  1. Hey everyone! I wanted to post my experience since I relied on this site to get information and boost my confindence by reading other peoples posts on NCLEX. I graduated on December 15th, 2015. I didn't get my ATT until 1/18/2016. The soonest I could schedule was 3 weeks out. So I gave myself 3 weeks to study. I had all the NCLEX books and even bought the Kaplan 2015-2016 q book or something like that. I NEVER opened any of them! Some clever person posted some trainers on quizlet so I used those to practice - I did all 7 of them. Once a week another nursing student and I would meet at the library and do a series of 75 Q bank questions from Kaplan. She purchased Kaplan and we used her Q bank. I purchased the Kaplan Q bank for 1 month $50, but didn't use it because we used her q bank to study from and there were the same. I noticed on Kaplan the majority of the questions were: who would you see first, who would you call back first, who can you delegate this patient to? 3 days before my exam I found a book in my big book pile from nursing school - Delegation, Priority, and Assignment - Red & Blue skinny book 2nd edition. Low and behold..... it was all priority type questions broke down into chapters: fluid/electrolytes, pain, renal, etc... (I had never opened the book before and didn't realize it was ALL questions). I decided I had enough of Kaplan and was going to focus on this book. I did about 8 chapters in 2 days picking through the topics I knew I needed help with. The day before the exam I put all my books away, deleted all my nursing apps, and got a Mani-ped and watched the Super Bowl. I took the exam on 2-8-16 - 104 questions and it shut off. I only had 10 SATA. I could tell what subject i was struggling with because I kept getting more questions on it (OB). To be honest it was the subject I didn't study for because I heard there weren't many questions. I was a B student all through nursing school. It wasn't easy for me i had to study a lot and didn't work. Just before my 4th block I was diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer and underwent chemo & surgery in my last block. While I studied for NCLEX, I underwent 20 rounds of Radiation. I am now cancer free and am ready to start my career as a nurse. If I can do this anyone can do this!!! I cannot stress enough that you need to get the delegation & priority book. It will save you in NCLEX. Good luck everyone!
  2. Not sure if you know this or not.....I know I didn't until I registered for classes. There is a $750 Nursing program fee charged to us every semester. There is a $50 online class fee, for each online class you take. There is also a $50 technology fee every semester. I am paying $950 in fees this semester. Funny how in all the meetings, they never once mentioned the measly $750 Nursing fee for ASU - $3750 for the 5 semesters. I was in sticker shock!! $5600 for tuition this semester. YIKES
  3. Yeah, all the ASU classes are online. I've only taken one online class before. Most are 8 weeks, so that worries me - but I guess we'll get used to it. They did say that if we needed help or anything we could come to the campus.
  4. Yes, the email came from ------------- with ASU for the Aug 14th meeting. Were you accepted during the first round or did you wait to begin your ASU application? After I received confirmation that PC process my letter of intent, I have not heard from them since. Guess they don't really need us until Spring.
  5. They sent me an email about a week after my offer letter. It tells you to to get enrolled to ASU asap and get your transcripts over there. Then I got an email telling me which class to enroll in for Fall (TWC361) and a statistics class, but if you have stats already done - tell them. They will count that class. There are 2 other humanities that must be done before graduation, so if you have the time to get them out of the way - do them this semester. I signed up for a Death & Dying class and a Sex in the Media Women's Study class. There will be a meeting on August 14th. You should or will get this email. Hope this helps!
  6. Congrats to you! Yes, I've already applied and got accepted to ASU. They've already processed my financial aid and I've registered for my classes. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get everything done. What about you? **For anyone who needs the MMR shot or titers test - you can go to the ASU medical center and they will do it for you for a small fee**
  7. You have no right to tell the other party of her medical status. Period. All you can do is advise her of the risks and what precautions to take. As for the laws - its is about INTENT. If she intends/plans to infect him on purpose and she has told you this, then that changes the situation. She would then be breaking the law. We don't have to like whats going on or about to go on, but as a medical professional, we are obligated by HIPAA laws to protect her medical information. I assume sexual intercourse between patients at the facility is not okay. Perhaps, you can find a way to separate them on that rule.
  8. What helped me was recording lectures and replaying them multiple times as you are driving or at the gym. I also looked up videos on you tube for different animations or explanations. For the practicals, I took pictures with my Ipad and downloaded an APP that allowed you to label parts or email it to yourself to do on your laptop or pc. That was VERY helpful for me. There are also a few A & P apps out there that are useful and good to practice with. Good luck!! BTW, I got a high B in the class with these techniques - Science is not easy for me and I was able to use these to help me!!
  9. Yes it is! The past 2 years, I've only put the baby at daycare when I actually had classes and studied while he napped or at night. I know there's no way that will work in Nursing school. My husband works 60 hours a week, so he's burned out when he gets home. Hopefully, keeping him at daycare full time will alleviate some of the stress of studying. Hopefully the enrollment process and financial aid goes smoothly!
  10. Make note cards. One side for the Hormone, the other side for its functions. That's what i did to get thru it. Also, the name helps describe what it does (for the most part). Use quizlet.com for help.
  11. Hi there! I have a 18y/o, 13y/o, and a 2y/o - all at 35 years old myself..... I just got accepted to the ASU/CEP on Tuesday! Congrats on NAU - I applied for them too, but listed ASU as my primary pick, in the hopes that I had a better chance of getting in since there were so many NAU applications. Anyways, my neighbor graduated from the GCC nursing 3 years ago. I remember when he was in school, we almost never saw him. He had two little one's like yours and he did spend time with them, but not very much. His advise was, if you do not work - don't!! Also, send make it a priority to send the kids to daycare even on your "off" days of class. You (we) need the time to study and this is our job right now. That way at 4 or 5pm, you can get them and spend time with them as if you just got off work. We can do this! Good luck!
  12. I got accepted to ASU/Phoenix College!! Yeah!! SO excited. I got my email from ASU last night at 7:08pm. I haven't heard back from NAU as a yes or no yet. My GPA was 3.41 and I had 92/91 Hesa A2 scores
  13. The Hesi A2 - in Az is very easy. I worried about it so much and my first attempt second guessed all the math and failed it. I retook it 6 weeks later and got 92 in Math and 91 in the reading/comp part. I bought a study guide on Amazon for $20. You will do fine!! Just practice entering the math question on a computer calculator. They will give you both answers (of entering it in the calculator wrong).
  14. I got my acceptance email from ASU last night (Tuesday night at 7:08pm). Still haven't heard from NAU on yes or no. Im just happy to have gotten accepted!!
  15. I am also applying in May. After this semester I will finally have all my pre & co reqs completed. I will also be graduating in May with an AA in general education ( not on purpose, but i i've completed that many damn classes to qualify)
