  1. Yes. I was thinking this same thing....OP was aware during interview that it was a night position and would be unable to take it... why interview for a position that you know is not going to work for you right now and then act completely "crushed" that you have to decline it???
  2. Gets under my skin..but I agree with BTDT...go to HR. I'm sure they will tell you they cannot discuss another person's pay with you but they should be able to tell you starting salary for new grads and you can plead your case their. It probably won't get you far but maybe a new job search will...
  3. I always feel a little guilt calling out too....but I've come to realize co-workers feel no guilt. I've had to step up plenty of times when staffing was low and it made my day suck, however, I'm sure the one calling out was not sitting at home wanting to send me baked goods.. A simple "thanks for helping out" when you return is enough.
  4. I used HOPE (GA funds) and tuition reimbursement for LPN...then a scholar loan from my company for LPN-RN (you pay back over a 2 years period without interest) and it was $7500.00.
  5. I just died..I read babydaddy and it was over....bahahahahaha
  6. Omg... I would pass out. So I went to a less crowded college than some of the bigger ones in our area. I think if you look into hospitals or organizations in your area who partner with certain colleges you will find you can cut a deal to get it covered by agreeing to work for a period of time ( usually two years). Between that and state grants, I BARELY came out of pocket. Please do not spend that kind of $$$. Being a new grad will be stressful enough.
  7. I love my sketcher's memory foam as well. I own Danskos but find they hurt sometimes. Tips I have for you : Be on time. You can be sent home from clinicals for being even a minute late. Try to keep opinions to yourself. Nurses tend to eat their young... Study groups turn into parties..I studied alone.
  8. I have found the grass not to always be greener on the other side. And maybe God is looking out for you in a way that has not been revealed to you yet. If you were to go back there it would be difficult not to resent or spend time thinking of who thought those things about you. Sad part is no matter what you are or are not, someone's perception is their reality of you, even if it's way off. This may be a blessing.
  9. I actually went to school with two different ladies who had a similar situation. I believe one had a DUI. It's possible to still get your license. I remember they were required to appeal to the BON with a personal letter as well as letters of character from various people. It was a pain but both are happily licensed nurses.
  10. I've seen many different posts about this same situation. Whether it be an MA or student or whatever calling themselves a nurse. I was bothered by it when working in a DR's office when the MA would be referred to as Dr so-and-so's nurse, considering I am actually a nurse. I had to have a conversation with myself. Obviously these people have insecurity issues but isn't imitation the biggest form of flattery? Maybe you could tell your "friend" gently that it bothers you when she says it because you worked hard for your title and add in there if someone believes she already holds a license and uses her advice she may be on the receiving end of ugly consequences.
