Congrats! I start this fall too, and im trying to figure out how i'm going to pay for everything as well.

Working while in school
Thats my dilema right now too, Im currently working full time, and trying to change my situation for this fall so that I can focus completley on nursing school and not work. Its going to be stressfull to see my debt pile up in loans though.

What is the first thing you are going to buy once you are a nurse?
I plan to pay off my school loans first, but then I would have to make a decision on buying a nicer house or a nicer car....tough one. I'll probably do both ha

Why did you become a nurse?
I wanted to do something in the medical feild, and saw that nursing had endless oppurtunites, and you could specialize in almost anything. Its a career with job security and great pay, so I based my desicion pretty much on what would give me the most oppurtunities.

I will be 21 when I start the program this fall

Experienced Student Nurses...advice?
I too start this coming fall and plan on buying some of the nursing incredibly easy series to review during the summer.

Low GPA...Getting accepted
It does depend on the school, my school I have heard once you are accepted into the program your gpa starts over. Beside your prereq gpa is as good as can be. I wouldnt worry about it.

How many textbooks are required for your first semester?
I havent found out how many books I will be buying for my first semester, but they did tell us it would be $1400, the first semester and $700 the second semester. Im just hoping that all the books from the first year carry over to the second year.

How did you decide on what type of nurse you wanted to be?
I have always wanted to go straight on to nurse anestisist after finishing nursing school, however I find that there are several different specialties I would also like such as a cardiac nurse, or being a nurse educator.

What was your GPA when you got accepted into nursing?
I just got accepted inot USC's program in SC with a gpa of 3.6
