  1. What requirements did they change over the last few months?
  2. Hi, Can you explain what tests are usually like in nursing school? Like what do you need to get A's in nursing school? I'm not great w/ tests as I tend to contradict myself and I get nervous. I have to work harder than other people to get A's on my exams. Thanks!
  3. Oh thanks! What kind of culture shock, may you explain it to me? Over here, there are many different ethincities and races compared to others! So I will probably be very suprised. And is it dangerous over there?
  4. Hello, Yes it is hard! For one of the most popular schools here they have a 5 year waiting list and you literally need MIN. 3.7 for a BSN. It is much wiser to purse an ADN here then BSN actually (if you started on track). I talked to my counselor and he says if I pursued nursing right now it is a complete gamble. This is why I am getting my bachelors in another degree first and then going back for a nursing degree. For my pre-req I got a C in English and C in general psych and this was during my "bad" semester. After that semester I never got another C again, but these 2 classes have really affected me. Btw, which school areas Amnesty?
  5. Most likely end of Nov. 2013. I mean right now I am doing another major, but I might switch to nursing after I graduate. Which school is that? I'm trying to complie a list of schools. Thanks.
  6. Which school do you guys go to? For the ones that can apply before completeting it? I'm trying to apply all across the US, I prefer to stay in California but I might not get in ANY here. So out-of-state is an option. I'm trying to apply to as many schools as I possibly can. I only have a 3.4 gpa. Thanks.
  7. Hello, If I apply to nursing school I wouldn't be able to complete all pre-reqs before applying. But by the end of the Spring and before actually going into nursing school I would complete it. My planned sequence for next year is Fall 2013 (this is when I plan to apply) Anatomy 1 + Microbiology then in Spring it would just be Anatomy 2. Thanks.
  8. I guess I wasnt clear. How long does nursing school take after you transfer?
  9. Yes I know, but I choose another major. So I started late for pre reqs.
  10. If I choose to go into nursing, I would be at a community college for 4 years since I need to do my prereqs. Can I finish it in 2 years? I don't want to stay there for 3 years. Also, I have a 3.4 GPA what are my chances (bay area).Thanks.
  11. Congratulaations :) what was your GPA
  12. Raised my GPA to 3.36! (would that mean 3.4?) I messed up one semester so thats why it raised so little!
  13. At a UC AP1 and AP2 is combined together in 10 weeks. So yes it is doable.
  14. Congratualions! Heres a cookie
  15. I mean theres no way it takes just two years; why is it an "ADN"? It takes the around same amount as a BSN; but its outcome is different.
  16. Lets say someone is willing to relocate anywhere; which schools are the easiest to get in? As in not as competitive.
  17. Congratulations and thanks! So, how were you able to do pre reqs and your BA at the same time? Just taking those classes? Im currently at a community college and I'm transferring in Fall 2013; I actually never though of that. Do you think it would be possible to do Micro + Anatomy at the same time? Because once I transfer I will have upper-division classes and it will be a quarter system. My class does include Anatomy; but I'm not sure if that fits the prereqs because it is only one quarter there. But on assist.org it says it is equivalent to Anatomy 1 and 2 at my community college. And thanks. here is a cookie :)
  18. 1) Well I am a college student and not yet a nursing student, but I would say 20-25 hours is challenging. My counselor told me if I was a full time student ( which is 12 units) 10 hours of work at the most. I had 22 hours of work sometimes everyweek and it was hard (quit though). I would be tired sometimes because I came back at midnight and how was I supposed to study or do homework while I'm dead tired? I missed morning classes though, but I wasn't unprepared or anything. I still maintained a 3.4 GPA for that semester, its possible to do well; just know what classes you CAN miss and what not to. But for nursing I would not suggest it; learn how to. 2. Yes of course; volunteering.
  19. Did you have any volunteer hours? :)
  20. I heard about that to; Im a bit scared to go out of state though, but which states would you recommend?
  21. I was reading it requires actual license like EMT or Medical Assistance, which I do not have time to get any of those license. The reason being I am already working with being a full time student.
  22. Also yes, my parents are paying for my tuition entirely. The only thing I pay for is for books, permits and gas. Do you happen to know about Samuel Merritt acceptance rates than or any private colleges for BSN? If it is a long waiting list; should I try for a BSN than? Or go with my original plan? Also I really would not mind if I moved around CA to get my degree. Thanks
