Medic90....what hospital do you work at (private message me)? I work at two local hospitals as well. I only applied to Highlands as well. So nervous and anxious about tomorrow. Crossing fingers and toes.

I have all of the same thoughts and worries. I have applied to KSU but not for their nursing program...yet. If I don't I get accepted this year then it's onto some other major or program. These last couple of days are gonna be the worst, the wait is agonizing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to everyone! On another note someone asked if anybody handed in any letters of recommendation... I did that the last time and was told that GHC does not consider it. I handed in letters of recommendation from surgeons and nurse that I've worked with for over 15 years and I have previously graduated from a LPN program, all of that didn't matter.

At 24 years old you are probably still wet behind the ears. I've seen hundreds, if not thousands of new nurses under 25 come and leave the career within the first year because it is simply not what they thought. Think realistically of what you asking.

First off....no need to be a nervous wreck so early! I can understand being nervous, but applications were due this week, almost a month after you applied. I think in the past I've heard that they don't even open and begin to look at them until Spring semester has finished. So relax!!!! In the past, the last week of June is when I should receive my decline letter. I applied too. I applied before and wasn't accepted. I gave it up and switched my major, but the nagging feeling of failure lingered. So I retook a couple of classes and did much better. That darn TEAS test weighed heavily on my mind as I am a HORRIBLE test taker, I was convinced there was no point studying like I had done in the past, and was sure I would not do well. I did much better this time. My application points are a pitiful 1065. This is my absolute last attempt at the nursing program. If I don't get accepted, I will be much happier with a bachelor's degree in something else and continue to work at my job now.

Thanks! I appreciate that! I thought about every last detail with continuing towards the nursing path, it is just not worth the agony. Honestly, it would be to appease my deceased parents which doesn't make sense. Whenever I offer advice I tell people to find and do what you love and makes you happy. It's time I take my own advice!! My dream job is available again making more money than I ever would as a nurse.....crossing my fingers.

ALL the schools around here are very competitive. I can't travel too far because I have 3 children to look after, and I'm not the "bread winner". I wouldn't be giving up, just changing my path.

I went to an open house for the LPN program today. They said they schedule clinical time for 12 hour shifts and that does include Saturdays and Sundays. I only work Saturdays at the hospital, I've been doing that for 11-12 years now. I don't know if I could give up my Saturdays. It's not about the money, but I pay cash for school. No work on Saturdays= no money to go to school.

havehope.....I hope you get in for Spring!! I didn't think microbiology was as hard as the anatomy and physiology classes. I'm torn whether to give up the nursing, I would have to retake anatomy and physiology1 again and MUST get an A or not a chance. Or to transfer to a 4 year school and get a bachelor's in something. Part of the dilemma is that I make good money now and LOVE LOVE LOVE my job and what I do, if I finish as a RN I would take a pay cut. Oh and I pay cash upfront for school, not a penny for financial aid, grants, scholarships, no student loans.

I am in a similar situation. Getting into the nursing program is a struggle. I don't really have any advice. If you REALLY want it, stick it out waiting or settle on a different health care related job. Nursing isn't for everyone, and there are many options.

23? You're still wet behind the ears!! My brother-in-law started med school in his 40s. I'm 40 and I know many that are older than myself going to school as well!! Us oldies only dream of being that young going through a nursing program!!! I wish I could understand what you're going through but I can't.

It is frustrating and exhausting to hear others complain. We all have circumstances!!!! Own up to your mistakes. We all make mistakes, not all of us can be perfect. Part of learning is fixing your mistakes. It's pathetic to blame others especially your own children.

I didn't get in the first time I applied, but I was prepared for it. I wasn't prepared for telling my classmates, co-workers or others that I was denied. I'm still dealing with to tell I was denied and move on, or to just keeping going without admitting to others that I was not accepted. I had a plan B and a plan C, but it's accepting the fact that I wasn't accepted is the hardest part. My plan B was to get the job I wanted for years now. I went to apply last week for this rare opportunity only to find out the position is no longer available. Now it's on to plan C, get a bachelor's degree majoring in something that comes easily and that I'm good at. I worked real hard and gave it my all maybe it wasn't meant to be. Things happen for a reason!! Wish you all the best!!!!

amorganfreeman....Don't give in so easily. If you aced A&P2 you can take A&P1 again and do well. The TEAS doesn't count that much towards your score either, and you can take that a couple times a year I believe. You're still so young too. You've gone through the hardest part already. I know it's frustrating, I feel your pain. Think about it before you really do give in.

..amorganfreeman... Thanks for your input!! Hope Weaver IS head of admissions. Confirmed in an email from Hope Weaver that letters WERE IN FACT SENT OUT YESTERDAY!!!! I'm still sure I'm not getting in. My anatomy grades weren't great, and I bombed the TEAS. I'm a terrible test taker and get horrible test anxiety in the worst way. I'm working on reducing the anxiety. It's crazy, the classes that count very little I get A's in with little to no effort, the classes that count heavily I get B's in till the final and then I bomb it so bad. I wish they would look at and consider my experience. I graduated from an LPN program over 20 years ago and I have 15 years of experience in the OR. On a positive note, I'm not giving up just yet and I LOVE what I do now! I'm still sending out as many prayers as I can and crossing everything in hopes that "I'm in".

In one of my online classes, a classmate said they called and they told her they were mailed out last week on Wednesday and Thursday. I don't believe it. I think they just finished the process and that they will mail the letters out towards the end of this week, that's "my thoughts" and gut feeling about it. I'm certain I'm not getting accepted, and I'm ok with that. So has anybody received a decline letter? I thought they send those out in May. Anyways, I should be studying now instead of worrying about that....I have 5 quizzes to take tonight and a big test tomorrow. Good luck everybody!!!

I finished training staff at work then took a cruise for a week. Upon return from the cruise I've decided to torture myself by taking 4 summer classes. One word comes to mind......TEQUILLA!!!

Does anyone know if they send out the decline letters and acceptance letters at the same time? I've heard that in the past they send out decline letters in May and the acceptance letters in June. I know I have no chance of being accepted, but I haven't received a decline letter either. Alocke3......How many applicants get accepted to KSU for the Spring semester?

I know in my area (the South) there are plenty of jobs even for new grads. I have a friend that is an RN in the north and she changes offices every couple of years. She never has a problem getting a job. The down side here is that it seems that you have to know somebody where you want to work to get hired. I don't think the nursing profession is one that gets hit as hard from a failing economy as opposed to other professions. The flexibility of places a nurse can work is far greater than other occupations as well. If you can't think of doing anything else or wouldn't be happy doing something else then you have found what you were meant to be!! Discouragement from time-to-time comes with any profession, I think it's normal personally. Go with what will make you happy!!!

@DMC87 I'm just being realistic. I don't want to get my hopes too high only to not get in. If I do get accepted it's because of the 15 years of experience in the OR, but they don't look at that. I know I'm good in clinicals, at least I was when I had gone through my nursing clinicals 20 years ago. What drives me crazy is that I train RNs all day long and they don't have a clue of what's actually going on. It's so discouraging to work with nurses, I don't want to be one of "them". It seems the more education they have the less patient interaction they have and there's more paperwork they are responsible for. I just don't see the point anymore.

@sjutras yes I did calculate my score. I should have went in and had some advising and pointers when filling out the worksheet. I have this one class not done when I turned it in, but I was told last semester that they don't begin to look at them until May when Spring semester is finished. I'm certain I am not going to be accepted for Fall 2013 and I'm ok with that. It's not the end of the world to me. I love what I do now, although I'm debating whether to start a new journey making a lot more than I would as a nurse. I wish the best of luck to everyone that applied!! I have a friend that applied twice and didn't get accepted. She has a bachelor's degree in a science major, got a TEAS score of 98%, and I know she got A's and a couple B's in the other classes Highlands requires. I don't know what her worksheet score was. I think it's crazy how competitive it is to get in the program!!!

A friend of mine has an overall score of 98% on her TEAS V, she applied to two schools and did not get accepted to either one. She also has a bachelor's degree in the science field.

Hi everybody!It's been a very long road getting to this point, so whether I get accepted or not I have no regrets. I applied as well for fall 2013, but I highly doubt that I will get accepted. I'm finishing up my last class now, medical microbiology. I love the class honestly!! My lab instructor was phenomenal!! My lecture professor is tough and challenging. The pressure is on for the last test and the final. Good luck everyone!!
