Just found out I am going to start ECPI/MCI in Virginia Beach! Anyone else hear yet? Advice?? I don't currently work as I just retired from the Navy, but was seeing if I have any classmates out there that we can start up a study group thread or what not.

So did you make it to ECPI nursing Cohort???? How is it going???

Neversaydiemedic, because of you, they didn't give you much of a choice when I joined the navy they just took out the $100, too many people didn't know what they were losing out on, and would never be able to get it back. Maybe you are eligible with this new GI Bill though. There is no buy in for it.

Ok, now I am starting this up. With work-downs and getting ready for dry dock, time has been slipping from me. I need to strap on the seat belt, and lock myself in my room. I will knock out at least one test in October if it is the end of me!!!!

What do you call a nurse with a "C" average? A nurse. Take it, and learn from it, we can't beat ourselves up too much. I failed Transitions the first time I took it in January 2013, now I am back from deployment and have only taken 1 test between then and now. I think the failing of this test really got me down. I am now scraping myself up and going to lock myself away in my tower (or I will settle for my quaint office) and study my butt off. I need to get my life together, and I can't be afraid to fail. Congrats on passing, one test down!

I am not boots on ground, but floating in the drink on a giant vessel. I have been studying up a storm. I luck out here because it is my Chief and myself that provide care to the 330+ on our small ship. We have aided with a few medical emergencies, and I love it. I can't wait to be a nurse and want to have my ASN not too long after RTHP. Thank you for your service to these article/website, and to our great country. I hope you are returning home soon. :)

Congrats! How long did it take you to get from the start to where you are now???

Well, it has been a year since I started with Excelsior. It has been a while since I last posted also. A deployment got in the way. I failed my first test in January 2013 (Transitions) and passed my second (Safety) with a C. I only need the nursing classes, I am almost done with my deployment and thankful too. I can't wait to hit the pavement running with this. I have started back up studying, I brought a bunch of nursing books with me. I am on a boat so my life is consistently inconsistent. I want my ASN done by October to include the CPNE, and my goal is to Ace every other test and clinical portion. I think this is doable. I need a ton of advice, if you have it please share it. Thank you all for everything you do, I want to start this New Years off with a bang. Happy New Year you all!!!!

It was frustrating at first to not see the other choices, but I have realized they showed the choices that really made sense to the question, it might be one answer, or three, but not all have to be present. Maybe I am just used to it now.

For those that are taking health safety, you really have to stop and read the questions carefully, it is the wording that will get you!! I should say good luck, but if you want to be a nurse we can't always rely on luck, but hard work!!

I passed Health Safety today! One down seven to go! I failed Transitions, the first week of January, so I am thinking of retaking that one as my next exam. I have been using Lisa Arends stuff, but I think I might switch to SG 101. I also have all the books.

Ok, nope I was halfway to the bottom, of the first test, when I had 25 questions I was unsure of. I am going to study more, I rescheduled for next Wednesday. The 27th of February.

Tomorrow I am registered to take the Health Safety exam. I did not pass my Transitions test, but I still wanted to move forward. I have been studying for about a month and a half. It seems pretty basic, I am probably wrong again, and I hope I am not. I got a 77 on practice test A, and a 66 on practice test B. I am reading through the exams now, and it looks like I just didn't read all the fine detail. Crossing my fingers though!!! Praying real hard too!! Alright. Breathe. We all got this!

So Wednesday I am taking Transitions. My first test with Excelsior. I have been studying for about two weeks off and on, between text books, Lisa Arends notes, and the practice tests, I hope to have this conquered. People are driving me crazy to memorize, as well as the acronyms, I understand the theories, but wow there are a lot to it. I am putting more effort on the bigger chunks of the content guide, the parts that say 20% or greater of the test, and doing less on the people memorization. I have been rewriting the explanations out of the practice guide out. I got a 55 before studying, and a 65 after studying for a week. So, fingers crossed, and some prayers up high, I will have 7 tests to go on Wednesday afternoon!

I just took this course last month, and all I use is Mac's. Easy course, completed it in about two hours. Good luck and have fun!

Where do you get the TCN modules? Through TCN or ebay?? Just curious...how much do they run you for?

Should I go with Larends study guides? More Books? SG101??? What worked best for everyone really??

I am signed up for the micro course that starts on Monday. I also want to study for the transitions and health safety. I was looking through previous posts and it is difficult to figure. What books or study materials did most use for these two courses? I was going to buy slightly older versions of the Fundamentals, and Nursing in todays world. What else should I do for these two courses? Anyone recommends online study stuff or whats up?

Ok, with Micro DeMystified, a Micro book, and Larends notes I am not getting it. I am having the hardest time just getting past one page. Has anyone taken the course before? I know it costs more, but I don't want to take the exam more than once. Has everyone just done the exam? Anyone take the course? Advice would be great.

Thank everyone for the best wishes. I know it can take up to 3 years to complete. What is the average time to complete EC Nursing? I can't wait to see how this Micro test goes, I am still waiting for my materials to come in. This forum is just amazing. I am so glad that I found it, and get to know you all!

OK, this is my first post. I am a hospital corpsman in the Navy, and I have been a sailor for 6 years as of yesterday. I am taking my next biggest step in life, I have decided to attend EC. I put in my application last week, and requested all of my previous transcripts. I am looking to hear back from EC. I figured since I will be in NC for another year I might as well knock out my dream goal (to be a nurse). I have ordered a Microbiology book, Micro deMystified, and Laredas discs. I am so excited to be able to do this. This is the one course I know I will have to do, so I will work to study and take the exam next month. I want to take one test a month. I was a nursing assistant for four years before being a corpsman, and I am going to do some volunteer work at the hospital a few towns over so I can regain some of my skills. I am posting this as I want to succeed through EC, and I figure I should submerge myself with others with similar goals. This was pretty much my intro, and I look forward to any and all advice, and I guess I look forward to learning from the rest of you!
