Yeah I’ve decided not to attend here. I’m going to apply to WCC instead.

I agree! I’m considering changing as well. Where are you thinking of going? I really want to do a quicker program.

Helen Fuld 2020 LPN to RN and COVID 19
Hi everyone! I was supposed to start in April that is now June. I got the email about the Castle Branch zoom meeting which is incredibly inconvenient because it’s in the middle of a work day. I asked for the schedule as well and received no concrete answer. It’s hard to plan our lives if we don’t know the schedule!

Helen Fuld 2020 LPN to RN and COVID 19
Hey guys, so I finally got an answer. Although I applied before the deadline, the next class is full, so I will be considered for the fall semester. Prereqs start in April, so I guess I’ll just start those. Thanks everyone for your help!

She didn’t have to take the TEAS at all? What was her experience in the program during the pandemic? I know! I have to do prerequisites and I’m afraid I won’t be able to start this term because I won’t be ready in time.

Yeah, I tried that email. I’m not sure what’s going on. Sigh. Thanks for your help!

It’s now been a week with no answered emails. Can anyone in the program tell me how it’s going? Also, should I just take the TEAS without them contacting me first?

Thanks! I've emailed them twice. I'm not sure what else to do, and I'm getting a bad feeling that they don't respond timely.

Helen Fuld 2020 LPN to RN and COVID 19
Hi everyone! My app has been verified by nursingcas, but I'm not sure what the next steps are. The deadline was Dec 14, but I haven't taken the TEAS yet. Should I just take the TEAS or wait for the college to let me know when to take it? I'm trying to get into the April 2021 class. I'm really confused as to what to do next and no one is answering my emails. HELP!

SW Boces Entrance Exam
I will be working in a correctional facility. I registered right after graduation and I took my NCLEX in August and used the Kaplan class and their resources to study. I suggest you take your NCLEX ASAP. I liked the Kaplan course, although I know people who passed without it. I studied everyday for 2 hours, and it never felt like enough. I wasn't 100% confident. I was nervous but I passed with 85 questions. Looking for jobs was tough. I would suggest taking a vacation after graduation or after NCLEX. Then when you come back, job search. I was looking for a specific schedule so it was difficult for me. Also, I knew I didn't want to work in a LTC facility or home care. They will appeal to you first, but I would say don't settle for a job you'll be miserable in. Keep searching and don't give up. There will be a lot of jobs that treat you like a CNA or med assistant. Don't take those. You are a NURSE. I applied to over 100 jobs and went on a dozen interviews, maybe more. I wanted a place where I could build and work as a NURSE.

SW Boces Entrance Exam
I start a new job on Monday, so we'll see how that goes. I have positive thoughts about it though. Clinical valuations are pretty easy the clinical instructors tell you what you just need to work on for the next rotation. Everyone passes the first rotation because it's your foundation. By the second rotation is when people may start to fail clinical. The gerontology project was really a presentation on whatever part you're working on. I think you talk for like five minutes and then they just pass everyone really. I never had to make up time in clinical but those that did have to do so, they had to do it over Christmas break. If you are half an hour or 15 minutes late to clinical you end up making up an entire day.

SW Boces Entrance Exam
Post grad life is not as less stressful as you would assume it to be. It's a struggle finding a job that's not LTC, skill-less, or pays pennies. The gerontology project I actually had a different part and used my med-surf textbook for. It wasn't clearly explained to us at all, so we were just as clueless as you.

clinical
I didn't know you were that close to graduating! Sheesh, I see why you're in a pickle. I was in the same predicament in my clinical group on my last rotation with nursing students who couldn't even do a finger stick. I would do my assignment and not really worry about anyone else's. I would also keep quiet. When I thought my instructor had no clue what was going on, she really knew everything. Do what you think is best!

clinical
The majority of my clinical groups never knew what was going on. As well as the majority of my group projects, I did most of the work. What I will tell you is, those people never made it through the program. Your clinical instructors will pick up on it. I say be a team player, and share your information. In the end, you'll see how it plays out.

Is this a dream? Medical Coder to LVN
I say, do it! The best way to get your foot in to nursing is as an LVN/LPN. Then if you wish, you can always continue to RN.

New job seems sketchy
The thing is, they did get back to me. I start tomorrow at job A. If I decide not to continue after the first week, do you think I should still give a 2-week notice?

New job seems sketchy
Just wanted to let everyone know that I went on the interview! This second job seems so much better than the first. Now, I'm not sure what to do. Should I still try this first place out? I'm supposed to start tomorrow at the first place, and I told the second job I would let them know by next week. Do you guys think that's too long for me to give them notice? I need feedback!

Too soon to apply for jobs?
Where do you live? Some places will hire you before you take your boards. I started applying before I took my boards, and some places offered me a position with them. Dependent on my boards, was whether I would get a pay raise or not. I'd say go for it.
