Yeah they expect you to know how your meds work and whatnot. They were very friendly I felt.

Yeah I agree. They were hard to read. Many of the students go to the hospital I work at and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Yeah they asked me that. I said I didn't think it would add to my clinical experience but that I'm interested in going back down the road.

They said they'd let us know by the end of the month. I thought it went well, but the actual interview was pretty short.

I've heard the interview itself is relatively short. It sounds like they put you together with the other candidates for awhile. I'm not sure what the actual interview format is, but I do not believe it's super clinical.

It's scheduled for August 7th. Just from the wording of the email, I'm guessing they have multiple interview days.

Hi! I've had two years of Neurosurgical ICU experience at an academic medical center with cross training in SICU. I have a 3.74 GPA, my GRE scores are 165 verbal, 157 Quant, and 4.5 writing. I also have my CCRN, CNRN, and PALS.

Hi All, I'm currently in the process of getting ready to apply to a couple of CRNA programs. One of them requires three letters of recommendation, one of which has to be from a professional reference who is not an immediate supervisor. I have three options. The director of professional development for nursing at my hospital, a nursing educator, or one of the neurosurgery residents I work closely with (I'm in the neurosurgical ICU). Which one of those do you feel would be the best letter of recommendation to send from an admissions stand point? Thanks for your replies in advance!

Thanks for the reply! I have shadowed once but I plan on doing it again and I am currently studying for the GRE. The SICU at my hospital has a really diverse patient population that focuses heavily on hemodynamics and uses swanz and all that jazz.

Hi all, I'm just looking for some opinions and perspectives on what you think would be best for me to do make myself more competitive for admission to CRNA school. I'm basically just going to give you a brief rundown of my resume I was a good student undergrad, I graduated my four year program in three years (carried over a bunch of credits from community college) with a 3.74 GPA Cum Laude. I worked on a neuroscience floor/stepdown in one of the largest academic medical centers in the country in the northeast. I've been working in a Neuro ICU for almost a year now, but I'm also "clustered" with SICU. This means I'm getting trained in SICU for a couple of weeks so that I can float there on occasion. My questions is, once my year in the Neuro ICU is up should I switch to the SICU full time for a couple of years before I apply? The one downside I see with this is that I won't be with the same manager and that it might set me back a year in applying to school. I'm signed up for the CNRN exam and once I'm eligible I'll also be signing up for the CCRN exam. I'm a member of Sigma Theta Tau and AACN. Is there anything else I should be doing to make myself more competitive? Thanks.
