  1. Ya I think you have to work at the highest license you hold, unless you just recently obtained that license. When I was a CNA I was given 6 months to find an RN job before the hospital would terminate me, as they said it's a conflict to work with RNs and not report something if needed, etc. plus, nothing is more annoying than working as a CNA knowing you are an RN. Luckily I found a job pretty quickly.
  2. My daughter is a frequent flyer at her school, and I've told her numerous times to stop going to the school nurse for a "magic cup of water or a hug" and the nurse has even admitted to me "well I do coddle them a lot so they like me". Sure enough she came walking home off the bus with a second degree ankle sprain, good and swollen bc she didn't go to the nurse bc she was afraid of getting scolded by me (I'm not a school nurse) and her teacher even told her that for a sprain there's nothing they can do. My husband and I say her down last night and explained the boy who cried wolf bc we told her nobody took her seriously bc she was always in the nurses office.
  3. MA def doesn't offer a temp license.
  4. Oh and I did research average salaries but would like to hear it from those out there!
  5. Hi! I'm an RN with a year HH experience. I will have my BSN in June and have recently been asked to interview for my company for a Case Manager position to open up. It's for a rather large company in MA and deals primarily in HH, and LTC. I literally have NO idea what kind of salary to ask for. I'm out of Boston, MA. I currently work nights and want to make my switch to days worth it if I can. Any advice on CM salary around the New England area? Thank you!!!
  6. How about you be an adult and take a test. A hypothetical pregnancy is just that.
  7. Limelife Planners are where it's at! I love mine!!!
  8. I live in Quincy
  9. I make 29/hour but I work in Weymouth. But I get a Veteran pension as does my husband.
  10. I took the TEAS during A&P 1 and before micro and 2. I suck at science btw (weird I know) but even taking those classes I don't think I would have done any better. I rocked the rest of the exam, so my 45% overall in science wasn't a huge deal.
  11. Not impossible, but no branch are accepting ADNs, as Bachelor's are required for commissioning.
  12. But the 1stSgt, unless directly overseeing health care recruiting, doesn't have much to do with it. Not trying to be disrespectful, as I stated previously I was a SNCO as well, but from my experience and research healthcare recruiters have their own set of rules and goals, and don't have much to do with regular active duty/reserves. They have their own quotas that normally Active/Reserve green side personnel don't have much to do with.
  13. Having a good head on your shoulders (your opinion), as well as research will not adequately contribute to your decision. I was an active duty Marine for 10 years and spent my 21st birthday in Iraq. We are not at war right now (actively), so you need to have about 5 back up plans for your "dream" of becoming an Air Force nurse. Injuries happen, plans change, military demands change. Don't base your life on this one thing.
  14. My average with Uworld was 71. I took 12 tests I think and when I sat for my boards I passed first try, 75 questions. I was a very average B-C student and excelled at clinical. Feel free to message me with any questions.
  15. I have been a home health nurse for 6 months, since the week after I passed my boards. In this time, I've gotten trach, vent, g tube, and various other expertise and experience. I get paid more than my classmates, who are all mostly in acute care, long term care facilities. I love my job. As a New Grad I've been able to sharpen my skills with one patient but I work independently (which I love).
  16. Trust me, we had a bunch of those in my class. As well as those that "appealed" and got their grades changed (i.e. 63/73 (which is passing)) and guess what? We graduated 7 months ago and they are on their 3rd or 4th nclex attempt....and I've been in my RN job for 6 months. It WILL catch up to them.
  17. I had that exact community health clinical. I was part of a pilot program and I loved it. The independence was awesome and I had a nurse there to check everything I did. Good luck! (Side note, this isn't Quincy College is it?)
  18. Army Medic....I just graduated their day program as well and I have to concur with my classmate. Daycare/childcare issues mean absolutely nothing to them. They give you what they want. On the bright side, you are a Veteran yes? 5% of their slots for the full time program are saved for Veterans. Ensure you have your DD214. There were 5 of us in the program throughout the 2 years. Message me if you have questions. It's a good program and I will tell you my boards were easier than any test I ever took ag Quincy. I took my boards three weeks after graduation and passed in 25 min with minimal questions. I was your average B/C student but did well in clinicals. I go to Currys BSN program now and I'm flying through their tests too!
  19. She quoted me so I got confused. Sorry!
  20. Actually no. I don't regret doing it. I was never charged bc I didn't put in the right info. Gave me the good pop up.
  21. Worked for me, I used am incorrect exp date. I did it to my hearts content bc I knew my exp date was wrong. Everyone in my class that did it and got the good pop up passed....and those that failed, their card was declined
  22. Loving these tips! I just got started on nights and the first week was the worst! Slowly but surely getting used to it and keeping up my fitness as well!
  23. Yep. And ATI counts for 12% of your grade, there's 6 exams, and 4 quizzes. A friend of mine is in the part time (last semester) and asked me to pin her and she was telling me about the new rules the Dean put out.
