  1. Yeah and sometimes it just takes someone to be in your shoes to understand the situation. And that he did.
  2. I remember when I first started working nights (8 hour shifts) I would come home and pass out around 8:30am and sleep until 2:30-3:30pm. My husband would come in and ask me the same thing about sleeping all day. It wasn't until he started working nights did he realize we are up all night while they sleep. Plus I was working 5 nights a week and on my off days my sleep pattern remained the same. Sleep during the day and up all night. We didn't get to spend a lot of time together on opposite shifts. But once he was on nights too it was better for the both of us.
  3. When I worked Home Health I had a range from 1-7 visits a day. I was paid hourly and mileage of course. It wasn't that bad I just hated the driving. It once took me 2 hours to get home because I was stuck in traffic. It just wasn't for me but each nurse is different.
  4. I'm sure every nurse has felt burnt out at some point in time but just remember why you chose this profession. Even though you feel your at your wits end remember you have made a positive difference in someone's life and probably don't realize it! Stay positive you can do this :)
  5. It's awesome to read these posts stating that docs help out. I don't work in a hospital yet but it's nice to know that they will help you out if you ever need it. That's good team work!!! :)
  6. Thanks for your replies! I don't think online is the way I want to go.
  7. I've recently heard that a well know hospital in my area has stopped hiring nurses that did their LVN to RN or RN online because of the clinical component (doing clinical time on own and having them sign off a checklist without an instructor there). Has anyone else came across this. I was just wondering because I wanted to do my LVN-RN online as well but now I'm thinking maybe its not a good idea.
  8. Sometimes I was told if I was to orientate someone and other times I came in, looked at the schedule, and bam I see a new name with an "o" next to it! I don't mind though because I was once in that position and I know what it feels like when someone doesn't want to do it with you! I don't want anyone to feel like they are a bother to me because eventually they will be my co-worker and its important to have good relationships with each other to help promote teamwork!
  9. My thoughts and prayers are with you! I too had an accidental needle stick and drove myself crazy about it! But don't stress yourself about it I'm sure everything will be fine!
  10. Thanks everyone for your input! :) I think I am going to go ahead and do Home Health because it interests me and now that I have a few years experience I'm going to give it a go!
  11. Oh and I forgot to mention I am an LVN.
  12. Hi, I've been a nurse for almost four years and have only worked in the LTC/Skilled Rehab setting and am currently wanting to work in Home Health. Is it very different from LTC/Skilled Rehab? What can I expect as far as pay and patient load?
