This is really taking a toll on me...#Vent
I feel you! We all feel you! This virus is so unpredictable. Some get mild to no symptoms and others die, the scientists are trying to figure out why, for us the frontline, it's causing us anxiety and depression, we need each other during these awful times, we try to laugh and take pictures together before and after our shift, we're helping each other in ways we wouldn't normally cause we're all in thus together. Stay safe and God bless you.

Am I a coward for going on FMLA due to COVID?
You did the right thing, reusing N95's is dangerous for us all, especially for you and others with chronic issues. 3 RN's have died from this already in NY. Stay safe and take care of yourself. We are playing Russian Roulette here.

Suggestions for ways an unemployed new grad nurse can volunteer medical services to help out during the Covid-19?
New York needs you right now, Cuomo has made it easy for nurses from any state to come here, you don't need a NY license, get in touch with NYSED and see what they can do, I believe accommodation can be arranged too. When other states get bad, we will return the favour.

What is it like in your hospital right now?
I work in a hospital just outside NYC, I work in ICU, we've been rationing our N95's for about 4 weeks now, we get one a week to re-use, we got face shields too that we clean after every patient, we're very worried we won't have enough when in gets bad in a few weeks. Very stressful for our ER staff too and our EMT's who get these patients first. NY is full of great people willing to help though, I'm praying we'll get through this and never make the same mistakes again.

Any Hospitals Hiring in NYC or suburbs?
Try another state further south if you have means to move, many offer relocation fees to help with the expense. I found in NYC the hospitals don't even let you know if your being considered, you can find yourself unemployed for a long time and the longer you leave it the more undesirable you become as you no longer have recent nursing experience.
