  1. Esme's posts on this board are always a source of inspiration for me. Her article, "Why I love Being a Nurse" was so beautiful, and was written with a heartfelt and true sense of joy and beauty in the wonder of the art of nursing. Esme's article not only brought me to tears, it reaffirmed all of the reasons I wanted to become a nurse myself. It is the last line she wrote in this article that completely and so eloquently sums up the heart and soul of nursing. As she wrote, "THIS is why I love being a nurse. THIS is the reason I stay being a nurse. I can AFFECT POSITIVE change in the midst of tragedy. I can affect the outcome of the people's lives I touch in a positive way...." This is what nurses do, every day….we can change the world…we can help people in the worst moments of their lives. Nurses are there, no matter how hard it is to stand tall and be professional and hold a hand as someone suffers. We are there. Thank you Esme for everything you have written on Allnurses. I suspect you will never know just how many lives you have touched. Mine is one of the countless many. Please get well Esme! We are praying for you!
  2. happiness7 - congratulations on your acceptance! :) I received an email today from Jeff with a Nursing Program Info Guide - probably all of you have received it as well. There was a welcome letter, a booklist, and a lot of info about things that need to be done before the program begins in the fall. Check your inboxes! Looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall!
  3. Just awesome! I hope you pursue these suggestions by NRSKarenRn - may we all live to be 92 and happy in what we do!
  4. Awesome!!! Congratulations asher07 - So happy for you! :) Looking forward to the fall!!!!
  5. It is Lucille Ball and Charlie McCarthy, ventriloquist Edgar Bergen's sidekick. ?
  6. Good luck on your interview asher07!!!!! :)
  7. Hi mk989, glad to hear you were able to attend the event and that it was informative! I did go on a campus tour awhile ago and that included a tour of some of the student apartments in Orlowitz which I thought was pretty nice. Have you had a chance to look at it? But I plan to live off-campus. I am excited too for the program to start!
  8. Hi mk989! I was very sad not to be able to attend the accepted students reception due to a scheduling conflict. Did you end up going? How was it? Hope all went well and you had a great day if you did go! :)
  9. Swellz: Thank you so much for the information regarding the iPad - I do have an iPod touch, so I will try first to get by with that. And thanks for the tip about the cargo pants! Again, congratulations on your upcoming graduation - you must be so happy!
  10. Hi Swellz! Thanks so much for the info! And congratulations on your impending graduation from the APW program! I have a question about the iPad - I heard that it is required that we purchase one for the program, and I wonder how often you and your fellow students used it, and what everyone thought about it. Do you have to carry it around with you in clinicals? Was it helpful, or not? Thanks again for posting above, it is great to hear from a student currently in the program! :)
  11. Hi mk989 - Congratulations on your acceptance! Like you, I chose the 2-year APW program because I do not have a medical background and felt APW would be a better fit for me than the one year FACT program. I am also looking forward to beginning the program, but have not met any current or former students. It would be nice to hear from anyone currently in the program. Also, like you, I am trying to get finances in order! Hope to see you in the fall!
  12. Congratulations! Looking forward to meeting all of you in the fall! :)
  13. Hi jrsweet - I think the best advice I could give is to be able to answer why you want to be a nurse and why you would like to go to Jefferson. You will be asked those questions. The interview was really a positive experience for me - it was basically a conversation. Be prepared to ask some questions about the program too. And just enjoy yourself! Wishing you the best of luck!!!!
  14. sstock, like you, Jeff was my first choice school, so yes, I will be going! Congratz to you too!!! :)
  15. Hi there Gingermetimbers and sstock -- I just got accepted too! :)
