I would like to ask your advice please..I'm new LVN working at LTC with 40 residents.It's been 2 weeks already since I hired and working 2days ago by myself.I have a hard time dealing wit Cna's sometimes and with the residents that always refused to take their meds.Please advice guys on how to deal with this work as a new charge nurse.And what should I do with those resident always refused taking their meds.Very much appreciated your advice!!!

I've seen a lot of these in LTC.If nurses are busy they just put the medicine cup on the tray and that's automatic that cna's have to give it to the patient.Well,maybe they have trust their cna's on that case esp when they know them already..It was happened at one time when the nurse put the medicine cup on the patient's tray but the patient went to sleep and forgot to take it.The next day all nurses were called up by the administrator because the dietary supervisor found the medicine on the tray.I understand that it's very busy in the morning esp when there is admission and its time to pass meds but relying on the patient or cna's is not safe thing to do.

  19. ...the fact that we are not perfect,we make a lot of mistakes.But don't let mistakes undermine you instead learned from it...you're not the only one did a wrong act and made an incident report maybe others made a worst act than yours..

  21. hi i forgot what was in number 5..i recieved a letter from the board last friday with a record of nursing program form included.They has recieved my delacration form and has updated my file.They didn't mention if they already recieved my papers comin from school.i called in the school and they told me that they sent it 3weeeks ago.so maybe on monday im going to call in the board if they recieved a letter from my school or should i have to send this form to my school again...stil,i have more months to wait for evaluation. congratz dragon_lady...:yelclap:

  23. ...using therapeutic communication with the patient is very effective especially when they feeling down...maybe because i speak softly thats comforting for the patient and being a good listener..
