  1. Did you apply for this year or are you just looking into the program?
  2. Thank you - I'll check it out ?
  3. I would join. Let me know if you set one up ?
  4. Hi - I just sent in my application last week. I had seen some good info on last years thread for the LP-RN program when I started looking into this program. From what I can tell, its basically just like studying for the LPN NCLEX. I think this is the tread. Are you guys local? Are you applying for online or in person?
  5. NurseBritt1 - Last spring was the 2nd time I applied to the RN program so I've only taken the TEAS but have heard the Kaplan is similar. When I didn't get into the RN program I decided to get my LPN instead and am in a program right now. I get done in November and am hoping to get enough hours to be able to apply for the bridge for a Fall 2020 start. That sounds soooo far away ? If you don't mind me asking, where did you go to school for your LPN? And how long have you been an LPN?
  6. Hi NurseBritt1 - I took the TEAS at LCC when I applied to their RN program last spring for a fall start. After you apply and you are in their system you will get an email (mine came June 1st) with a link to sign up for your test. There are a bunch of days available from the end of June through the end of July and you just pick the one you want. I plan on applying to the LPN to RN next year and would love to hear how you guys do. Good Luck!!
  7. I didn't get in either. I was contemplating applying for winter/spring but am afraid I'll just end up in the same boat and even further behind. I've been looking into Sumner and think I'm just going to end up going that route. It's more expensive but I'm tired of waiting. Some nurse friends I have said they hire a lot of people from Sumner and to get started instead of waiting for an affordable spot in a CC program. The sooner you get done, the sooner you're making a nursing wage to pay it back :-)
  8. I'm in Vancouver... I wonder if I will have an answer today? I don't get off until 8 :-( The stress of waiting to check the mail is killing me?
  9. Congratulations - That's so awesome!! Was winter 2019 your first choice?
  10. I went there a couple years ago and Maryann's was great. I've never had a CNA job though, I just did is as the requirement for my nursing pre-req's. I don't think it really matters where you get your CNA cert. at as long as you have it. The place that we did out clinical at would often higher the students. If your looking for a certain type of CNA position, I think that experience would be your best bet on getting one of the higher paying jobs. I did the afternoon/evening class and I want to say it was 2 days a week with maybe 3 Saturdays for clinical.
  11. TrueAngelNurse;9907369]Hello all, I am trying to get into LCC campus based nursing program. I got an 80.7 on my teas, which I am hoping is going to be enough. Does anyone know if the total applicants is 20 for all program types or 20 for each program type? As there is LPN to RN, campus based, and online. For LPN to RN I believe they take 10 for the campus based and 45 for the online program.
  12. I only applied to LCC. I live in Vancouver and while Clark is closer, unless you have almost A's you're not getting in. Winter/Spring scores give me a little hope. I guess for now I'll just cross my fingers and hope make it. Shoot, I'd even settle for wait list for winter quarter!
  13. Those are both great numbers! I was really hoping to get low to mid 80's on my TEAS but it just didn't happen. Did you have healthcare experience? I don't and I think by not having them is really going to reduce my chances of getting in this time. If I don't get in (which I'm not holding my breath for) I've been looking into Sumner. It's more expensive but I'm tired of waiting. I called Bev earlier in the week for something else and she said she thought they would go out the second week of August. Last year people new by the end of the second full week so I'm thinking we will should know by the end of the week of the 13th.
  14. Hi - I took my test a couple weeks ago. I got a 78.7 on my TEAS and have 72 admission points. This was my second time taking it as well (73.4 last July)and was really hoping for a higher score this time. How did you do on your TEAS test?
  15. Hi Everyone- I'm going to be applying "again" to LCC for a Fall 18 start. Ideally, I would like to get into their RN program but, if that doesn't work out I have been looking at Sumner's LPN or RN program's as an alternative. I was also curious for those that are doing the LPN to RN program at Lower Columbia, what school did you get your LPN at and did you feel prepared? At this point, if I don't make it into the Fall 18 start at LCC, I will more than likely end up going to Sumner. Since the cost is significantly more that LCC I'm not sure if I should do the LPN then bridge or just bite the bullet and get it done. The one thing I like about the LPN to RN bridge at LCC is that I would have more options of where I can do my BSN. So far, I haven't found anyone that has been in the Sumner LPN or RN program in Portland recently and would really like to hear from some people that have gone to be able to get their thoughts on the education they received. Thank you!!
  16. Hi Medical Millie - I was just looking for info on the LPN and RN programs at Sumner in Portland and came across your post. I haven't gone to an info session yet but am thinking of checking one out in the next week or 2. Just curious to see if you stared what you think of it so far. Thank you!
  17. Hi schanelJ - Do you mind if I ask what you got on the TEAS just to know if its worth my time to even apply to the RN program. Thanks
  18. Did you apply to Sumner's ADN or LPN program. I didn't make it in for fall at LCC so I'm kind of looking at other options as well. At this point I'm still undecided if I want to just enjoy some time off until I can apply again or keep pushing on and find another program.
  19. Hi Olivia - How's A&P II going? Only a couple more weeks left :-) I'm so glad to be done and able to apply, but at the same time I'm wondering if I should retake a couple classes I got B's in or just spend a lot of studying for the TEAS test. I'm just really stressed that I won't get in. This is going to be along 6 months.
  20. Hi thewhitechickoj. Thanks for replying. I just got done with A&P II, Statistic, and Psych 100. I'm finishing up my last 2 pre-req's (nutrition & diversity) during winter quarter and applying in spring for a fall start as well. Hopefully we will be in the same class!! Do you know anyone that has gone to LCC? I've been really curious as to what the TEAS scores are and GPA's have been for the acceptance. Thanks - Pinky
  21. Just checking back to see if anyone has any insight :-)
  22. I think if you've done the research and know for sure what classes you need to take, do it and get them out of the way. Both of the CC's in my area require all nursing applicants to have all of the Bachelor's pre-req's complete prior to program entry. It's been a pain to get all those extra classes done but in the long run it's nice to know that once I get my ASN I can immediately apply to a bachelors program.
  23. I'm currently taking A&P II online and I can honestly say that it is so much easier than A&P I in a classroom/lab setting. While it is a bit more self taught but it's nice because if you don't understand a concept you can just go back and listen to it again, do some research and then move on. On top of that, you can do it all from home whenever you want!
  24. I was hoping someone could give me some insight on Lower Columbia College's nursing program. I was all set on going to Clark and now the more I look into it I think LCC might be a better fit. If anyone has an input as to which one they think is better or recently attended either, I would love to hear what you think. Thank you!
