Hello! Long story short there is no “one size fits all” approach to preparing for the interview/essay. When selected for an interview they’ll let you know what they want you to write about. This was the first year they had a writing portion for the interview and I’m not sure if it will be done the same way. I know some applicants tried to preemptively write and then memorize their essay - some were accepted, some were not. My best advice (for all programs) is know why you want to do this, know how to articulate it. Also understand how your clinical experience will make you a good candidate. Finally, over prepare for interview(s). There are multiple good question banks online to prepare for interviews. Go through them, understand and learn the answers to the questions - you may not need them for an interview but it will help with your confidence and make you a better bedside nurse (which will also help with your confidence and also better prepare you).

keep applying to multiple school and stay focused. don't loose hope ! Check Cedar- Crest College in PA. That a brand-new program. They are very approachable. But I encourage you not to contact Union, ask them what to do to be a competitive applicants next round. Good luck !

Do not loose your hope. You will never know. People get in multiple schools, and they will go with their 1st choice. So, wait list people still have a chance to get accepted. There will be about 10-15 people on waiting list after the last interview on March. Everyone has their own score when interview, but they do not share it. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to send an email to the director. Union university is very good school and People are very very nice.

Kaiser is no longer "the least expensive" program. 94k for IN-state, 133k for OUT-state. And the cost of living in CA is not cheap ...

The director told me that I was qualified for the interview. Once they knew how many candidates would be interviewed, they would contact me after the application deadline. Is it a for sure interview invite ? lol .

I personally think you should stay in ICU ! PACU is not considered ICU. It depends on the schools. Most of the programs love their applicants having more years in ICU.

This Program starts summer session. Applications for summer 2019 are accepted on a rolling basis. And just like last year, this thread is for all ppl that are waiting for hear from the University of Pennsylvania DNP-NA 2019. A thread to assist eachother with questions, preparation and ideas. I got an email saying that my files were completedand under review on March 1st. I called them today, and the verynice lady that I spoke to told me that it would take a couple of weeks beforethey send out the interview invites. Good luck everyone .

As the program continues to grow , a maximum number of 30 students will be accepted each year into the program to maintain the high educational standards set for our graduates.

I am on the waiting list too, not at LSU, but different school. Waiting is tough; esp, when you set high hope ! I am treating the alternate list as a soft "no" for me. Yes, I had to get everything ready; but I told myself if I got in this year, great !. If not, next year I'll be a better candidate !~ Sometimes, it is hard to say, but there's nothing we can do. We tried our best already. One year to wait, is nothing, for what we really want do for the rest of our life. Patience is a key ! Now everything is done for this year! I just put it to the side, and keep working hard and moving on! whatever happens, happens for good and it happens for a certain reason .. Good luck !

Was the grass greener? I personal think everyone has different experience. I know a few NPs are not happy with their jobs, they decided to be a CNRA. They love it . One of my friends who was a CRNA, did not like it. He decided to go back school and be a FNP. He now works in a Student Health Center in one of the Cal Sate Universities in California. He wished that he would have not gone to CRNA School. "I really enjoy the ASC setting, endo in particular"

Since you are still in college, I sincerely suggest you to shadow a CRNA, not only one time, but multiple times. Not in just one hospital, but different ones. Not just in OR, IR, but also the private clinical settings. What do they really do, not just intubate patients, and manage their vs. What do they do when they are on call and the hospital calls the Airway Management. Talk to SRNAs, or CRNAs to see if you want to committee your life to Anesthesia. It's not that everyone like it. First things first. I suggest you contact the schools that you are really interested in applying in future. Most of the CRNA directors will guide you what you need to be competitive; and work really hard to archive them all. For example, I contacted multiple schools when I was in my college. They told me to study hard and get highest grades that I could. Shadow, volunteer, and do mission trips if you can. Get involved to your nursing school. Be active in nursing clubs. Apply to all of scholarships. Work really hard while you are in school. It's worth it. And I am telling you why. After graduation, you need a job. You really need strong letter of recommendations from the nursing director/professors in your school showing your leadership abilities, how helpful you are. Then you get a job. If you get an ICU job, great. If you got an ICU position in an academic/level 1 teaching hospital- Awesome !!! But if not, take anything that you get offered, then work your way to get to ICU. How ? get certifications, nursing conferences, networking. You again work hard to get the best ICU experience that you can ... then move to the next steps! ICU experience .. You work in an awesome ICU where you take care of the sickest patients. Now time for you to get CCRN certified (TNCC, ect...), take GRE, and get a good score.After one-two or three years, be a charge nurse, precept new hires, join any ICU committee, get involved and make your unit better... why? you need VERY STRONG letters of recommendation from your Manager/supervisors/coworkers later ! I can tell you ....a million things what to do to be competitive, and I am still working on it myself. The bottom line is ... Little by little. "Rome was not built in one day". I hope your overwhelming desire to be CRNA never fades away !!! But again first things first, and you have to do it WELL ! Get highest Grades that you can, volunteer, get involved in your school, shadow, graduate, study hard for NCLEX, pass it, and get a job... Good luck

Hello, you should call them and ask what it means. From what I understand, if they really like you , they usually contact you within 2-10 days. If you are good, but not the best .. you may be on the alternate list for "further consideration." ?!?! Then they will interview more people (remember it's rolling basis for this Program). Hope you will hear from them soon. Congrats on completing the interview. I know waiting is not easy, just like us. we are waiting for the interview invitation!

Daisy, sorry to hear about it. But do not give up my friend. I haven't heard anything from them yet. My friends (2) and I applied to LLU. One got a phone call after the interview 4-5 days. One got a rejection letter last weekend. Its been 5 weeks already. So I decided to email Ms. J, I hope she will give me an update on my application status. Waiting is the hardest part !!!

I guess we have to wait until April 1st (deadline) for the interview invitation.

not yet, I submitted my application on Feb 10th. Yesterday I called and they put me on hold, checked it, and told me that my files are still under review. And they will notify me any updates as soon as possible.

I think every school is different. the best bet is to contact the schools that you are interested in.
