Dealing with "haters"...
I had family members that were unhappy for me in nursing school. Assumed I had all this money and I was just in nursing, but now that I've been a RN, BSN for a year they are even more envious. My brand new 2013 car doesn't ease their feelings, oh well. I pray for them and continue to love them from a distance. I worry about what I can control.

Temporarily on night shift; too scared to do it
Try taking sublingual b12 tablets. I take one to two during my shift on nights I work. Gives me a boost of energy when I began to feel sleepy. Nights shifters are the coolest!

New Grad with Peer Interview butterflies...
The peer interview I had consisted of two situation questions and several questions about myself. Make sure you write down three questions to ask them. Such as describe your manager in three words, what are some rewarding aspects working with this hospital, and ask about teamwork. If you see me drowning in work, will you offer to help or just watch me sink further and further behind.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
I surely will. I am a RN on a 22 bed Med Surg floor in Rome, Georgia! They were looking for BSN prepared RN and I was the last interview for this position. Interviewed on Monday and had an offer on Thursday. I feel like a million bucks because I was so down about the lousy interview I had last Friday I went to a local temp agency and applied for administrative and secretarial jobs.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
Apply again. Now the questions are like can you pass a medication exam, did you graduate from an accredited school, are you a GA RN, and are you okay with working the shift( 7a-7p or 7p-7a) you are applying for. No supervisory experience. I dont have any information about Grady. I was calling HR trying to speak with someone. One of my girlfriends was bold, she went up there in a suit with her resume. They interviewed her on the spot and she got an offer within hours later. I am afraid I got there and the person in charge wont be there to see me. Waste time and gas.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
I wonder why it is disqualify you during the pre screening. Are you not answering YES to all of the questions. I really would prefer a hospital setting, but I have applied for everything across the board except Hospice. I have applied for State jobs, Mollen Immunization Clinics, Davita Dialysis, hospitals within miles where I live now, LTC, VA hospitals, and I have asked DR offices. I am trying my hardest to be patient but the bills are adding up. No one told me in nursing school it would be this hard. I just knew when I graduated and passed nclex, hospitals would be banging my door down to hire me.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
A visual of the principal lying in the chair popped up in my head, and I literally laughed out loud. I wonder how in the world were these people able to get as far as they have. The lack of professionalism is unreal.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
I have considered and applied for everything except hospice. I am too emotional for hospice. Most practices want medical assistants. I graduated in April with a BSN and I have a friend that graduated in July with MA. She has a job. She had a job a week before she graduated.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
I have a job agent sent up for when new jobs are available. I have applied to so many jobs at Grady once that a message popped up saying " You have reached the maximum amount of application for this facility." I had to wait until the status changed on some to apply for more.

New Grad RN feeling down after a lousy interview.
I don't understand why they are rude. Where is the empathy? They once were where we are now ( interviewing and actively seeking employment). I have noticed it is a lot of who you know and who knows you, and it shouldn't be like that at all.

Thank you all for the kind words. I cancelled my pity party and took your advice. That isn't the manager I would enjoy working with. I had an awesome interview this morning. I was the last one to interview for the position. I left feeling really good about it. So tomorrow or in a couple days, you hear a shout of joy.... It may be me because I will shout it from the highest mountaintop whenever I become employed.
