Any benefits with joining Phi Theta Kappa?
Invitation to Phi Theta Kappa is offered to students proving academic success. People say its worth joining. But what I want to know is if it's beneficial to join as a student with a nursing major??? Have any of you joined and it helped open any doors for you as far as scholarships and nursing school??

Can a teacher do this?
Be careful what you post on this site people are extremely negative and almost always think they are better and smarter than you...I suggest looking for advice elsewhere because people here most of the time never want to support you its pathetic to me. I've read so many threads on this site and its disgusting how some of the people respond. People get on here looking for advice and support from fellow nurses and students and basically everyone just tells you to suck it up and get over it. I understand that the nursing field is tough and constructive criticism is ok and definitely necessary but there is a way to say it. And everyone needs to remember that we all start from the same places and were once in each other shoes.

Anybody else tired of taking pre-reqs?

What is the point of becoming a nurse?!
Nursing is and will always be one of the most in demand jobs there is...NEVER have I ever heard of a shortage on jobs for RN. One of the most secure jobs you can have. Nurses are needed EVERYWHERE. With a RN license you will ALWAYS have a job.

I Love My Job!
Thanks for this post!! I'm only a pre-nursing student and its nice to hear a POSITIVE story about someone's experience fresh out of school and actually working. It's awesome you usually only hear horror stories which I'm soooo tired of hearing. I mean I know that nursing is not an easy job and that it does comes with a lot of negatives but it's good to hear someone place emphasis on the positives. It reminds me why I want to do this. Congratulations on your new found happiness!!

Why are people so ignorant?
Maybe she secretly wants to be a nurse but just didn't have the kahunas to go for it!!! It takes ALOT OF HARDWORK AND BRAINS to become a nurse. She's probably jealous that you have the drive to go for it and your actually going to have a career that will make a difference in this world. Don't worry about it. It takes special people to become nurses. You are making an awesome decision.

Feeling discourage for my broken English
Of course don't give up your dreams!! Everyone will have some type of obstacle to pass through before becoming a nurse. You will have plenty time to work on your obstacles before you start your career. I'm a pre-nursing student working on pre-requisites as well. Though I won't have a problem with any language barriers there are a ton of other obstacles that I've learned that I will have to pass through before I fully become a nurse oneday. We all will have them. It's just good that we recognize them early so that we can pay special attention to those things that may hold us back and work on them every chance we get. Don't let it hold you back you have plenty of time left to work on those things to make you the best nurse you can be!!! Good luck!!

Is 31 too old to start a nursing career?
No!! It's never too late go for it! I will be starting nursing school around the same age and I used to think just like you. Until I realized that I was starting my future at the perfect age because I was older I knew I was less prone to jumping into something that I didn't really have my heart into. So Good Luck!!
