BSN isn't really needed in TN?
the pay for everything is less here in TN, BUT the cost of living is also a lot cheaper than it is in NY. BSN is slowly starting to make its way in TN. I am only a student, but looking at job openings for a few years I have noticed some require a BSN. Give it time, if you really need to make more money go to middle or west TN or back to NY.

Worried about my nursing supplies!?
I will for sure put name tags on all items! I plan on being polite as I don't want my professors to think I am rude and not professional. I will most likely not make them friends though. I hope that these supplies make a difference in the way I hear things and such after all that is why I bought them :)

Worried about my nursing supplies!?
Thanks so much for the comment and advice!! These students do seem really immature to me, last I checked we were in college apparently they missed that memo! I hope my professors are impressed (not that I am trying to impress anyone!) I can not wait to get started and using my supplies!! Thanks for the good luck wishes! I will have to hunt out the mature students :)

Are these sneakers acceptable for nursing school?
These are the shoes I got Google Product Searchhey aren't white but we are allowed to have white, ceil blue, or navy. Body fluids can't soak through these I don't think they have like a slick exterior that seems like it would roll off instead of sitting on it. Hope you find something!

Preparing for Teas V (need some advice)
My best advice is to order the book from ATI for the TEAS V study guide. I did the book and did the 2 online pactice tests from ATI. If you can pass the online ones you are good to go for the actual test itself. The online practice exam is harder than the test I thought. The science portion of mine was a lot of physical science which I haven't had since oh I dont know 8th grade! so I had some trouble with it since I had been taking chemistry courses and micro.

Worried about my nursing supplies!?
Here is the deal I start my 1st semester of nursing school Monday woohoo!! I am already super nervous but yet very excited! My 1st semester I have the usual health assessment, communication for health professionals, fundamentals, etc. Anyways........ I have talked to a few of my fellow classmates and everyone went out and got a stethoscope at walmart, BP stuff at walmart, etc. I have NOTHING against this I have been truly blessed to have such a wonderful fiance' and have saved money back myself as well I have a littman cardio III stethoscope, and a Welch Allyn tycos sphygmomanometer I am very lucky to have these and my fiance' and myself bought these as sort of an investment as we expect these to last a long time for me provided they don't get stolen! Plus the BP thing was bought used from a med student I know and it was simply a good deal. My issue is my classmates have kind of made me feel like I have a snotty attitude about these as they asked me what type of supplies I have so I named those two items off to them ( I wasn't like OMG! I have this this and this only top of the line stuff you know) I just stated I have a littman stethoscope and a Welch Allyn BP since they asked. Well now no one really likes me that much and have been saying stuff like "the snotty rich kid", etc. I am in no way shape or form a rich kid! I don't consider myself snotty either and neither do my friends outside of school. I just think I am truly lucky and blessed to start school with nice things. Should I leave the nice stuff at the house now that we already spent money on it or just take it to school and be lucky I have such things? I hate everyone already hates me! This is not what I was expecting! What should I do? 3/4 of me says just ignore them, but the 1/4 of me says are my instructors going to hate me because I have nice things?

Did I make the right decision :/
Thank you all for all of your wonderful and helpful input !! This has made me feel a lot better about my decision to attend the public state school they are accredited and a BSN program. Thanks so much again everyone !!

Did I make the right decision :/
I got accepted into 3 different nursing programs all BSN. I got accepted into ETSU (east TN State University), King College Bristol,TN, and Lincoln Memorial University. I ended up picking ETSU because it is so much cheaper since it is public. Does private really offer any plus's to public universities job wise? I can complete ETSU and be debt free when I graduate! with LMU or King I will have student loans. Does going to private schools increase better job opportunities? Does anyone have any opinions on this? I plan on going back to school after I graduate to get my DNP or CRNA. Anyone have any input in this? I am so nervous I didn't make the correct decision....... I can still get my admission to LMU and King if need be. Any one have any thoughts?

SCALE DRAMA
I always try to not make my nurse wait since I know she is in a hurry. All I do is put my purse down because I know it weighs a ton! Granted I am not a nurse yet, I start RN school this fall. Anyways, earrings aren't going to make that much difference I personally do not think lol. I just put my purse down and roll with it. The number isn;t going to change by 5lbs from taking all my clothes off and ring, etc.

East TN-Nursing Schools...
There is ETSU and King College. King is more expensive but has great scholarships they offer. ETSU's program is good from what I hear I plan on going.

Who's taken the teas v?
I took the TEAS V and did well except for the Science. The Science KILLED me!!! It was awful. For me it was a lot of physical/earth science and some organic chemistry and chemistry. My advice to anyone is study the Science in the ATI book the ATI book really helped me with the math. I ran out of time int he math section and missed some very simple questions because I worked so slowly in the beginning to make sure the got the answers correct and not make any "stupid" mistakes. Seriously though study the science.

East Tennessee State University VS King College
anyone have any input??

East Tennessee State University VS King College
I have been accepted into East Tennessee State University and King College, I am now trying to decide where I should go!! I know ETSU is a lot cheaper, but money luckily is not an issue. Does anyone have any info on ETSU and King's nursing programs? I want to go to the "best" one as I would like to have a job when I graduate. Do employers look at you any different if you graduated from King vs ETSU? Which program is better and why? Does anyone know the pass/fail percentage for each college? Which college prepares you more for the work force? Any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks everyone!

Can't get into Nursing school advice anyone?
Okay I have been in college since 2008 (I did the dual enrollment thing) where you take college courses while still in high school. I started college full time when I graduated from high school in 2010. My GPA is currently 3.57 overall (I have no clue what my cumulative GPA is or how to figure that up) The current school I am at declined my admission b/c my GPA was not high enough. Then I went and took the TEAS V exam. not really that hard except the science part it was all about earth science that section KILLED me. I got an overall score of 68% not that great but higher than the average. I did really well on the math, reading, and English part. Anyways back to my original point! I am taking Chemistry this semester, as well as Spanish, a lifespan course and a psychology course. the other school I am applying to requires Spanish, Chemistry, and Lifespan. So far I have an A- in Chemistry we've only had 1 test so far. I have an A- in Spanish , and an A in Lifespan. I feel like no matter how hard I try it is never good enough. I use to think a 3.57 GPA was great now I am starting to think 3.8 is great 3.57 is a failure. I am getting really bummed out. Any of you all have any tips to help boost my GPA out a little? If I do not get accepted this time (I should know in June) I am going to take the TEAS V over. I have a B in A&P 1&2 , a B- in microbiology , and an A- in prob & stats. (did I mention I really HATE minuses next to grades!! I was 4 points from a B in micro and seriously 2 point from an A in prob and stats. the prob and stats one really ticked me off! I had a 97 before the final in prob & stats and got a 86 on the final I needed an 88. GRR anyways If anyone has any ideas on how to help me or any schools to apply for I would greatly appreciate the thought. I want a 4year school so I can get my BSN work for a few years then go back to school and try for Nurse anesthetist program (as that is what i really want to do) I live in the Tennessee Area. My school is ETSU (east Tennessee state university), the school I really want into is King College as they have smaller classes and I think that will work to my advantage.

NCLEX Studying questions?
Hello everyone for those of you who have taken the NCLEX what can I expect? Which study books helped the best? Also, I keep hearing about passed with 75 questions! Does the test stops at 75 questions or does it keep going or what? Is that all the questions you have to do? Sorry, but I am a complete newbie to this and want to start studying early so I can be well prepared! Thanks!!

TEAS exam scores?!
My adjusted individual score was a 68.7% as well! I have no idea if this is good or not. My highest was readying with a score of 92.9% putting me in the 98th percentile yay! :) Math I got a 73% Science I received a 50% and English since I am AWFUL at spelling I received 60% I am really hoping my score is good enough, at this point I have no idea. I knew my science was going to be low. Math just made me very upset because I knew the material but I ran out of time due to the fact I worked slowly to make sure I got the answers correct. best of luck to you! Let us know if you got accepted. I have a 3.57 GPA so hopefully this all combined will help me out some!

TEAS test in 7 days :/
So I just found out yesterday from the school that I am applying to for nursing that their TEAS V test options were today (2/8/12) or next week 2/15/12. Talk about being mad! I was like really you tell me 1 day before when the dang test is !? So, I opted to take it the 15th. I have a Chemistry test tomorrow and then a medical terminology test Monday then the TEAS. I am SO nervous!!! I've been reviewing the book from ATI and the online practice quizzes from ATI. Science = my worst nightmare!!! Math I am ok at and eniglish I am good, reading I am convinced there is no right answer just a "best" answer. Anyone want to give me some insight on what this test is like? I am super nervous this is my 2nd time applying for the nursing program 1st time taking the TEAS test. though. I really really need to get accepted for this Fall. HELP!!
