  1. What is the website for the exams that you got on exam edge? I went to exam edge.com and the site looks funky. I have been in psych for about 2.5 years . I got the ANCC book... I have to test by December I'm gonna be pushing it
  2. I didn't know there was a basic and an advanced? I know there is the board certified for RNs (the one I am planning on taking) and then one for psychiatric nurse practitioner.. I will have to go back on to their site and take another look
  3. Hi everyone, Planning on taking the ANCC psych exam in the next month to month and a half... Their guide recommends 6 months... Anyone pass with less time studying? Want to try and get my cert before I apply to DNP program in December...
  4. I am in a similar situation at my current job and just has an interview at a hospital who asked me why I wanted to leave. I told her that I love working in LTC but my dream and goal as a nurse is to work in a more acute care setting.
  5. You guys are great :) just got done with interview... Now I'm nervous! I think it went really well. We didn't discuss pay and I forgot to ask, is that a bad thing? I'm not overly concerned about pay because I really think I will like the job. I have heard mixed opinions on when to discuss pay. Some people say to do it after you have an offer? Hopefully I will get good news early next week!
  6. I have a cat like that lol my fiance said to tell them I'm " glorious" lol!
  7. I was asked this question in a previous interview. I answered "honest". I have another interview tomorrow. Wondering what the best responses are for this question. I was also thinking "dependable"
  8. I graduated in December 2011 and very few of my classmates found jobs in a hospital but some did. Most of them were already working.in the hospital. I would still apply to hospitals but don't limit yourself to just hospitals. Some of my classmates are still looking for jobs. I was lucky and found a job in LTC. Research interview techniques and work on your resume and stay positive!

  10. My work recently changed from 12 hour shifts to eight hour shifts . I hate it . Now we are expected to do the same amount of work in less time. Since we have started everyone has been having to stay late to catch up. Two days does not feel like enough time to recover. It seems like errors have increased since we made the change.
  11. I have an interview next week and being a fairly new nurse I feel that I lack in the leadership area. However I don't know if I should state that as my weakness. I am working on it and I do feel more confident than I use to but I don't want it to seem like I can't do my job.
  12. Hello, I just graduated in December 2011 and it's seems nearly impossible to get a job as a new grad in Arizona. I have applied to multiple positions (everywhere from drug rehab, LTC, to hospitals) as well as to new grad programs. No luck so far. I have an interview next week at a medical billing office doing Utilization Review. I feel torn because I really want to do hands on care but I feel like I should take what I can so I can start using my license and at least have experience doing something. I figure I can keep applying to hospitals while I work there until something I really want to do comes up. Anyone have any advice on whether or not I should take this job?? What all do utilization nurses do? What is the average starting pay? Thanks!!
