  1. I had a horrible night with one if my private duty pts. I have been with her for over a year and switched from days to nights(to help out in a bad staffing situation). Any way... Last night she politely informed me that because I'm "just" an LPN I give her substandard care. This pt has 24hr nursing in her home and only one nurse is an RN. So does that mean all if her staff sucks?! Just wondering if any one else has had this happen because they are "just" an LPN?
  2. Not sure where you are. Kroger has just put their brand test strips on the $4 list! The meter is not about $10. Walmart will do OTC syringes fairly in expensive.
  3. I have worked all holidays this year. Finishing off the year right with Xmas eve and night and NYE and day. I work 10p-8a so I get to still participate in the festivities u am just very tired. Can't wait till Wednesday to finally get some sleep!
  4. T-bird I do this ALL the time! I was filling out papers for my kids school meds and the RN laughed at me b/c I had filled out everything on the papers per md orders and even signed the mds name followed by my own with credentials.
  5. I drive 55 mile one way. I work 6a-6p. Getting up at 4a really sucks but u have time to wake up. I do private duty w/ a quad in her home. I love her to death and wouldn't give up the case for anything!
  6. If you do take the position. Do NOT leave the room without having a nurse tag you out. Not even to pee. I had a sitter leave and not tell me the pt fell OOB and broke his arm and had a large gash on his head. She had turned his bed alarm off because it "annoyed" her. She was fired by the family and the facility will no longer allow her to sit with any of the patients Good luck!!
  7. You did the right thing!! Similar thing happened to me in my first LTC position I had only been there 2 weeks. I was written up the next day. When they found out the extent of the pts injuries they removed the write up from my file and apologized. Always go with you gut!!
  8. I work 10p-8a sun - tues. and 6a - 6p thurs - sat. In home health. I a lot of times feel like a zombie. I am an LPN and start school for my BSN in jan. can't wait to be finished so I can have normal hours!!
  9. OMG....I take care of 2 quads. I just lol'd till I cried!!!!
