I worked at NWTH CCU/ICU as a new RN several years ago and had a great experience. Moving back and I'm thinking in applying again!

Which class to drop?
I am about to move across country and I don't think I can pack everything, sell the house, spend 10 days on the road driving, while taking two classes at UTA (RN-BSN). I'm registered for Stats and US government. Which one of these classes will be easier to take while doing all the things I'm having to do at this time? I'll have limited internet access for about 3-4 days. I need to decide on which class to drop. Thanks!

Courses list on blackboard
Thanks guys! I guess then it depends of the teacher. This class I'm taking which starts officially today, was opened this past Thursday night. A lot of people have posted their assignments already. It's nice to be able to do it early.

Courses list on blackboard
Hi! Starting at UTA on Monday 8/19 and feeling pretty excited and nervous about going back to school. Financial aid was disbursed yesterday. My question is, when will the courses show up on blackboard?

UAA RN-BSN
Actually, not doing their program anymore. I got hardly any help from the school of nursing. Plus not all the classes can be taken online through UA and that was not going to work with my work/family schedule. Also they had too many prereqs and it was going to be more expensive in the end than other schools, even with in-state tuition. Wasn't working for me.

Just Finished RN-BSN Program
Oh, and what is it about the research class that makes it so difficult? There are a lot of negative comments about it on the forum. Is there anything I can do to prepare? Thank you so much for being willing to answer our questions. That is a huge help for those of us who are just starting! :)

Just Finished RN-BSN Program
Hi! Just a few questions :) How long did it take you to complete program? What classes are ok to double up with another and which classes are better to take by themselves? Thanks!

ENG 1302 book question...
Hi RunHeatherRun! I tried to reply to your message but I guess I need to initiate 15 posts before they let me reply. I've only initiated one! Need to get busy on posting so I can reply to PM. It seems like we're taking similar classes to start. How cool!! I went ahead and got the books for ENGL1302 (ouch!!!!), but will get the others through amazon.

TOEFL requirement at UTA
Hi! Sorry Trang5891, I just noticed your PM. I guess I haven't been in here often enough to be able to reply by PM. Yeah, I called admissions and they told me I didn't have to take the TOEFL so I went ahead and applied to UTA, but then my advisor from the school of nursing said I had to take it. She won't let me register for any nursing classes without the TOEFL scores. You can apply and it's not a requirement for admission, but it's a requirement for the school of nursing. There really is no way around it. Anyway, I purchased the TOEFL teaching materials, I think it cost about $40, not sure now, and I've been studying that. If you've been here in the States for a while it won't be difficult. At least that's what I'm hoping! Good luck!

TOEFL requirement at UTA
Hi! Yeah, I have to take the TOEFL. No way around it. At least not from UTA. Other universities don't have that requirement. I don't know about the minimum score they require. I'm just going to take the test and go from there. I test in a few weeks.

Who else starts 4/8/13? Prof Nursing A/B, Technical writing
I start 3/25 as well. Taking statistics and english comp 2. I'm really excited and just want to get it done although a little aprehensive about using blackboard. I'm sure I'll get used to it in no time. And yes, $504 for each 3 credit class.

Old manager new in OB/GYN needs advice
It seems like you have a challenging situation in your hands, but that will make it easier to see the progress you make. I'm a nurse manager as well, and here's something I've learned: if people feel sincerely appreciated, they'll do better at their work, have more job satisfaction and that will reflect in so many aspects of your unit including patient satisfaction. Listen to them without any judgement, smile often, look for the things they are doing well and let them know they are doing a good job. Blessings!

TOEFL requirement at UTA
Thanks! I don't know why I didn't think about asking admissions. I was being transferred from enrollment to school of nursing back and forth with no answers. Called admissions and got my answer right away. :)

New grad trying hard not to give up...
You finished nursing school!! That speaks volumes about your strength and abilities! So way to go! For some odd reason, even with the nursing shortage, it's difficult to find a job in nursing. Keep applying, even for those night shifts (that's how I started), try to volunteer somewhere where you can get some experience. Community work looks great on a resume. Can you also further your education? I'm currently reading "The ultimate career guide for nurses" by Donna Cardillo. Great book! It has given me motivation to go back to school. Totally recommend it. Let us know when you get that first job :)

TOEFL requirement at UTA
Has anyone been exempt from the TOEFL requirement at UTA? I'm applying to their online RN-BSN program and it asks to submit TOEFL scores if I didn't attend an English-speaking high school. Is that the case even if I've been in the States for 15+ years, have attended college here, and took ESL when I first arrived?
