  1. Does anyone belong to or know of any good ob-gyn nursing orgaizations magazines or etc to belong to for information and up to date info? I like Nursing 2005 magazine, but would like something more tailored to ob-gyn or anything to help me since I'm a new ob-gyn nurse for a doctors office.
  2. Help!!!! I just accepted a positon as an RN for an OB/GYN office. I graduated just this past may and honestly don't remember much or know much, for exaple all the procedures, labs to be drawn for this or for that and I won't be recieving much training- its the type of job that you ask when you don't know something-well that is almost everything for me! From the abbreviations that are used to most common meds and etc. Does anyone have any advice!!!! I have only been on the job 1.5 days I like it but feel incompetent w/my lack of knowledge. Any good books or etc that would apply to the OB/GYN office setting? Thanks, for anyones help!!!
  3. Hey all!!!! I am a newer nurse and I just accepted a position this am for a womens only doctors office. Can anyone recommend any good books since I will be exposed to everything from prenantal to menopause and everything else along the way. I saw a lot of books regarding babies and NICU stuff, but that isn't what I am looking for. Thanks for any suggestions!!
  4. Thanks for your input and your honesty!!! I will look carefully into it, thanks again!
  5. Howdy ya'll, I have an interview next week w/childrens mercy downtown kansascity, mo for NICU. Has anyone ever or dose anyone work there and can give me any heads up on what its like? I have only toured the facility about a year ago. Thanks much!!!
  6. Sounds like you have a nice fit. What I have always been told is do what fits your lifestlye for now and as your life or you are changing so can your nursing career! I have 2yrs as an LPN @ assisted living, 8months on med/surg tele as a patient care tech, and after graduating w/my RN this past may I worked on the Burn Unit in a hospital and left after only 3 months. I really don't have a desire right now to work in a hospital and would LOVE to work in a clinic so I could have weekends/holidays off. I to have wondered if I would be kicking myself in the butt if I didn't have more experience in the hospital, but others have told me that is not the case. So for now I am looking for a job in a doctors office/clinic.
  7. Jeri, do you currently work in NICU? One of the areas I have been pondering over is womens health, I am very interested in this area but I have been told that most places want you to have X number of years experience prior to entering this specialty. Any comments regarding this?
  8. Ok I am sooooooooooo confused about my career! I graduated in 2003 w/my LPN- worked at an assisted living for Alzheimiers, and then hospital as a tech on a med/surg tele floor. Just this past May I graduated w/my RN and took a job on the Burn unit @ my local University Hospital. I feel like such a bad person, because I went through all this schooling and just left my job after only 3 months, becuase I decided I love the knowledge, but don't like being at the bedside! Am I a bad person? And will I be setting myself up for failure if I don't work in a hospital for a Certain (unknown) amount of time? And if so where is a good area for someone who dosn't really have any direction in where she wants to go into nursing should work? I have thought about and recently applied to work in clinics. Right now I have been sitting at home for just over a week trying to decided what to do w/myself and reading in my nursing books- I guess looking for an answer. Please any advice would be great!!!!
  9. Howdy all! My name is Melissa, I graduated this past May, passed boards with the maximum number in July, and my first job was on the burn unit, which I no longer work on after 3 months. Currently I am confused as to where to work after leaving the burn unit. Any suggestions of areas that people are enjoying?
  10. Hey, I will be graduating in 2 weeks-yeahhhh!!! Anywho I am in the market for a new stethoscope. The two that look appealing for what they have to offer are the 3m-littmann master classis 2 or littman classic 2 SE Does anyone know anything about these models or any suggestions on one that works really well?
