  1. this is the new trend in auscultation... very fashionable and I am lovin' it :)
  2. My 12 hour shift will not kill me... but this stethoscope will surely do..
  3. i'm a workaholic nurse.. I shouldn't be here.. I should be in the hospital earning 1.5 times my pay.. It's really THANKSgiving!! lol
  4. Hi everyone. I have some questions regarding endorsement of RN license. This might sound silly but I want to know or at least know your opinion regarding this. Situation: I am a licensed RN in state A. I want to practice in state B. Aside from the endorsement process, can I just apply for RN license thru NCLEX-RN examination instead of endorsement? I mean. I will apply my license thru NCLEX-RN examination and have my current state board of nursing (state A) forward the results of my NCLEX-RN exam to the state board (state B)? Is that theoretical idea possible? may I know your opinion guys? you can send me private messages here regarding this topic.. thank you..
  5. Big batmans don't cry. Now, let me see where it hurts..
  6. May i know whether texas requires a SSN for an issuance of a permanent license? And is SSN needed for renewals? I'm a foreign nurse licensed in another state.
  7. A skin test will not confirm that you have TB.. It will just confirm if you are exposed to tuberculosis or its causative agent..
  8. i wonder if they will say to you on the spot right after the final interview if you are qualified or not to undergo their training.. does anyone have some ideas about this?
  9. Will they say right away if you qualify or not after a final interview? or will you wait for some more days before they notify you?
  10. sorry for my words.. but my experience with that application center is a bit disappointing.. i suggest that if you have a target date or month to take your NCLEX, you better work and apply on your own.. that application center caters so many applicants that you will have to wait and wait.. it's just like you are in a long line, however, they have a so called priority applicant (which is paid for another fee).. at my own point of view, their service fees on every step of the application is way way too much.. it's really cheaper if you'll apply on your own.. with regards to the process.. CGFNS and the state board' s websites will provide all the necessary materials and forms you need.. for me it is really user friendly since they provide detailed instructions which the applicant can easily understand.
  11. i heard that they also conduct psych and iq exams.. just curious though, is it really possible for one to "fail" on these exams? any experience about this nurses?
  12. this is really bothersome.. will this also affect renewals of licenses? about the IELTS.. i think they don't require IELTs for them to give you eligibility to seat for NCLEX..
  13. just wondering if this will also affect renewals of licenses..
  14. ABG Interpretations Always Remember: **"ROME"R espiratory O pposite M etabolic E qual **NORMALS pH= 7.35-7.45 HCO3= 22-26 (some books it's up to 27) PCO2= 35-45 **ABNORMALS pH below 7.35= acidosis above 7.45= alkalosis ** THE NEXT STEPS AFTER DETERMINING WHETHER RESPIRATORY OR METABOLIC abnormal PCO2= RESPIRATORY abnormal HCO3= METABOLIC with this step.. you must apply the ROME rule.. RESPIRATORY OPPOSITE respiratory acidosis= below normal pH + above normal PCO2 respiratory alkalosis= above normal pH + below normal PCO2 *note that the direction of the values of pH and PCO2 are at the 'opposite' direction METABOLIC EQUAL metabolic acidosis= below normal pH + below normal HCO3 metabolic alkalosis= above normal pH + above normal HCO3 *note that the direction of the values of pH and HCO3 are at 'equal' or same direction ABG interpretation would be very easy.. you'll go better if you keep on practicing.. and it won't end on the mere interpretation on this values.. as a nurse.. i suggest you must also know the appropriate interventions for these acid and base imbalances. :)
