic health records.
  5. lbosi, This is some thing we all need to remember. Chart what you see
  6. jlight, I like the statement that you document exactly what you see, That is an excellent way to think about it.
  7. J Peredo, Very good reflection and good observance. Sometimes I wonder if nurses who want you to just review the chart actually reviewed the chart themselves. Interesting KPUTMAN
  8. K Strohm You have stated some of the issues other people have concerning "turning your back on patient" We do need to be cognizant of that fact. It needs to be redesigned so that no backs are turned.
  9. When it comes to Electronic health records explain the statement that interoperability is not possible without standards. Others beside the UT students are very welcome to join in our conversation
  10. Samantha, You are realizing that when some one enters data that they must have integrity or it really is falsifying information Kputman
  11. How has Point of care technology changed the way we care patient in and out of the hospital?
  12. Jauclyn, This is an interesting point, that the older the patient, the more likely you will not see the total picture of the their health record. kputman
  13. Support the statement, the computer is a tool for informatics , but not the focus.
  14. UTGH1- Not sue what you mean by successful and productive life with a cell phone. The phone can never take place of education. I guess it depends on what you mean by successful and productive. One still have to know how to spell and read for the smart phone to work. Being able to know 1-10 numbers also helps. You are correct in that we now have a well enlightened public (or so they think) concerning personal health. We need to teach clients that everything that is out there is not evidenced based. Kputman
  15. UTGH2- You are correct in the fact that the devices have changed the way we approach health care. Additionally if you were not around when pen and paer was used and stored you have saved your self a head ache. When a patient was admitted the physician would ahve to write (old chart to floor) to have a nurse or secretary retrieve the record form then medical records. You can imagine the time in having to search the records. Sometimes if the person was admitted at night, the records could only be retrieved when someones open medical records.
  16. As an instructor, it is very beneficial to have a very good background in math and science.
  17. FlyingScot, Most people without realizing it will become tense in a situation such as this. It does take getting re-exposure to see if that is what happened.
  18. I am an instructor.
  19. I will be posting weekly for University of Tennessee nursing students. Different groups will be required to reply to a post and also reply to each other. Any one interested (outside the nursing school) is also welcome to reply. My goal is to exchange ideas and cause purposeful thinking. Here will be the query for the week beginning March 21-March 28. How do you see the rapid development of communication devices changing society in general? How is it changing Healthcare?
  20. Madison G have you looked into Amazon's rent a text/ It might be helpful. Not sure about nursing books. KPutman
  21. Goodness-flows. Ask yourself. Are you pursuing an associates degree or a BSN? Do you need Sign language other than to bring up a GPA- If not do not take. How well did you do in physiology, you need them both so complete them both while in the mind frame. Is Chemistry required in your program or the program you are pursuing. If so take it separately if possible. It is difficult for some (science and math combined with a lab) You may delay your progression , however if you make high grades you should progress. When being considered for admission, instructors look at math and science grades. That extra time will not make any difference in a few years when you are a Nurse. If you write down the date you were born and a dash representing your hopefully long life, the small dot representing the years preparing for nursing school and being in nursing school will be a very small dot compared to the rest of your life.
