  1. How many months passed between graduation and your 4th attempt? Love hearing these kind of stories because it gives others that haven't passed hope! That had to of been the best feeling in the world. I graduate in 24 days, if you're still sending the link love to see your notes, i'll PM you the email. again, congrats!
  2. Good Afternoon everyone! Sooooo everything I hear about Med-Surge is awful and it is surely freaking me out for next semester. I have a 16 week summer and I plan on reviewing a lot during this time. I know every class is different but is there any particular subject that you guys think is the core of Med-Surge? Most people just tell me to know as much Patho and Pharm as you can before going into it. Any input and advice is greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Freaked out nursing student.
  3. I started out with a Cardiology III, love it! worth every doll hair
  4. Well if you figure 2000+ people applying and around 250 receiving the scholarship the average GPA for acceptance has to be way up there! And I will for sure be applying, good luck to all!
  5. I'll be applying! I have some good LOR's but my accumulative GPA is a 3.65 so i think that will hurt me. Worst thing they can say is no, so it's worth a shot!
  6. I called H&R Block and they said as of March 12th it will take up to 4 or 6 weeks before we get them! so frustrating.
  7. Good Evening everyone! I'm doing an AFROTC briefing on the medical advancements/changes that i think will happen in the future. As of right now i'm stumped! Anyone have any ideas such as nursing roles, technology changes that could help me narrow my search down?
  8. I'm in Air Force ROTC and its pretty demanding because i have no prior experience withe the military, so i'm starting from scratch pretty much. Since you have prior experience you shouldnt have to worry about learning drill and customs and proper military lingo, just the physical training part which i'm sure you can handle.
  9. Okay i'm pretty much dead set on the military, i just haven't decided which branch is truely right for me, so i'm considering all of them at this point. I talked with a Army healthcare recruiter today about nursing careers in the Army. What i was informed is that it is required 2 years of RN experience to be commissioned as a Army Nurse. But he said i could bypass that by doing ROTC while i'm in school? Is that true? If so is that the same for the Air Force? Can i do AFROTC and graduate from my BSN nursing program and go right into the Air Force as a nurse? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP OUT THIS POOR CONFUSED CHILD! Thanks and have a blessed day!
  10. Is the due date for applications the same every year?
  11. I finished my prereq's freshman termn and will be starting my nursing classes/clinicals this fall semester. Including fall semester i have 6 semesters left in my program which is why i probably will have to apply for the 2014 NCP, i'm alittle late for the 2013. But i wanna get a early start on it because i've heard its a tedious process!
  12. First off good luck with your upcoming selection! Do you care to share some of your credentials, i'm interested in seeing how all of the applicants are shaping up! And to my knowledge you have your sophomore year completed in college which ill be starting my soph. year August 23, i want to get a a early start on my application though. Hows the application process, is it a long process? I'm waiting to get in touch with my recruiter next week. As of right now i'm Current -21 years of age -Sophomore starting fall semester at Ohio University School of Nursing -3.506 Cum GPA (plan on ramping that up this school year, more motivated than ever!) -2 years working experience as a CNA in both hospital setting and nursing home Future Goals -Work on getting letters of recommendation -Get in contact with a recruiter -devoting my life to getting a 4.0 cum for sophomore year -start gathering information on other certifications such as ACLS, PALS and such
  13. Saw a Air Force NTP 2013 and it had great discussion and talk so might as well start a NCP for the navy as well? Anyone applying or looking into the NCP for 2013? or already in the NCP that would like to give us newbies some advice and tips?
  14. Sorry for butting into the conversation but you guys have a rookie chippin' in! I've spent the past couple days reading and gaining as much information and knowledge as i can, and just recently started posting. I'm not in the navy nor a nurse yet but very interested in the NCP for 2013 and you guys seem like the right people to talk to. If you guys don't mind could you shed some light on the application process, your qualifications before you applied, how you went about apply, advice and tips? Current -21 years of age -Sophomore starting fall semester at Ohio University School of Nursing -3.506 Cum GPA (plan on ramping that up this school year, more motivated than ever!) -2 years working experience as a CNA in both hospital setting and nursing home Future Goals -Work on getting letters of recommendation -Get in contact with a recruiter -devoting my life to getting a 4.0 cum for sophomore year -start gathering information on other certifications such as ACLS, PALS and such Congrats to everyone on their current successes and accomplishments! Take care, -Josh
  15. I agree, patience is key but its going to be hard to deal with that being all amped up on excitement to learn about such a great opportunity! I wish i didn't discover this website till 2 years down the road lol I guess i can start my countdown of 730 days till i can actually turn in a application. Everyones input has been greatly appreciated tonight but work comes early in the AM so i'm shutting it down for the night. Good luck to everyone and i'll be sure to check back and see how all your guys applications turned out!
  16. good deal, i'll wait and hopefully get a response to that question. and for my last question of the night... how did you get contacted with your af healthcare recruiter. when trying to get in touch with someone with the navy this past month it seriously has been taking me forever to get contacted by a healthcare recruiter. does it normally take awhile to talk with a healthcare recruiter and is it normally through phone calls or is it possible to set up a meeting to meet with someone in person? i'm only talking about the healthcare recruiters because from what you guys have been saying it's pretty much no good talking to a regular recruiter?
  17. Anyone that was as lost as i was when is started reading this post google search "Air Force Nursing Information Booklet" and it will direct you to a great information booklet that summarizes nursing in the Air Force! and alot of the stuff people have been talking about! Question time again! Okay so i'm not very "military smart" when it comes to the service. The passion, teamwork, and overrall life experience is what fuels me to learn more about the military and all branches. I'm going to play the "what if" game... So what if i were to go through with this application process my junior year, complete my BSN, pass my NCLEX, doing the NTP and all that good stuff and get choosen. That means I go in as a O-1 Second Lieutenant right? How soon do you advance ranks?
  18. Thanks for the fast response! and i have looked into the NCP and contacted a navy recruiter to get information on that. It's crazy how competitive these fields are and seeing some of your guys qualifications! Really has opened my eyes and has put me in the right mindset to start preparing in advance. I'll just keep reading and gaining as much knowledge as i can.
  19. You guys got a newbie joining the post! I've spent my last 2 hours reading every page of this post lol very good information so far! I'm a sophomore at Ohio University and just got accepted into the nursing program last month. I'm still undecided on what career path i want to take whether it be the Navy or the Air Force. Seeing all this excitement for the air force is really making anxious to look further more into it! I've had a passion to pursue nursing in the military and this post is giving me a lot more motivation to be even more successful this coming school year! I will be putting great consideration for the NTP 2013 or 2014 as i continue to learn more. Current -21 years of age -Sophomore starting fall semester at Ohio University School of Nursing -3.506 Cum GPA (plan on ramping that up this school year, more motivated than ever!) -2 years working experience as a CNA in both hospital setting and nursing home Future Goals -Work on getting letters of recommendation -Get in contact with a recruiter -devoting my life to getting a 4.0 cum for sophomore year -start gathering information on other certifications such as ACLS, PALS and such Current Questions -So i cant even send in a application for NTP till my junior year of school right? -Where do i even start? I'm guessing getting in contact with a Air Force Medical Recruiter is my best bet? haha I'm excited for everyone that has sent in applications and i'm just as nervous for you guys! Good luck and i cant wait to see all who has gotten choosen! Take care, -Josh
