  1. Congratulations! I hope you have fun with your toes in the sand! :)
  2. I just started my first semester of nursing school two weeks ago. I am in a ADN program and then I will enter an RN to MSN program. My mother is a nurse....she has been my entire life....she works once a week now, but it keeps her busy. I thought about nursing school on and off for a while, but I always found a reason not to take the leap and go for it. Me and my mother were involved in a car accident that almost ended my life 15 years ago. The accident occurred two weeks before I would have started my junior year in college(my first undergrad). I suffered a TBI....on paper I should not be alive, but the Lord had other plans! In rehab, I was told by therapists and some nurses that I should go to school to be a nurse or a therapist....at the time I remember thinking, are you crazy?! I just wanted to graduate from college and nursing seem like more than I could handle! In 2008, I married a Neurologist....he had just completed residency and I really began to feel the Lord telling me that we could help others in their need together(through missions and free clinics...I think the need is only going to get bigger) if I went to Nursing school. I finally decided to listen to Him! With the Lord and my husband's help, I will graduate December 2015! I'm really excited and a lot scared, b/c I turned 37 in November, so I can't afford to have to repeat semesters....I'm determined though!! :)

  4. Thank you to all the people who have posted! I will be starting an ADN program in January and I like reading the different views! I have previous degrees, I hope they help. I don't have to work, but I think I will in the summers! I have a great support system....my husband a doctor(that is a blessing)! I've been to Air Force basic training, so I can handle the mental games and I know to NEVER cry! I think much of this has to do with what we make our minds up to do!! Failure is not an option for me!!! Good luck everyone!! :)
  5. Mandy, I love your name.....it's mine, too!! So, I feel an automatic connection! I am also a non traditional student with a family! Soon we will both be Nurse Mandy!! I am starting an ADN program in January. I am completing the final prerequisites for a BSN at the same time, so I will only have a year or so to complete a BSN degree once I am an RN! Good luck to everyone starting this new journey!!
