  1. Frontier RN-MSN. Bachelor's issue?

When you enter the MSN at Frontier, you are already automatically placed on the DNP track....why not just finish there and not have anything to worry about?
  2. Shortly after a mama gave birth, "You behaved exactly how I wanted" While giving an epidural, "Epidurals are actually better for baby" Care to add to the list?
  3. Returning to L&D after miscarriage

On October 17 I found out that my baby was no longer alive. I was 18 weeks pregnant. I have taken all the time off that I can with PTO and sick leave (I don't qualify for FMLA until January), and I will be returning to work this Sunday. I am very muc...
  4. Cervical Ripening

Maybe she was a TOLAC? Then cytotec would be contraindicated....could still use foley bulb, though. I see many ridiculous reasons for inductions all of the time, and I see many failed inductions as well. Sad, really. Many women don't even know why t...
  5. Patient positioning after epidural

I lay the Pt flat, no bump, but the HOB elevated at about a 30 degree angle. I usually only leave them like that for about 20 minutes, enough time so that the epidural has time to set up equally on both sides and rise to abdomen level. After that I u...
  6. Salaries for L/D nurses in Denver area

Thanks so much fo the advice! Ill begin searching in January... hoping for a job offer by march and move in April
  7. I am seriously considering relocating from the Charleston SC area to the Denver area in spring of next year for a variety of reasons, but principally to attend midwifery school. The cost of renting houses there is considerably more expensive than wha...
  8. Salaries for L/D nurses in Denver area

Thank you. That is much lower than I anticipated, especially considering how much more expensive housing is. Its not much more than what I make as a new grad in sc.
  9. We have plenty of nurses and scrub techs with tons of visible tattoos....not really an issue at my hospital.
  10. Disturbing things that I heard Dr.s say in the Labor room

Aspiring, I am so disappointed to read these! So, so sad! I wonder why some of these people get into obstetrics/ gynecologics if they have absolutely no regard for women and the sanctity of birth.
  11. Disturbing things that I heard Dr.s say in the Labor room

Holy cow! This sounds like assault!
  12. Experience before RN/CNM worth it?

mmm, that type of experience will help you to get a nursing job, BUT you will most likely need RN experience before beginning grad school (there are some exceptions to this, depending on which school you attend).
  13. Another reason unions suck!

WOW! Please bring unions to the South! There is a large airplane manufacturer in my community whose Machinists Union tried to establish itself here and was literally run off by crazy right-to-work Southerners. The union representatives left a couple ...
  14. Initiating Evidence Based Practices

Maybe push for baby friendly accreditation? That will implement many of the things that you are talking about. https://www.babyfriendlyusa.org/
  15. Just took my nclex

I had 13 SATAs and 75, passed, the trick also worked for me.
  16. The sloppy image of nurses today

    EXACTLY
  17. Going into the ICU as new grad

    ^^^THIS^^^
  18. Going into the ICU as new grad

Not sure, 10 weeks seems short, but maybe some ICU nurses will chime in. It seems like you would be in a supportive environment if you chose the ICU position so that would make the transition easier from orientation to independent nursing. And even ...
  19. DUI and nursing

This will probably get moved to the nursing with a criminal backgrounds section. If you live in SC, there is a good chance that your DUI will get knocked down to reckless driving without having a firm BAC. That being said, that is still a conviction ...
  20. help! presentation for interview

IMO, it would be easiest to address the reasons for the recent changes in PAP ages and frequency. 5 minutes is not a very long time to talk, so you don't want to get into something that is too complicated.
  21. Going into the ICU as new grad

I would def take the ICU job. I will add, though, 10 week orientation seems a bit short....
  22. Magnet Designation: What's the Attraction?

  23. Magnet Designation: What's the Attraction?

Do you mean glycemic control? I know I am a new nurse, but I have never heard of glycerin control....
  24. Magnet Designation: What's the Attraction?

Could not agree with this more!
  25. Job Hopping

    Wow.....
