  1. Funny how you mention that I have seen plenty of foreign doctors that come into our LTC and think they are some sort of Greek God or something! You may want to just look for a different scenery!
  2. But stuff happens...I always wanted to go the home health route thanks for giving me an overview on what to expect. Kuddos for handling this well.
  3. I would just brush this off! Its really frustrating when family members fail to understand the bigger picture.
  4. Hi Barbara, I will be starting my LVN school again from September, since I didn't make it the first time around. I will definitely be keeping in touch. Thank You So Much! In the meantime while I wait I am marrying A&P, and Dosage Calculations! I will pass these two classes this time around! I have gotten my self a tutor and we work on these two subjects so I think I will be better prepared this time around! Any advice on how to tackle Dosage?
  5. Awesome! Congrats!
  6. I am an adult though not with any kids, I can totally understand. I am going the LVN route for right now. I passed my HESI and got accepted. I am going to a private college as WorkSource and their Financial Aid is paying for the whole tuition. Then there are no prereqs to take..they teach everything that you need right in class. Its one year with 5 week modules. After each 5th week you have to pass the HESI to proceed to the next level and finish. I decided this was the right choice for me. I am a previous CNA but basically have no other academic experience besides working in a skilled nursing unit. I have already started to look at Nursing books so I can stay ahead. I start this April. After I finish this I would like to start for my BSN. But for right now my goal is to finish this. I am scared so much to absorb in a very short amount of time. Please do pray that I succeed!
  7. I am attending Fortis. I will start from April of this year. What can I expect?
  8. Hi I just got accepted into the Fortis College LVN nursing program. Yest the program is a little pricey but the classrooms are small. And I liked that. And people that are complaining about their pass ratings. Its has changed. They are fully accredited and their nursing pass rate is at 100%. Here is the current link with current rating that cover just last year. http://www.fortisedu.info/cig/placement_rates/Fortis%20-%20Houston%20South%20-%20Placement%20Rate.pdf From last year, there were 17 nursing graduates and they had a 100% placement rate. That means everyone who graduated and passed the licensing exam also got a job. The graduation rate itself was 62%. That means that 38% of students did not graduate for some reason or another...don't be one of those people :). Their stats are actually comparable to San Jac except San Jac has a slightly higher graduation rate of 74% and a placement rate of 97%. Every Nursing Program is going to be Intense. I don't think there is any easy route. I decided I want to be a Nurse...now I am ready to get slammed. I am relaxing for the time...as when April rolls around ...time will fly! I just didn't want to be put on a waiting list. Yes the college is predominantly a Nigerian community..but I could care less. I want my LVN..that's all. These credits do not transfer..but for me its a start... I would love to here from you if you are attending. Thanks
  9. I am taking A&P II, Microbiology, and Pathology! Scared as ever. Even though I got a B in A&PI. I am not working this semester. Its tough for me I am 33 going back to school. Its harder to focus but if you guys can so can I.
  10. Hey Amber your best bet will be to get a RN! ( BSN-to RN) but as you know NURSES with higher degrees is where the money is. Just like a nurse with a one year degree vs a nurse with a Bachelors. There is a difference in pay. I have many friends that are a variety of Nurses meaning from LVN to RN to a PHD (MRN). The higher the degree the more Money there will be. Of Course it also depends on your location . Some places pay better while others don't. It is possibly to make money depends on your degree and area of specialization. Good Luck to you, Deba
  11. I am in my early thirties and am finishing up my prereqs at San Jacinto College. I love how this site encourages people to achieve their dreams. I am scared as I am a older adult going back to school with those teens but I have to be a nurse. I always wanted to be but was never focused when I was younger. I partied a lot back then and cared less about my education. I am currently concentrating on becoming a LVN first and then after I finish will concentrate on a RN. Any suggestions on colleges within Texas that have a good LVN program and possibly not so competitive!
