  1. Hello, After finishing my MSN at South University 2 years ago, I swore I was not going on to get my DNP....now here I am 2 years later and I am considering my DNP. I live and grew up in Florida and have ALWAYS wanted to be a Gator. I am looking into their MSN to DNP online program, but have additional questions. Can I get in with getting my MSN at South University? How is tuition? Is it really only $530 a credit hour for Florida residents? How many on campus visits are there?Do you have to present your DNP project? Are there any clinicals? Is this a do-able program if you work full time during the week?Any other information is appreciated! Thank you in advance!
  2. There is a doctor that comes in to round on his patients that comes directly to the nurses station and states 'I'll take a coffee, this color *points to his skin*." then goes and sits down and waits for his coffee. I know he is joking, but SMH, get it yourself!
  3. Never smell the mysterious brown spot that is on your scrubs. Always have an extra pair of scrubs in case you become covered with Go Litely diarrhea when the patients husband put the bucket in wrong in the bedside commode.
  4. "Could you maybe give me a hand?" as he is pleasuring himself.
  5. The fall risk patient with the bed alarm turned off, and the patient's significant other holding on to her from behind and pleasuring her with the curtain wide open.
  6. I am a current FNP student at South University. I am about to start Advanced Nursing Practice 2. I started looking at the preceptor information and under the dress code, it mentions obtaining a lab coat with the South University MSN emblem on it. I cannot find any additional information on this. Is this true?
  7. Wow! You have done your homework. Thanks for this. I am looking at Indiana State University, Walden University and the University of South Alabama. My GPA isn't the greatest at 2.92, so it's a challenge trying to find a school that will accept me.
  8. Their online FNP program is only for Texas residents. SMH I just graduated from there in December with my BSN and pulled through with a 2.92. They will not let me retake any courses and will not let me take any other online classes to pull up my GPA.
  9. I contacted my school I graduated from and apparently it's illegal to retake classes I have already finished a degree in. I have reached out to advisors at my school to see what they suggest.
  10. Does anyone have any advice, insight, experience?
  11. Hello, I just graduated in December with my BSN from UTA. I am wanting to continue on to grad school for Nuse practitioner. However, upon applying, my undergrad GPA is 2.92. I struggled a bit doing my RN-BSN as I had my child 7 weeks earlier than planned...right in the middle of 3 classes. I failed 2 and that tanked my GPA. The school I'm applying for has suggested I take a 3 credit hour class ( can be an undergrad class) be sure to get an "A" to bring my GPA up enough to get into the program. I gave looked at the classes I got C's in, in hopes of maybe retaking one, but these are classes like US government and Texas politics. Has anyone just taken a class to bring up your GPA? What kind of class did you take? Any suggestions on which way would be better to go? Thanks!
  12. Just an update. I took the Medical Surgical certification and passed. I used the book they sell to study. I read pretty much everything and focused on those areas where I was a bit weaker. It was 150 questions and took me about an hour.
  13. Which books did you use for research? I see there's about 3 listed and want to make sure I'm not going to waste my money.
  14. I was just looking at my degree plan, and as of 1 month ago, the only classes I had left was the statistics class I was currently enrolled in, my nursing research and capstone. This was verified by my advisor. Low and behold, I look at my degree plan today and there is an additional nursing core class: Health Policy and Legal AspectHealth Policy and Legal Aspects of Professional Nursing. I'm wondering if anyone else had an information such as, if currently enrolled students are expected to take this class? My advisor is a piece of work in herself. She has never been informative nor very helpful. She likes to pass the buck on to everyone else. I'd rather hear from other students before going to her on this issue. Thanks in advance! Sarah
  15. Hello all, This was posted previously in the past, but several years ago. I just applied to take my CMSRN exam to become med/surg certified. I've been a nurse on a med/surg unit for 2 years. For those that have taken this exam recently, what did you study? Any great books you recommend? What suggestions would you have for studying? Thank you in advance!
  16. For your sake, my mind was thinking ahead to the possibility of traveling to a campus , just for a day. Unless it was mildly close to where I live, driving a couple of days or even flying would not work out for me. It's bad enough to shovel out the $$ and take ourstudent loans to go to school, but to have to go to a campus too. Unfortunately the great state of Florida pays next to nothing for nurses.
  17. I'm searching for a NP program, but am looking for specific things in it. I would like to find an NP program that does not require campus visits, as well as does not require the GRE to get into it (they go off of application and transcripts instead.) If I can find a school that have those, I could then research on what the senior project will be and if it will be a program for me. Any and all insight is welcome. A bit of background, I've been a nurse for almost 2 years, will be done with my BSN in December from the University of Texas in Arlington. Currently working on a med-surg unit. Thanks! Sarah
  18. Yes, I am aware that online still means clinicals. I'm just trying to prepare by finding a school that will be the right fit. I am currently at the University of Texas in Arlington for my BSN, but unfortunately, they only allow people that are in Texas to be in their MSN programs. I have been a nurse for 2 years, so the hours won't matter too much once I get to that point.
  19. I am searching for a nurse practitioner school that I'll be able to go to either part time or full time, online. I have a small child that is just now a year old, which makes it tough for day care. Looking for a school that I can finish within 3 years, so I can start in the workforce and start repaying my student loans. I will have my BSN by the end of this year. I do live on the east coast of central Florida. Any all all suggestions will be welcomed. Thank you in advance.
  20. I am signed up to take Texas Government and US History in a couple of weeks. I received a phone call and went to voice mail...from my advisor stating he doesn't recommend taking them both together. A little background of me: I have a 7 month old, stay at home dad, and I work full time 3 12's a week. Is this doable? I'd like any and all feedback as I would hate to have to drop a class. These 2 classes (and statistics, which I will be doing outside of UTA) are my only pre-reqs I have left. I'm just finishing up Prof Nursing right now.
  21. Hello, After my perquisites are finished in December, I'll have 8 of the 9 nursing classes left to finish (Prof. A&B will be the finished class). Of the remaining classes, which would you suggest to be taken together? I would like to take a harder class with an easier class if possible. Thanks in advance! Sarah
  22. I have all of the nursing classes left to take, except for Prof A&B. Which classes would you suggest I take together so I may finish my degree earlier than I would if I took them one at a time?
  23. I don't live in Texas, so unfortunately don't have access to the campus, nor do I have a community college near me to take classes. For the RN-BSN online program, patho and pharm aren't required, but I did take pharm in the past and had it transfer in as my upper division elective.
  24. Unfortunately I don't actually live in Texas and the schools near me don't offer government classes. I'll just have to make due with it.
