Good NCLEX review center in New York?
Hi there!, I enrolled with Ready to Pass last year. They are a God sent. I took the NCLEX 2 months later and passed on 83 questions. I felt confident entering and leaving the examination room. They have a 5 week course which I would recommend. You learn the material a lot better. The instructors are very professional and knowledgeable. There are 2 instructors who teach the class. They are very patient and helpful. There is also a 5 day course. Here is their information: Ready to Pass 300 Hempstead Turnpike, Suite 120 West Hempstead, NY 11552 516-408-3696 Ready to Pass - NCLEX Review Courses Hope this helps. Good luck :-)

kaplan vs ready to pass?
Hi nyguy26- sorry to hear about your situation. Please do not give up. I enrolled in Ready to Pass last year. The program is excellent. Both of the instructors are registered nurses and still practice in their specialties. They are personable, the class size was small, and the instructor took time to review all the concepts that were covered in the NCLEX. In fact, the first day of the course, everyone receives the "Study Manual" that condenses the material. It is easy to understand, and the instructor goes through the manual from front cover to back cover. Also, there are questions at the back of the manual; rationales are included. The course I was in lasted 5 weeks. I learned A LOT. The day of the NCLEX Examination, I felt EXTREMELY PREPARED!!! I passed the NCLEX on 83 questions. The course is worth it. I understand that the course is taught in NY, NJ, and Georgia. I highly recommend the course. I wish more people knew about the course. I heard about ready to pass from a nurse during clinicals. My school automatically enrolled everyone in Kaplan. I felt lost, and the instructor refused to answer questions. The review felt more like an episode from Jerry Springer with all the chaos and insults. There was no time set aside to review concepts or to have questions answered. Ready to Pass was the total opposite. From day one of the course, I started to think more like a nurse.

NCLEX-RN Advice: PLEASE HELP!!! I'M SO DEPRESSED!
Hi Everyone, Not too long ago, I was in a similar situation. First thing I did, I attended an NCLEX review to give me insight as to what I should and should not focus on. Do not return to the textbooks only unless you need further clarification on a specific topic. I was advised to study all the core content such as the med/surg, peds, pharm, priortizations, etc. After you feel comfortable with the material, do questions from NCLEX 4000, Saunders, Kaplan. Also, practice questions on "select all that applies" and drag and drop. Another thing- TAKE THE EXAM WHEN YOU ARE READY!!! I say this because some of my collegues studied together and decided to take the NCLEX almost the same time. That may work for some people, but not for all. Unfortunately, I know someone who decided to take the exam because everyone was saying we studied therefore we are ready. Everyone's period of readiness is different. I took the test when I felt confident enough to tackle questions that I was unaware of. Keep positive and practice everyday. Remember Philippians 4:13.

Failed NCLEX-RN last week
Good Morning All, I took the NCLEX-RN last week and the computer shut off at 264. Two days later I got my results on Pearson's website by paying $7.95, and I found out that I failed . Now I am very devastated to the point I don't know how to prepare for this beast. I signed up with Kaplan since my school has a contract with them and I completed all of the QBank questions. In addition, I practed from other sources such as Saunders, Lippincott just to name a few and it feels like I am bumping into a wall. Can anybody give suggestions on passing this exam on the second attempt, who has been in the same situation as me before? Thanks Desperate Graduate Nurse

BEWARE: Pace University
Thanks in advance. I am currently in the process of applying to different schools. The last thing I need are unnecessary theatrics in a program.

I just lost my husband and now not sure if I should be a nurse
My deepest condolences on your loss. As everyone else has stated, do not make any hasty decisions. Take time to grieve and heal. This is not the season to make life changing decisions.

What to do ? I'm so screwed up
Sorry for your dilemna and the passing of your grandmother. Do know that this storm will pass. In regards to your financial situation, definitely take out a private loan and forget about the dreadful experience at Iona. Whatever you do keep focused and do not allow anyone or anything steal your joy.

any non traditional students here?
To all the non-traditional students out there- GOD BLESS and GO FOR IT!!! :chuckle I too am a non-traditional student and we have a lot more to offer in terms of life experience and maturity. When I was taking my prerequisites, my entire study group were made up of individuals who were over 30years. We as non traditional students are "grown, sexy and smart":w00t: The nursing community need more of us out there for our life lessons and nurturing natures.

UMDNJ Accelerated BSN students
Belle- Thanks for the information. I am seriously considering applying to UMDNJ for Fall 2009. I wanted to know what is the numeric passing grade for all the classes? When is the best time to apply? I heard that sometimes its best to apply for the spring or summer due to less number of applicants.

In DESPERATE need of adivce
Thank you for the quick response. A little bit of background . . .my collegues and I were not informed that the program was changing the curriculum until June- the same week that classes were ending for the Spring semester. My study habits are pretty good considering that I got 2 A's and one B. I accredit this to being a second degree student. I do not beleive that my life outside of school is interfering with my studies. The school that I am about to leave is very unorganized, and the information pertaining to the change in nursing curriculm was told by the nursing advisor and was confirmed by the Director of admissions of the nursing department. To illustrate my allegations of uncaring professors- several weeks ago, I went to my professor b/c I was having some difficulty in a med math course. When I expressed to her my concerns about my progress in the course her response was, "YOU ARE MAKING STUPID ERRORS!!!" When I asked how can I rectify this, she became more defensive. I proceeded to contact another professor who I know that teaches the same course and she said that due to conflict of interest, she cannot assist me. I went to the dean and my concerns fell on deaf ears.

In DESPERATE need of adivce
Hi guys, I am currently in a nursing program where I am MISERABLE!!! I decided to give this place a chance for almost 1 year and I had to tolerate non-nurturing staff (professors, lab instructors, etc) who were rude, disgruntled, arrogant and did not care if I needed help in my courses. Also- lack of ORGANIZATION!!! Despite expressing my concerns to the administrative staff of the department, it all fell on deaf ears. I felt alone, and I was told by a professor, "it is what it is." I came to the realization that this is a money making business- therefore, I am taking my business elsewhere. To add insult to injury, the curriculum was changed and I was told that my courses from last semester (Spring 2008) would not be applied towards my degree. One of my collegues filed a complaint and was met with opposition and told if she doesn't like it; there's the door. No one should be subjected to this treatment. This I believe is one of the reasons why there is a nursing shortage. Can anyone at this point recommend schools- accelerated, dual degree that have good resources, professional staff and some unification among students. This time around I want to make sure that I do my homework THOROUGHLY. All suggestions and comments appreciated.
