New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
Don't be, it is cheaper to take first the BP in the long run and faster to be registered if you have the IELTS. I know of a lot of IELTS takers who took it for so many times. You will get it right the next time.

God is good. A former co-worker will help me with my Saudi doc processing. She said she spoke to the Saudi liason officer of the Saudi Council of my ex hospital and said it will take 2-3 weeks for the doc to be ready. Will pay 400 SR for that doc. i think the 100sr goes to mailing service. Alhamdullilah!!!

True. So its an eye opener for all even if helped by someone to do research. I was sent by my case officer a copy of page 1 and with instruction to sign it. So that is truly new in the new form.

I need help. I need a Certificate of Good Standing from Saudi. I'm formerly from Jeddah. There were different posts here but I'm wanting to know anyone here who was able to go through the process of securing one and already received his/her AHPRA papers. Thanks, thanks a lot. I have 90 days to do this.

If in the updated CV you would be including additional certificates to that effect, then by all means submit notarized copies.

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
this is the reference letter issued me by my headnurse. some details were changed to whom it may concern: re: ms. juana dela cruz registered nurse date: may 2, 2012 this certifies that ms. dela cruz joined the staff of king johnson hospital from march 1, 2001 to march 30, 2012 on a full time basis. king johnson hospital has 450 beds. she was assigned at the medical unit. she was a safe practitioner and a hard worker with a good attendance record. she is very professional and was one of our charge nurses. please do not hesitate to call me if i can be of any more assistance. i wish ms. delacruz all the best in her future endeavours. luzviminda santos head nurse - medical unit tel no: +0253531 note that the letter did not include "detail the experience gained in the role e.g. clinical, education, research, management" so i guess prior to the endorsement, you may want to add: as a staff, she was required to attend bi-monthly continuing education on hospital policies and issues, like medication administration, infection control, etc. she also represented the unit in the "symposium on new trends in diabetes mellitus." likewise, her skills were enhanced by doing rotation duties in other wards at least once a month.

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
Arggggh! Prior to sending out the above message, i thought all was okay. i received yesterday my assessment letter and states among others that I need to submit a coe whether my employment was full time or part time. My agency having handled many successful applicants before would have notified me of this and im confident they know their job. it seems that these developments may have been new issues? Since apparently most are recent ones? TAke note that as of march 27, 2012, there is a new AGOS form where we have to sign both 1st and last pages . . . . . and notarized docs should include the notary'scontact number. Im not sure if the later is a new thing. Any feedback on this?

Mine was sent to melbourne, vic There's another issue all of you have to check. There is a new AGOS form effective march 27, 2012. In that new form, the first and the last page has to be signed by applicant and dated. I submitted the form where the signature is only on the last page. @ leighaley, i wont say that your docs will be returned, might depend o on your case officer, Im not really sure if the contact number issue is also a new one. Philman would not have sent the docs if they were incomplete right?

hi. i submitted my docs to Philman March 18. AHPRA sent me an email of Receipt of Documents on April 16. I received my assessment letter yesterday. Sadly, there area lot of things that needed to be corrected. PLEASE CHECK YOUR NOTARIZED DOCUMENTS. Ensure that the contact number of the notary Public is indicated. The samplesent out to us by Philman did not include the CONTACT NUMBER.

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
Hi. What I submitted were photocopies of all my documents(except the ielts and prc Cert of Good standing) which were notarized. Im not sure if the seal would be visible in the xerox copy so I guess the letterhead would have been enough. Not sure though.

Tell me about yourself...ugh!
Basically an integral part of an interview. Interviewers are trained to look for strengths and weaknesses of a possible candidate deserving employment. How one speaks, gesticulates, content of responses give the HR personnel or employer an insight of the person which may not be seen on the submitted Resume. It is also an opportunity to validate the contents of the CV.

Is attending a patient's funeral overstepping "the" boundary?
Thanks for the insight, will keep this in mind

Patients overstaying their welcome in hospitals
this is especially true with KSA public hospitals. There's an ICU long stay conscious patient of more than 10 years. In my ward, there's this general's mom who was admitted two years prior to my arrival and still there 6 years later.

Saudi- MOH
Know the difference between applying in an agency and directly with POEA (MOH/SRO). I believe that when applying in an agency, you get to choose your destination which does not usually happen when you apply with the MOH. There are more perks offered to MOH nurses too. There are hospitals that give meal allowances in cash or kind. Agency fee is generally 1 month of your contract salary while its "almost" free with POEA. Working in Saudi as a nurse in general is very safe. . . just follow the rules and do not accept offers as a household private nurse not unless you know your prospective employer. Its not being biased, but it's safest to be in an institution.
