I did talk to him about it and said its not ok that you went into detail about it, it's not ok you are telling me this and not the patient and it's not ok that your telling me his wife is a patient of ours as well. It should come from the patient himself.

It's actually not the patient it's the doctor himself who was telling this please DO NOT say I am not suited for this position. I don't know if you read my other comments but I have never ever ever been triggered like this before. I was getting mad that the doctor was telling me this and not the patient. It should be confidential between the doctor and the patient. If the patient had told me that would be a different story. I have been involved with SANE as a CNA and worked on labor and delivery.

Thank you. I had asked this question in another group and people were getting really nasty with me. Saying I shouldn't be working in health care, which obviously set me off even more because I have been in health care for 5 plus years it's all I know as a career.

Like this patient is being abused by his wife and going into details about it. It really triggered me as an abuse survivor myself. I have never been triggered while working in health care, never ever. So much to the point where I had to call my therapist this weekend because I was having a panic attack. She pretty much told me your a medical assistant your not doing a psych eval, your not their therapist and it's ok to put those boundaries up.

I am a ccma and I work at a doctors office. Is it ever ok to tell the doctor that you are working for you don't want to know certain information about your patients?

Hi I am an aide who recently got transferred from the float pool to mom/baby/nicu I know a lot about med/surg dementia care rehab and caring for older people, but i am just starting to learn how to care for newborns and their moms. Does anyone have any learning resources? I would like to be able to better answer new moms and dads questions without having to run back and forth between the nurse all the time. there are resources to look at on the unit but i can't take those home with me. I don't have any kids myself and I don't have my lactation class until this wednesday. I know the basics like vital signs how to change a diaper how to bottle feed (not encouraged at my hospital) but i would like to know more about the patients i am caring for. Thank you in advance!!!

Unfortunately they don't have a Pyxis at this nursing home and they don't have an emar just paper and pencil what really ****** me off though is this girl in my group stuck herself with a dirty needle after giving insulin and you know what the instructor said...oh bless her she's so sweet...and no U no paper no disciplinary measures she just got sent out to get her blood tests done even though he had to inform a lot of people and do a lot of paperwork...I don't mean to sound whiney but I'm pretty sure he's playing favorites He is a lazie-fare type teacher when it comes to passing meds yes we have to do our drugs and write out what each one does but he lets us give them by ourselves and just has us tell him what patient were giving meds to...he tells us all the time that he used to be the administrator of the facility and still works for the company and is an administrator at another one of their nursing home he sits and the station and chats it up with the other nurses honestly there's no one to tell him that he needs to pay more attention to his students or tell him what he needs to do because he doesn't give a **** this is his last semester teaching and he's made it clear and there are only three teachers for our program and one of them is the head

I did catch my mistake right after I gave it to the pt and I owned up to my mistake a lot of people wouldn't and there have been others in my group that has made either a med error or some other type of error but I was the only one that had to write a paper on it. If we as students have had errors I don't understand why he isn't going over the meds with us before we passed also I wasn't tired that day I got to sleep I think what happened besides getting the date wrong I was being too careful about my meds. You know how when your too careful or when your concentrating too hard you miss over things? If not then it might just be me...

Think about your a b c's and maslows is nutrition deficit really that important right now? Maybe in the future and if your going to go with that one again think of Maslow and her own perceptions about pain and medication you can only lead the horse to the water but you can't make him drink it or something like that.

How did you learn your lab numbers? Are flash cards for this the best like pharm? Thank you

I feel like if you know your drug classes you will be good like your statins (hmg co a inhibitors) (the only reason why I know that action is because I probably had to look up every single statin twice for my note cards) I'm in the same boat as you are and it sucks but it's all memory and recall if you look at things enough you will get it if anything I know my statins right now but tomorrow I may forget and learn a different group I don't know if your teacher is concerned with knowing every single drug and their action in the body but mine is more concerned about if we know the group the drug is in have a general idea of what it does in the body and nursing considerations and if course common side effects

Have you gotten your ears checked lately? It may be because you just have a hard time hearing they have stethoscopes that amplify the sound so you can hear it better they are electronic and I have seen them they cost around 80 bucks if you want to invest in one

Yes I understand thyroid meds can do harm if given in large doses but the dose was relatively low 25mcg and I do agree our meds should be double checked by the rn but they aren't i had even asked my teacher about the med too because it wasn't in the cart..he should have cought it. The med had been given earlier and I misread the day (they still use paper charting) I thought it wasn't given..it was an honest mistake something to be learned from

Sorry I just need to vent. It was a terrible day at clinical today. I made my first med error. I thought it was the 21st so I accidentally gave a sunrise med.(levothyroxine) I pretty much got chewed out by my teacher and have to write a paper about the 6 medication administration rights due Monday and I have to finish my pharm and mental health homework. I know med errors are not to be down played or anything but everyone makes them and if you were to make a med error levothyroxine would be an ok one to make it on because it doesn't do much harm. My teacher just made me feel like an idiot. My clinical teacher is also my pharm and mental health teacher and he told me that I talk too much in class and I need to focus...I'm really sorry but I come straight from work to class I work 12 hour night shifts at a hospital so I'm pretty dead I don't talk.. If anything I'm trying to keep myself awake during his lectures. When he said that last part that's what really made me upset. Sorry it's a really long rant and thank you for reading

Lol I know it's very important for patient safety but I always thought pharmacy did the calculations and you double check thank you guys for trying to help I've been on those sites and furiously looking at my book trying to understand it

So I've always been curious about this. I work in the hospital in the float pool and sometimes I get floated to the oncology floor. I take cimzia a biologic Ned that suppresses your immune system and maybe thinking of switching back to remicaide or 6mp I know 6mp is classified as an oral chemo and remicaide is also classified as a chemo drug I don't know about cimzia but being on these drugs is it still safe for me to care for a patient on nutrapenic precautions? The nurses I asked didn't really know and I'm more worried about the patients safety for having an imminosupressed care giver taking care of them

Thank you it's just a lot formulation memorization math is not my strong suit those websites helped a lot I really didn't think in the real world that they used a lot of the calculations but I was talking to a nurse I work with at the hospital and she said they use it all the time and I better learn it so thank you

So I took the class and in retaking it now and I'm struggling with calculations. Can someone please explain to me how to do these calculations in a way that a first grader can understand? We did the calc test already and I got a 70 on it which dropped my grade down to a 76 and I need a 77 to pass so our next test is on IV calculations and I am having trouble with that too thank you in advance!

Honestly 2 grand isn't bad I paid 6000 for one semester it's hard look at fasfa take out the pell grants and I have some loans through sallie Mae that are deferred

I think CoD (college of dupage) still has their rn prorgram but I know ECC has a good program if you are willing to drive to Elgin from Chicago

It depends on the state. I did mine in a semester which was 16 weeks Monday through Wednesday 9 am to 12 pm and Thursday clinical day from 2 pm to 11 pm this is in IL by the way
