Several months ago, in unit council meetings, we brought up the issues with the ER not calling report (they would just send the patient up whenever) and our whole procedure was changed after several more meetings. We now get a page (from a PAGER, yea my hospital still uses those) with the patient's name, medical record number, admitting dx, and attending physician. The ER then calls and gives a (imo) very basic report, sometimes they are able to answer questions, sometimes not. The patient is then transported up sometimes within 20 minutes, sometimes closer to an hour or two. The transporter calls up to the desk when they get there, someone from the unit has to lay eyes on the patient before the transporter leaves. If the assigned RN is not available to immediately take report, another RN is supposed to take the report. Sometimes, they call immediately after the page is sent, sometimes there's a 20 minute or so delay, and, for me, personally, I try and look up the patient to figure out what's going on before they call. I also try and figure out some of their orders,(if they need an IV pump, SCD machine, bed alarm, etc.) The system is definitely not flawless but an improvement from previous methods. The only problem is that they can (and oftentimes do) send the patient during shift change hours, which I have found to be unsafe.

still waiting... just curious, has anyone in Tier 2 received acceptance? I am in Tier 2 (One point shy of being in Tier 1) but my debt-to-income ratio is almost 200%... I'm slowly losing hope of being chosen for this program.

I applied for the HRSA loan repayment program this year. i submitted my application and all of the documentation required months ago. I am wondering if anyone else has applied for the program this year and if they've heard anything. I have received no communication from them whatsoever, and when I go onto their webpage, I don't see a place where I can log in and check the status of my application. Anyone know anything about this?

It seems like you have access to a lot of questions but this program is a bit different. The questions get harder as you move through them, and I would arguably say that the level 8 questions are harder/at least as hard as the NCLEX questions I got. There are tons of SATA, and I feel this program really did prepare me. Going through the NCLEX, I saw similar themes and topics, and this is the only or one of the only softwares that actually adapts to you.

I just found out i passed today! I took the NCLEX yesterday. That program really did help me, the questions on Mastery Level 8 are very comparable to the questions I had on the NCLEX. I got to level 8 on all the Client Needs sections, and ended up doing around 4000 questions. At level 8, I was getting scores between 50-70%, so I was a bit worried, but the level 8 questions I would say were harder than the questions I saw on the NCLEX. I did review Saunders but I believe it was most effective to do questions. I started off with 50 a day, and built up to 150 before the test. I highly recommend doing questions with this program and getting the mastery level as high as possible. If you have any questions let me know :)

I take my NCLEX on June 5th, and have been using PrepU since the end of April. I've done over 2500 questions and I feel like it is helping me with critical thinking and prioritization, etc. I am also reading the Saunder's book and only have some Pharmacology and MedSurg stuff left to read over. The questions are really good because I always feel like I have to think about the answer, it's not just a recall of information, but it's not impossibly difficult. I will let you know if it helped me, but I believe it has!

no, just questions. you can sort by section (OB, Peds, Psych, etc), or by the sections the NCLEX is divided into (Management of Care, Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies, etc).

If you can afford it (It's like $75 for 6 months) get Lippincott's NCLEX 10,000 (Prep U). This is an online program. There is a bunch of questions, can be sorted by subject, and the questions get harder as you move up. You can then review items you missed, and there is a detailed rationale for every question. I have done over 2500 questions on it already. Good luck :)

I'm from Florida, and all the board was waiting on for me was my school list. Some students sent in transcripts and got their ATT quicker, when I checked my status I had sent everything in, everything was complete except the school list. Once that was posted, they emailed me almost right away. My ATT was sent from Pearson the next morning. I would say email the board, I sent them a few emails to verify my information.

First of all, congrats on getting 92% probability! Sure, there's areas you can improve on, but that's a great probability! I haven't taken NCLEX yet, but as far as studying for Pharmacology and Mental Health: Mental Health: a lot of the question's I've got are regarding therapeutic communication. Review the techniques and what you should or shouldn't do/say, review the differing symptoms from one condition to another, and definitely know the meds. Pharmacology (I posted this response in another thread as well) -Study medications by classification (beta blockers, ace inhibitors, etc.) not by individual drug. Most medications in the same class are very similar and can therefore be grouped together. -I then made a chart for each classification of meds, including : the classification, mechanism of action, conditions it's used for, common medications in this class, contraindications, side effects, , and nursing considerations -I color coded each different category listed above -i focused the most on the nursing considerations (as in, check apical pulse before administering, whether to give on an empty stomach or not, etc). If you do have the ATI book for Pharmacology, the questions in there are helpful. If you get them wrong, make sure you understand WHY. Work through the practice ATI's again if you still have access, but I prefer the PrepU rationale's better. They explain why the answer is wrong, and I've found with ATI sometimes I will get a generic rationale such as "This is not the appropriate intervention". if you have any questions let me know :)

I just got my ATT today and signed up as soon as I got it, but the earliest date was June 5th :/ I had wanted to take it by the end of May as well, but all the dates were booked, so I guess I have some extra time to study. I'm studying about 4 -6 hours per day, reading Saunder's book, and I have the NCLEX 10,000 (Prep U) from Lippincott and I am doing 150 questions on there everyday. I'm hoping this will all pay off soon!

the first paragraph of the email i received says: The Florida Board of Nursing is pleased to inform you that you may sit for the Registered Nurse NCLEX the examination. Register with Pearson Vue by telephone at 1-866-496-2539 or online at NCLEX Testing with Pearson VUE to receive an Authorization to Test (ATT). and i've already registered/paid Pearson Vue. It didn't have any number for the ATT. When I log on Pearson Vue, it doesn't let me pick an appointment.

Hey all, I just graduated May 4th, and just today I received an email saying I'm approved to take the NCLEX from the Florida Board of Nursing, and am already registered with Pearson Vue and all that. How long should it take me to receive the actual ATT? I've been studying and doing lots of practice questions and want to at least schedule the test ASAP. Thanks and good luck to all!
