  1. Sorry to hear about all that. What a joke. Such as shame as the NHS really needs any help they can get. I've been doing reg on and off since 2012. I've just recently decided to give up. Not worth the time and effort, and once I arrive I'll be earning $$$ less. If you go through an appeal, might also be worth referencing the NICE Guidelines if it helps.
  2. It needs to be within 3 months old from when you hit submit on the application- so if you were to submit everything today, it could be oldest November 5 2016
  3. I've decided to pull out myself. Why risk it? For me coming from Australia, I will be earning $35-40k less than here. With living expenses, rent etc the same cost. Plus as you said, the OSCE....the pass rate for first time is only 48%?!?! Just crazy. Pass rates and number of candidates
  4. You might have to consider something else- because in order to qualify as a Registered Nurse in Aus, you need recency of practice. In Aus, nurses are already qualified before entering new graduate programs, so it's not really applicable to your situation given you won't be able to register. In any case, new grad positions are few and far between even for Aussie newly qualified nurses, and I'm not even certain that they can give them to non-citizens. Check out the AHPRA and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia websites :)
  5. Happened to me too! They took 5 WEEKS to locate my documents- I spent so much money on special envelopes/tracking internationally. They said it was 'misplaced' and that there was a 'problem with the scanner' just really silly excuses. My recommendation would be to: call every working day and follow up. Share tracking info and dates etc with them, and get them to go hunt it down! Get each person's name you speak to too- they go to more of an effort knowing you have their name on record :)
  6. Hey, what do you mean steal money? What would you suggest to those wanting to work over in the UK, as an alternative to this company? Have you worked at all in the private sector?
  7. I did my new grad in surg wards before changing to theatres- and haven't looked back. Apply to the roles anyway. Follow up via phone. Try to stand out. Write a really great cover letter and resume and you'll land something eventually. See if you can do some informal visits too- it's a good way of getting a feel of the workplace culture of a unit. There is nothing wrong with wanting a change- you can't go on forever working in that environment if it's causing you so much turmoil! Good luck.
  8. Honestly I would just call them, maybe they can reset your file from your end, if it is a technical glitch.
  9. It has to have been issued within 3 months of when you submit your application- so yes a new one unfortunately
  10. I know it used to be 2 years- might still be the same. Best to call to double check
  11. No I didnt- it's not super necessary. The CBT is a lot about common sense. It sounds like you would be fine with what you've studied. If you go into my profile you can see a post i made about a year ago about what I got in the CBT- good luck
  12. Yes this happened to me. They requested additional documents which I sent, and the tracking numbers said signed and delivered at the NMC office, but it took them 5 WEEKS to locate the documents. No idea how they could get 'lost.' They said something like they had problems with a scanner? No idea. Anyway, if you do not want to wait any longer for them to try and find the documents, next time you mail, get tracking included :)
  13. Anyone had this happen? I had my application assessed back in September- and further additional documents were requested. The NMC received these, but someone at the NMC, re-submitted my application online, and now all old correspondence has disappeared, and they are saying wait 70 days again. Why is this?! I just sent them my further requested documents, it isn't a new application. Now I'm afraid they will think my police certs, refs, etc, are out of date. And should I have to wait 70 days again? Thanks
  14. Hey guys- this is also happening to me! I spent $100 on expressed tracked mailing to NMC, and it's been received 1 month ago but they say they've misplaced it!!! Argh!!!! Now everything delayed. Anything specifically you guys did to follow up, or someone to complain to?
  15. Hey there, I'm Aussie too and waiting for my DL. But I'm confused about your post re the entry visa- which one is this? I've been under the impression a COS and Tier 2 visa must be issued before leaving Aus for UK? Is this not your plan?
  16. Hi what do you mean by this? Are you saying they will now test more complicated skills?
  17. I would strongly recommend writing a complaint about this. And it shouldn't matter what kind of mood he is in or what day you test, they are testing your competence only. I think they take video footage of all tests, so they'd be able to go back and assess. I'm assuming you paid a second time to re-do? Good luck
  18. Oh my god! Is that an actual joke?!?! This whole test is sounding more and more like a scam!
  19. Entry level in the public hospital system is approx. $1,142 per week for 37.5 hours work. This excludes any leave or overtime pay, casual/sick loading, etc etc. Private hospitals you may get paid a little more.
  20. Unless you go back to university in the UK to study nursing, I'm not so sure you'll be able to register as an RN there. Because student/HCA jobs you might pick up won't count as RN experience.
  21. I'm assuming you mean them accepting your home registration status given it would expire soon after they receive the documents. It can take 40-70 days for them to assess your file and reach a decision, so if you send all docs by end of October, you might be in the decision queue still by December. This actually happened to myself, so I just got my home country registration board to re-send the updated licence while still in the queue, if that makes sense. Re your second question, I've heard it's possible to get a conditional COS and work as a pre-registered RN or HCA, but my understand is is that this is only allowed if you've received a confirmation to progress to OSCE stage. So, no, you have to wait.
  22. Hi everyone, good luck in your OSCE's :) I'm still waiting for my DL, but to be honest constantly worrying about the OSCE- seems like so so many people are re-sitting- what a joke! How far in advance of your test did you start studying? Thanks :)
  23. Hey guys- anyone still waiting to be deployed with CTN? I'm considering appying elsewhere, as Ive got my own London housing and they said I need to be aware I may be sent outside of London, cannot give me any guarantees of deployment etc. Which is not really good enough considering I'm in private housing and funding everything myself for them. Any thoughts?
  24. "For all intensive purposes" "Play it by year"
  25. I guess it depends on your specialty, location, and potential for any career progression, if this is a factor for you. I would check out the NHS staff surveys as a good place to start your research. NHS Staff Surveys - NHS Staff Survey 2
