  1. Thank you for the article. However the info about my job history and being unhappy is not true. Before you assume things you may want to ask or just stick to the subject at hand. Best of luck to you!
  2. I'm trying. I have prior exp In recruiting/ human resource. I also have a bachelors degree in nursing and business.
  3. Thanks! I'm thinking about back to human resources. The nursing career isn't what I really thought it would be. Sad..
  4. Good luck to you! How long have you been a nurse for?
  5. Hi- Anyone get out of the nursing field or know someone that has? What are they transferring into? Any feedback would be great appreciative!
  6. I also work in anticoagulant clinic. We handle Coumadin, Pradaxa, eliquis, xarelto and lovenox. A lot is patient teaching, changing medications, adjusting doses, triage, problem solving, critical thinking: mi, stroke. It's very very busy. We have about 1100 Coumadin patients. I do like it for the most part. Good luck to you. I worked in patient for about 1 yr, I would much rather work out patient.
  7. I paid 53k for a bachelors in nursing 1 yr, it's horrible!
  8. Ugh!! That sucks! I have a prior degree in business administration with human resource exp. I think I'm heading back there. Nursing isn't what I thought it was going to be. Good luck !
  9. So what are you doin with a MBA?
  10. I'm thinking about going back to human resource field. Currently an RN with about 2 yrs exp.
  11. Really has been crossing mind lately.
  12. Hi I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same way i do, I hate floor nursing?!?? I did it for about a yr.
  13. How much exp did you have? I feel like I'm never going to get into the OR.
  14. I work for a cardiologist and we are closed the day after thanksgiving and Xmas eve :)
  15. I agree!!! Good luck :) I'm going to the doctor today for the same problem.
  16. Good luck! I'm in the same boat. Going to see my doctor tomorrow. Your not alone. Take care of yourself! Just because med surg isn't your thing doesn't mean you should give up on nursing.
  17. Thank you for the advise! I've also been told technical skills can be taught as well. I'm just trying to find myself and my niche and its been super frustrating... I've got about 6 months exp and I have some not great experiences... Some days I question if I've even made the right choice with nursing... I didn't like med surg, I would like to keep my skills up so I'm trying to get a prn position. I worry so much about it I'm trying myself crazy, maybe I need inpatient therapy lol.
  18. If you know psych is the only thing you want to do don't go into med surg, unless you have too. My first position was psych and I really enjoyed it!
  19. Thank you for posting this I totally agree! Task orientated sums up a medical floor!! Maybe that's why I hate med surg and love psych. I do hear a lot that I won't be marketable in the future cuz I'm a psych nurse... Whatever that's the only part of nursing that I feel comfortable with. I hated med surg...
  20. I did med surg a few months. On our floor we did everything. No CNA's. vitals, sugars, weights, brief changing, q2 turns. On top of my meds assessments admissions.. I started having bad anxiety diarrhea every shift... So I put my notice in and accepted the psych position. Good luck life is too short to be miserable.
  21. Hi, sounds like a typical med surg floor. I too was in the same situation. You can your manager to keep you longer with your preceptor for more training?!?! I ended up accepting a psych position. Keep applying to other positions. Good luck the first yr is super rough!
  22. That's awesome congrats!!!!!
