Any Philippines educated nurses who took the NCLEX? I can use some advice
As mentioned above, there are several Philippine graduates who have successfully hurdled the NCLEX. It is a statistical fact though that repeaters tend to fail exams again and again.

CRNA vs. RN
How does one manage to get her/himself through CRNA school if he/she is single and self supporting? I heard that you have to be a full time student and employment during school is not advisable.

Aspen U
They're CCNE and DETC/Nationally accredited although I wish they're regionally accredited as well. I wonder what's stopping them? Other online only schools like Walden and WGU are. There are lots of advantages if they are RA.

Isn't the employer suppose to pay for your travel?
I always have the impression that travel expenses for seeking employment is a tax deduction. I may be wrong...

Burnout, bad hours, heavy patient load, what to do??
do not use loyalty as a reason to stay in a job because they can just drop you off the rolls for any reason they deem fit or for no reason at all.

CA RN License and TIN
Hello everyone. I recently found out about a recruitment agency based in Makati that assists CA NCLEX-RN passers obtain a permanent license by using a tax identification number instead of the SSN. Sure enough I was able to find the names of said applicants in the CA BRN website as having a permanent license. My questions is: were they able to renew their license without being asked for the SSN again? Responses from those who actually went through this route will be greatly appreciated. Facts and actual experiences only please. No opinions.

NURSE ATTORNEY from PHILIPPINES to USA
the most reliable poster here would have to be Itzallgood since she is now a US nurse attorney who obtained her bsn and law degrees from the Philippines. others just give their opinion and pitch in either incorrect or irrelevant information.

Western Governors University MSN
Is anyone here enrolled in the WGU MSN program? I'm seriously considering enrolling in their MS in Nursing Education program. Please tell me about your experience with the university. I'm looking at starting classes either in September or October. My reasons for pursuing graduate studies via distance/online ed are not unique but one thing that draws me to this university is that they are one of the few non-proprietary online-only schools around. I work for one of their "partner hospitals" and would be eligible to apply for their nursing scholarship and also avail of a ten percent discount (per their admissions counsellor) on tuition. They released an announcement that they have just received CCNE accreditation although I still can't find their name listed on the CCNE website. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Capella PhD in nursing education
I was viewing the faculty profiles of St. Francis University's (Joliet, IL) school of nursing and 2 or 3 of their professors received their PhD's from Capella U. You may want to e-mail them about their experience with this university.

Is there any online MAN/MSN program in the philippines?
I may be wrong but I always had the impression that online MAN programs in the RP conduct their tests in a satellite location and hold practicums within the country. Can overseas based Pinoys enroll in these programs?

Have a cultural sensitivity question:
we use a sign that says "Please See Nurse Before Entering Room" in our hospital

which grad school should i choose? MAN or MSN?
How about the online MAN at PWU and Lorma? If cost is important, nothing beats PLM. Don't touch the Philippine College of Health Sciences with a ten foot pole. They churn out MAN's faster than sewage spewing out into the Pasig River. LOL! I've also read about this 7 or 8 month MAN program offered by World Citi College. And I thought FEU's 14 month fast track post grad program was quick :)!

ICU in the phil = ICU in the USA?
Oh BTW, a (male) nurse/co-worker of mine back then said he studied at Capitol Med (this school closed for quite a while then reopened) and volunteered at Polymedic. He couldn't get a job at both places because he's male. Can you imagine? These two hospitals will do anything to make a buck by accepting him as a student and a volunteer yet won't employ him because of his sex! I guess this is off topic now but I'm on a roll here. I also passed the application process for Chinese General Hospital. On the first day of the classroom orientation, this lady from HR said that we wouldn't be paid for 7 months because we were there for the "experience only". I never went back. I'd rather work at Jollibee then (no call centers as fall back jobs during that time). Atleast I'd get paid. Shortly I found work at a DOH hospital which makes me a very lucky grad. That's a whole other story. It's a mouthful but the moral of my story is...go WORK for whichever hospital you get into because "training" does not count as work experience. As foreign grads, we all end up as new grads when we undergo orientation in US hospitals. Does this still happen in the Philippines? I'm talking about my experience over ten years ago.

Immigrant to Canada Studying in Philippines
Hello everyone! A close relative is migrating to Canada but she's still in nursing school in Manila. She wants to finish her BSN there. Anyone here who's a Canadian immigrant currently studying in the Philippines? How long can she stay outside of Canada without letting her immigrant status lapse? Will greatly appreciate the response especially from (Filipino) Canadian immigrants studying in the Philippines!

ICU in the phil = ICU in the USA?
Paying for "training" at De Los Santos is so not worth it. Their facilities don't even come close to topnotch local medical centers like St. Luke's, Asian Hospital, Makati Med, and half a dozen others. They're another for profit institution that preys on the low confidence of new grads. Now working for them (or in any other major hospital) will beef up your resume rather than undergoing training. Or maybe they're also one of those hospitals that require prospective staff nurses to go through their training-for-a-fee "program" in order to secure a position. These are one of the awful things I've witnessed when I was still there in RP. Hospitals charge a clerical fee for applications, training, physical exams and lab tests, etc. Do that here in the US and applicants will run the other way. Add to that Capitol Medical Center and Polymedic's (now Potenciano? med. ctr) policy of hiring female nurses only as far back as the 90's!
