  1. Hello Kimmie24 Thank you for the advice.. I was thinking about maybe Montefiore, but do you have more suggestions, in terms of other hospitals I should consider?
  2. Hello all I am planning on applying to a few hospitals this summer for a nursing externship/internship. I just competed med surg1 last fall (yayyyy), I am going to Peds and Maternity this spring. I have a few hospitals on my list, but I am particularly very interested in NYU Langone. However, I am kinda nervous about some of their requirements. For example, they require a 3.5 or higher GPA and nothing less than a B in science and pre-requite courses. I do have a GPA of 3.5, however I have two or three pre-req courses that I got a B- and even a C+. I need advice, should I still go ahead with the application? or just forget it and try other hospitals?? Please people I need advice.... what should I do?? I read a few comments on how people did their nursing externship/internship in NYU Langone, how was the interview process, and particularly are they really really really strict with the grade requirement??
  3. WOW!!! That's great!!! I hope I get that lucky with jobs when I graduate!
  4. I would say to weigh out your options and explore the community colleges in your area if there is any... if not i would say just go for it and don't let the money scare you, mostly if being a nurse is your dream!!! I'm starting my RN program on the 30th of this month and my tuition is $30.000 a year so I understand your concerns. I guess the positive thing is when you graduate, you have a job that pays good then hopefully you pay out your loan gradually. About the online or in-class option, I think nursing school is not going to be easy and taking these classes online may be very challenging to do alone without a community of students in class helping each other out.. Good luck in your decisions though...
  5. hello RunBabyRun Thank you very much for your suggestions, i definitely find them helpful!!!
  6. hello Tangiabballa the application process was really easy in terms of speaking to someone from the school on how to fill out the application, what GPA was required, and all that.. they were very helpful.. the only part that was a little challenging for me was passing the TEAS V test which is needed also because i was transferring from another college with all my prerequiste. so i had to study extra hard for that and even took some prep courses to pass it. But other than that the school was very helpful in answering questions that you might have concerning getting into the nursing school. And the application process was not bad at all and I'm from the Bronx..
  7. Hello everyone I just got accepted into nursing school at New Rochelle, I start in Jan of 2014.. I was wondering if anyone knows about grants or scholarship for nursing school? I can really use extra money that can supplement my tuition and for nursing books, mostly when my federal loans are not covering all the payments. So if anyone knows about grants and scholarships i can apply for please let me know.. The information will be highly appreciated!!!
  8. I think this a very good advice mostly because I will start nursing school in Jan of 2014.. I'm so nervous, but great advice!!
