TCU Accelerated BSN
Reserve at Oak Hill and the Marquis at Stonegate are both really close. Be sure and ask about a student discount...they might knock 3-5% off. There is also Bellaire Ranch (I think it's a Marquis property too) that's more pricey and is next to the Trinity. There are brand new student apartments right across the street...my mind just went blank but you can't miss it if you're standing at the nursing building.

Best/Hardest/Worst nusring class?
Congratulations! You are about to embark on probably one of the most interesting experiences of your life :welcome: As for my hardest class....I would say A&P (anatomy and physiology) with an emphasis on anatomy (TONS of memorization). The hardest nursing specific class I've had was Adult I. We had a killer teacher and she moved at a very fast pace. Have you heard the standing in front of a fire hydrant analogy (spraying at you so hard you can only drink so much)?? Pharmacology and Adult II are no picnic either but for some reason I seemed to be able to grasp these classes better. Enjoyable classes.... Pedi is kind of neat (especially the clinical) and I enjoyed Psych and Maternity clinicals quite a bit as well :)

salary--dfw
Actually, when I toured a Ft Worth hospital, I was told that after you pass NCLEX you get bumped to 21 an hour (from 19.50) + there's $3ish an hour more for nights and $4-5 for weekends...Childrens and Cook Childrens both pay more I've heard. As a new grad, I expect to work nights (and probably a lot of weekends too) so when you add it up, it's not too shabby.

NCLEX & hurst review?
Our class is going to take a live Hurst Review....they were recommended by the nursing school. HTH!

Accelerated BSN Advice
I'm also finishing an accelerated BSN program and agree a lot with what Annabelle said. Also: -attend class! (should be a given) -do the readings! (again given) -don't be discouraged if it's not "fun" - nursing school is a different beast from other majors and finally - keep a school/life balance. My priority will always be my family and my sanity. Others in my program might disagree but they stay super stressed out. Don't feel like you have to keep up with the Jones' (aka your classmates). As long as I do well enough to graduate, pass boards, and be competitive for grad school, my work is done.

RN moving to TX from CA
I live in Fort Worth and really like it. Don't base your decision off of the weather in Houston...not all places are hot and stinky like that :)

TCU Anybody???
I'm there! I'll finish the ABT program in August. Feel free to PM me with your questions :)

Anyone done TCU's accelerated BSN?
Of course I personally think it's worth it :) But it's not a decision to take lightly. As for the BSN, I really think it's the way to go. If you already have a bachelors, why go back to get an ADN (2 years+) instead of an accelerated BSN (15 months)? You will have more options...ok..off of my soapbox  Do what you wanna do. That's what it all comes down to!

Anyone done TCU's accelerated BSN?
Oh and yes you are right on with the cost...in the 50K ballpark. However, if you don't have any other student loans (from your undergrad for example), it's a little more bearable. I would advise going straight to a BSN and getting it over with. But then again I want to go to grad school. It all depends on your plans....

Anyone done TCU's accelerated BSN?
I'm currently in the middle of TCU's program (this is my second degree from TCU as well...true horned frog!). All I can say is it is intense! In ways it wasn't as bad as I had imagined (I have a big imagination) but it is a lot of work. There is really no way you can work outside of the program (mayyyybe one shift a week but you'd be really tired!). Some professors are better than others but the program directors are really great. I would advise to apply early decision (Oct 1) as it is quite competitive. I don't know anything about TWU so I can't help you there. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me :)

Nursing School Blues??
Me! I just flunked a test today...bleh...I had 1 A and the rest B's ...now looking at a C it seems. I think it's pretty common to feel clueless most of the time. I know I do! I also have a hard time doing the most basic skills (drawing up a shot :uhoh21: ).... we'll get it one day. Hang in there!! I've invested too much $$$ to back out now. I'm hoping that I'll find an area (Psych or Forensics maybe) that intrigues me.
