  2. Humber second entry question

No problem! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask ?
  3. Humber second entry question

It has been very demanding, but manageable. I'd say half is an exaggeration, but I think we started with around 90 students and were down to 60-something at the start of this semester. Some failed out, but some chose to leave for other pursuits. Humb...
  4. Humber second entry question

The second entry has their own curriculum for the first year. It is not until the following fall semester that you join up with the regular program for two semesters (fall and Winter), before separating again in the final Summer.
  5. Humber-UNB Second Entry Nursing 2020

Hello, I'm entering my final semester in the program, before consolidation semester. After the prep semester, you are still in the same cohort with fellow second entry students (separate classes from the 3rd years). It isn't until fall of the next y...
  6. Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Has anyone heard from York second entry?
  7. Humber College Second Entry (2018)

Does anyone know anybody in the program? I'd love to hear comments about the program. I'm particularly interested in how many class hours there are per week, how many days a week placement is in the first year, and homework load. Also, how large is t...
  8. Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

I received a conditional offer too. The condition was that I finish the high school chemistry prerequisite with at least a 70%. I got my offer on Feb. 1
  9. Nursing school acceptance 2018

Congratulations! I just got accepted into Humber's 2nd entry program yesterday! Super excited :)
  10. Humber College Second Entry (2018)

I just got my acceptance into this program yesterday! Anyone else?
  11. Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2015)

For U of T, they only use the courses from your degree program to determine your GPA. York looks at your cGPA, your last 30 credits GPA, and your GPA in the prerequisite courses.
  12. Advice, please

Unfortunately I don't think your GPA is competitive enough for U of T's program. Maybe you could look into taking a bunch of classes to increase your GPA. I don't think this would work for U of T though, because I think they use your GPA from your de...
  13. Day in the Life of a Freelance Nurse Writer

Thank you for sharing. Is it difficult to find enough work as a nurse writer? How does the pay usually work? Is there typically a per word rate, or does it vary a lot by the job?
  14. exhausted all options..

Have you tried to get a student line of credit from the bank? A friend who was not eligible for OSAP did just that.
  15. Not sure whether to continue

Do not give up. Come up with another learning plan, like your instructor suggested, and go from there. I don't think you should transfer into the PSW program unless you have no other option. You want to be a nurse, so keep trying! You said it's not y...
  16. Hello advice and thoughts

You should be able to get into a practical nursing program in Ontario if you complete the high school prerequisites. Look into taking the prereq's through ILC. You can complete the courses online and at your own pace. If you are interested in receivi...
  17. York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

Is there a reason you want to wait until September to take it? I've scheduled mine for August, that way there's no concern over getting it done amongst classes.
  18. York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

Probably your best bet is to take some more university classes this coming year and try to get your GPA up. Ideally take some that will also work for your prerequisites, because they sometimes look at that average as well.
  19. Wanting to be a nurse

Your best bet is to go to each university's website and search for their nursing program. There you will find the high school prerequisites, and any other requirements there might be. They will be similar from program to program, but there can be som...
  20. York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

That link isn't working for me but yes, it's the CPP .pdf :)
  21. York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

You should get your police check done mid-June, ideally. You can enrol in the CPR course online. It takes place at York. It's best to do that in August so you can use it for next summer too, rather than having to do it again before the summer semeste...
  22. Humber vs. Ryerson. Help!

    From Ryerson
  23. Humber vs. Ryerson. Help!

To play devil's advocate, one negative I hear about Ryerson is that you don't get to choose your final placement. I'm not sure if you get to pick at Humber, but maybe you should look into that. It would be nice to be able to choose where you end up o...
  24. Humber vs. Ryerson. Help!

I would choose Ryerson, but that's just me. From what I hear, both schools have great programs. Do you have any preference in terms of location? Ryerson is downtown and close to lots of hospitals, as well as many other things to do in the city. Humbe...
  25. York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

I believe the cGPA is calculated with every class you have ever taken (whether in your first undergrad degree or not).
