  1. WOW a 1050 a week for housing thats alot... I have never heard of a stipend that high for housing a week maybe a month. but if its wrote down on contract like that lucky lady you are. NOt even CAlifornia has that high of a housing only stipend more like 2200 a month and their housing is expensive. .... lol what company are you with
  2. I'm planning to go to California after April. I don't plan to drive due to its like 23 hours away. My biggest concern is finding a decent place to stay and getting transportation to and from the hospital... Any suggestions??? Renting a car for 13 weeks is def out of the question. Any good agencies that offer great travel reimbursement and a housing stipend (im aware that housing in Cali is expensive than other places)?
  3. Also Medical Staffing.
  4. I'm currently doing a 4 week assignment with Aureus Medical. They have 4-13 week assignments.
  5. HI Im thinking about taking a travel assisgnment in Rio Rancho, New Mexico!! still debating on it.
  6. Hello, Im a young 26y/o AA traveler. I just started back in March and completed my contract on Nov 9 (yes I extended twice). I had about 4 years experience and I worked on a Nephrology/Med /surg/dialysis unit (all of the above). My first travel assignment was a great one , It was less stressful than the unit I worked while back at home. Overall patients are patients, you will see so many similarities. Of course some policies /procedures /politics are somewhat different. Just go in with a open mind and be willing to adapt to change well. The nurses I worked with were wonderful and helpful. I ended up working on a med/surg post surgical/trauma unit. I had days where I was even precepting their staff members on the unit; yeah I know weird but it was cool since it gave me a break. I also want to go to Texas and Cali!! im single with no children and no Pets!!

I am currently at ST.Marys and I like it. I have extended 2 times and my contract ends Nov 9 :) so I have been here since March and so far has had no issues. I work on a medical surgical/post surgical/trauma unit. Honestly most of the original staff has left the floor :/ and there is a lot of new nurses working there. Im used to hard work so that floor has been less stressful for me believe it or not.
  8. Hi im late but im also in Evansville currently until September. What unit are you working on?
  9. apr08 replied to ncnursie's topic in Travel
Hello im here at St Marys in Evansville . I have been here since March due to the fact I ended up extending my contract.
  10. Hello im curious which company are you with that has the san Francisco and Oakland epic conversion ?
  11. HELLO...... I HAVE BEEN NURSING FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS AND MY PASSION IS TRAVELING . SO I PUT THE TWO TOGETHER AND MY DREAM HAS COME TRUE. IM NOW A TRAVEL NURSE ON MY FIRST ASSISGNMENT IN INDIANA. SO FAR IM ENJOYING IT. ALSO IM LOVING THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE OF A NEW LOCATION/ HOSPITAL ROUTINE/POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. BUT ALL IN ALL NURSING IS NURSING. I WORKED ON A RENAL/MED/SURG/TELE UNIT BEFORE I STARTED TRAVELING AND ENDED UP TAKING A MED-SURG/POST SURGICAL /TRAUMA POSITION. AT FIRST I WAS A NERVOUS (WHICH IS NORMAL FOR MOST) DUE TO A NEW PLACE/PEOPLE AND FLOOR/HOSPITAL,ETC. THE STAFF RNS AND TECHS ARE NICE AND HELPFUL AND APPROCHABLE WHICH IS GREAT. I HAVE BEEN AT THE FACILITY FOR A MONTH AND HAVE 2 MONTHS LEFT..YAY! MY BEST ADVICE IS TO GO IN WITH A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND NEVER A NEGATIVE. KEEP SMILING AND KNOW THAT GOD WILL NEVER PUT TOO MUCH ON YOU THAT YOU CANT HANDLE. IN NURSING WE ALL HAVE OVERWHELMING DAYS , THE BEST THING TO KNOW IS THAT AT 0708 ITS TIME FOR A NEW SHIFT AND YOU CAN FINALLY EXHALE!! LOL! .```````` ANYWAYS I WORK WITH NURSES CHOICE. THEY PAY WELL AND I HAVE GOOD INSURANCE FOR 25$ A WEEK. PAY IS WEEKLY. I WORK 48 HOURS A WEEK (DONT THINK I WILL DO 48 A WEEK ON THE NEXT ASSISGNMENT, I WILL DO IT ONLY IF I DESIRE TO PICK UP A DAY). ALSO IF YOU HAVE EMAR EXPERIENCE (EX: EPIC, QUEST, CERNER...ETC) , LET ME KNOW!! CAUSE ITS SOME GOOD MONEY TO BE MADE! REPLIES ARE WELCOMED AND THANKFUL!!!
  12. hi this story sounds familiar lol. I have been nursing for almost 5 years and my passion is traveling . So i put the two together and my dream has come true. At first i was a nervous (which is normal for most) due to a new place as in a whole new state for me/.people and floor/hospital,etc. The staff rns and techs are nice and helpful and approchable which is great. I have been at the facility for a month and have 2 months left..yay! My best advice is to go in with a positive attitude and never a negative. I reside in a extended stay which is good for me since im single with no children.. (but its not a idea for a family). Also if you have emar experience (ex: Epic, quest, cerner...etc) , let me know!! Cause its some good money to be made! I hope i helped out some.

LOL yes I kind of have the same mindset...cowboy boots and hats :) Thanks for the advice and tips. I have not heard anything bad about Texas yet. Just heard a couple people mention the nurse patient ratio. By the way , what is the nurse patient ratio were you are at? How long is your assignment and what company did you use?
