  1. Congratulations and good luck in your pursuit of employment!
  2. I am quite bummed as I found out today that I was not placed on my unit of choice for my senior clinical. Unfortunately, there were a number of students who desired placement on critical care units and too few spots to meet demand; I was one of the unlucky ones. I was wondering if anyone had insight on a new grad's ability to get a job in critical care if they do not have their leadership clinical on a critical care floor. Also, I am planning to relocate to Arkansas after I graduate in December (to meet back up with my long distance beau) so if anyone has any region-specific advise it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. good luck!
  4. Hi Everyone! I wanted to create a post for those of us who had less-than-stellar undergraduate GPAs but still were accepted to Second Degree BSN programs. I know that I trolled these forums during the time I was taking pre-requisites and applying in order to gain some reassurance that all of my hard work would not be in vain. Thankfully, other posters gave me inspiration that it could be done and I hope that I can continue the inspiration for others like us. I was a student-athlete at an Ivy League school where I proceeded to over-focus on my sport and not in the classroom. As a result, my GPA was a sub-par 2.8. After a few years in the working world I decided to volunteer at my local hospital. I was inspired by the nursing care and decided to pursue a nursing career. I knew that in order to make up for my unacceptable UG GPA I had to get straight A's in my pre-requisites, and proceeded to do so. I also continued volunteering at the hospital and shadowed an RN and an NP. I made sure to obtain excellent recommendations from a professor and my current supervisor at work. I studied for the GREs and got a 1400. It was definitely difficult to manage working full-time, taking classes part-time and volunteering, but in the end it was well worth the effort! I crafted my personal statement as someone who had found their passion and since then done everything in their power to achieve their dream of becoming a nurse. I said that I no longer identified as that under-achieving person and was willing and able to become an asset to the nursing profession. I applied to four Accelerated Second Degree BSN programs and was accepted to three, and in the end decided to attend Penn, where I will start this summer. tl;dr - YOU CAN DO IT! BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF US OUT THERE!
  5. I was accepted - Yay! Congratulations to everyone who got in and good luck to those on the waitlist!
  6. I am excited to report that I have been accepted, as well! Does anyone have any advice on how to now pay for it?
  7. hello! i just wanted to check in with the second degree applicants (not the bsn/msn folks) to see if anyone has heard about an interview. It is very close to their interview deadline (Jan 23rd), and I have not yet heard anything. While I will certainly wait out the rest of the days before I give up hope I was just curious to see if anyone else had been interviewed from our group. Thanks and good luck to all!
  8. Hello! I was accepted as well! I am waiting to hear from a few other schools before I make a final decision, but I am incredibly excited to possibly become a member of Drexel's Fall 2012 cohort. Congratulations to all those who have been accepted and best wishes to those who still have yet to hear!
  9. Hello all! I also applied to this program and am keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to all!
  10. Hello everyone! I received a letter stating that after a preliminary review of my application, the committee decided that they wanted to see more information before they make a decision so they are asking that I send my transcripts after I finish my class this semester. I am taking A and P Part A this semester so I can understand their desire to see the grades for such an important class. Did anyone else receive this letter too?
  11. Hello everyone! I've read a bunch on here about people who applied to MSN specialties receiving interviews. Has anyone who applied to only the BSN portion heard back regarding interviews? I know that the email said BSN Second Degree Candidates would hear between November 7, 2011 and January 23, 2012, but I was just curious.
  12. Hello all, I have not yet heard back either. Do we know when we should be hearing admissions decisions for the fall 2012 start if we applied before the deadline?
