OP you said in another post that you have been an aide for 4 months correct, so I am really wondering why you were training someone new in the first place? Training a new people is even hard for a seasoned aide let alone someone who is rather new herself. Anyway, I wouldn't worry to much about the complaint but I would recommend not helping the resident unless there is another staff member in the room with you. This way you have a witness is she tries to complain on you again.

I agree with what this person said. I would like to add that most aides like this get themselves in trouble in some way. When I first became an aide I thought that I knew everything until I had something bad happen and it brought me back to reality.

Try taking the resident to the bathroom at least every 2 hours. If you notice him looking like he has to go then direct him to the bathroom if possible. Also get some Geri pads for the chair so if he goes it will not make a mess. It sounds to me like he still knows when he has to go, but he might need help to find the right area.

I agree with the pp on this topic. In my experience, I had a job when I got out of my training. Were I live CNA jobs are a dime a dozen.

I have worked in SNF's for many years and wanted to try something different. Anyways, do you think that working in afh is less stressful?

My work actually tried to enforce no peeing unless you are on on break lol. Sorry but I'm going to use the bathroom when I need it.

Does the LVN know that you are a brand new aide? I'm sorry to say that most Ltd homes like to treat the newbies like garbage. Hopefully it will get better for you.

20 residents per evening shift is way too many. Run away from this place and fast

I hope that this is for NOC shift to have 20 residents. 20 for days or eve shift is way too many IMO.

Wow that's a lot of residents to take care of. I don't usually have that many residents and I feel overwhelmed at times also. Tbh when I'm at work its all about how fast I can get these residents down for the night and for me to go home. I hope that things get better for you. I just wanted you to know that your not alone.

I found that I can buy name brand scrubs for about the same price as Walmart.

I agree with the others that you get used to it. It still hurts to lose a resident but I work in Ltc and have to be there for the others.
