CSU-Pueblo Accelerated BSN
Congratulations! I regret not applying there, I hear it's a good school from friends who started pre-nursing 'next door' at UCCS in Co Springs. What all did you have to do to apply other than pre-reqs? I know I tried to contact them a few times but didn't get a response that I know of.

Regis ABSN- Summer 2013
Yes, CU call list. Not even an alternate for Regis. Maybe you can give me some interview tips before the next round of Regis. :)

Regis ABSN- Summer 2013
Yes, they didn't like me (not even as much as CU!). I was getting hopeful this time around and was really starting to like Regis a lot. But I originally applied as soon as I could hoping that having a mediocre/strong application the first time and then being able to submit an even stronger application a second time (pre-req's done, slightly better GPA, and some actual experience, etc.) might get me somewhere. I was surprised to even get interview invites (not that my "credentials" are at all bad), but interviews definitely made me hopeful! I'm hoping I was turned down (completely!) because I had nowhere near as many qualifications as any of the other candidates I met, and not something terrible/unlikable I did at the interview. But I am really happy to hear of you getting in and it makes me hopeful that being persistent will pay off eventually! Congrats again :)

Regis ABSN- Summer 2013
Congratulations Kerleigh! When did you find out?

Regis ABSN- Summer 2013
No, they told us we'd find out early December though. Did Regis say they'd email us too, not just letters?

Those who got acceptance, care to share what your qualifications were as far as undergrad GPA, what your major was, pre-req GPA, healthcare/volunteer experience, and how good you thought your essay/interview was/went? I haven't been able to check my mail for travel reasons and it is very scary knowing my future either way could be sitting in my mailbox 800 miles away.

No! And had to leave today to travel for Thanksgiving, won't get to check mail again till Saturday.

eando, I was impressed with how qualified everyone was, and how great everyone even in my groups' answers were too! I don't know how they are going to make such a large cut again after the interview! And yeah, I've heard 10-12 days and before Thanksgiving. :) I didn't realize how much I would start frantically checking the mail once the interview piece was over. Good luck to both of us! And kerleigh722, thank you! I've been hearing people guessing up to five. My interview is Friday but I have lived in Colorado my entire life. I really hope it's not a bad sign that I am not from out of state. Are you interviewing this time around for Regis?

Did anyone attend CU's interview day today and have any input on what it was like for them? I was there today, and thought it went more smoothly than I expected. Also, no one seemed to know or were unable to tell us when we'd find out whether we were admitted/alternate-listed/denied. Does anyone know how long it takes after the interview to find out? Eando-if you haven't had your interview yet, the questions they ask aren't "weird" at all and aren't really meant to throw you off. But there's almost as much time spent asking the interviewers questions as there was being asked things by them, so I'd suggest having a few prepared! And Kerleigh722, that's scary, my undergrad overall is just under 3.5 and I have NO experience (only retail/customer service). 4.0 in pre-reqs was all I had going for me. Would you care at all to share a little of what your Regis interview was like? I have one next week. How many people are in the room interviewing you?

I'm not sure about how all groups were divided, but my group was accelerated only (and a few of us accelerated also okay with being considered for traditional if not accelerated). The groups are predetermined before the interview starts. I'm not totally sure, but I think you are scored for your essay, GPA (and the science pre-reqs), as well as your interview, then they evaluate your total score. I'm sure a lot of the point of the interview is too see if you are polite, enthusiastic about the program (really intend to attend if accepted/have done a little homework), and give an impression that you can commit to and succeed in the program. Also perhaps to see if anyone is rude, aggressive (speaking over others/not listening to others or what's being asked) or seem uninterested despite high GPA's and well-written essays. My group had only four students, not five like they said in the email. Also, the interview was almost the last part of the day, not right after check-in like my email said. The interviewers were friendly. The day was interesting and almost over by noon. There weren't very many questions, and none too "weird" to throw you off and no solving problems as a group to demonstrate teamwork or anything like that (which I was afraid of!). In fact, I'd say we spent nearly as much time asking the interviewers questions as they did asking us, so have a few prepared! The student in the interview also asks and answers questions. There's no order in who answers questions, but everyone gets a chance to answer everything. If you have any other questions other than exactly what the questions they ask are, I'm more than happy to tell you as much as I can. Learning a little of what to expect before the interview started helped me a lot. Not knowing what you're walking into can be intimidating. Just make sure you behave the way you do in the interview throughout the whole day--I'd bet they check a little to see if interview behavior is just an act for anyone.

Hi guys, was anyone at CU's interview day today? My interviewer and other applicants were unsure of when we would get accepted/alternate listed/denied. Does anyone know how long the wait might be before we find out? And they are going to email before sending a letter (if sending a letter at all), right? And how did everyone feel about interview day in general?

Better chance of getting into nursing program with BA?
What's your pre-req only GPA, not all of undergrad? I talked to a nurse and she went through an accelerated BSN program at a very competitive school and had a 3.1 undergrad GPA in psychology, no volunteer/healthcare experience.

Huge List of A&P Videos
Cool, thank you for sharing your effort to put this all together! I've had so much come up this semester and was just looking for good videos to study while taking a "break" and eating for a few minutes.

Weird, but missing my old state's nurses union!
Hi, I have not even started nursing school, but during and after getting my first bachelors I worked for nearly five years in a grocery store. Why, whenever I read personal accounts from real nurses on what nursing is really like, nursing sounds incredibly a lot like working in retail except with a whole, whole lot more training required (obviously) and with human lives on the line?
