Rejection stinks :/
Today was a day where I laughed at myself over my growing frustration with this job market. I felt like doing the frustrated punch dancing scene from Footloose with Kevin Bacon. I just have to laugh and keep plugging away at this point...

Ca BRN Website License check?
I took NCLEX-RN on Oct 18 and my license posted by the 26th on BreEZe. I thought it was going to take 2 or 3 weeks like other people and was really surprised when my license popped up a week later. Thank goodness the PVT and getting the "good pop up" kept my anxiety down.

Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2013
You are required to take the TEAS V during the first few weeks of the core nursing courses after you complete the online theology courses. So, for the summer cohort which starts in August you would take it sometime during your first couple weeks of class. They also require you to take a critical thinking exam. Both tests are only for the staff to help further evaluate students. The TEAS and the critical thinking test DO NOT have grades or any real importance. Just get through them and get ready for the actual nursing classes. Congrats again to those accepted. Get ready for the "fun" to start quickly after the theology courses end.

Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2013
The program so far has been intense. First semester is jam packed and you are fighting to find time to do everything. Our little motto (thanks doulajess) was "surviving is thriving" without rambling on, the workload will push you to your limits. The professors are willing to help and will make time to help. At times they contact you before you contact them if you are struggling. As far as the overall experience it boils down to the people I am with on this journey. The members of my cohort have become my school family. They are people I rely on and count on to make it through. I had some rough days and it was the good friends I made in my cohort that helped get me through. I would suggest doing the same with yours. You will lean on eachother and need eachother when you need a boost. I love my wife and child and they are the reason I fight everyday for this goal, but it's these people in the trenches that make it bearable. See, I knew I would ramble.

Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2013
Personally, I have seen many Concordia grads at most of my clinical sites. From what I seen and the people I have talked to Concordia grads are not having that difficult of a time finding jobs.

As someone who has been where all of you are at and gone through it, good luck to everyone who applied. I'm sure everyone is anxious to hopefully receive the interview invitation. The invitations will come soon enough. Good luck, hopefully you guys get good news.

Correct. You are automatically enrolled into the theology classes after you are accepted into the program. You take them before the core nursing courses begin. So, if you are accepted to the summer 2013 cohort (cohort 11) you would begin your theology courses some time late May or Early June and finish them before you begin the core nursing courses which should start late August.

My push to the finish line!
My previous post was my experience and it worked best for my family and goals. Take the advice of others, but you will know what you can and can't handle. Use these nursing forums to your advantage. Many people on here with experience and knowledge to guide you. They helped me and I just read the dialogue between people picking up tips and nuggets of info here and there.

My push to the finish line!
I did it, you can too. I am currently in a ABSN program. Before I was accepted, I took: AP1, AP2, Chem 101, nutrition, developmental psych online, interpersonal communication during spring semester spread across 3 different colleges. Summer load: Abnormal psych, micro, org/biochem. Fall: stat, wait for nursing school interview invitations to be sent out. Following spring: nursing school interview and eventual acceptance. Like I said, I did it, others can too. I knew it would be hard, but that's why it feels so good knowing I'm in nursing school now and it feels great. You can do it, don't ever let anyone say you are crazy or that you can't. Just wait till you get that big beautiful envelope with those magic words inside "congratulations! You have been accepted to....." the hard work and long nights of studying will be worth it and you will let the satisfaction of your hard work wash over you as you get ready to embark on a new journey. Good luck!

Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2012
Prepare. Prepare to be challenged, tested and have your world become nursing school. Since the start of the program my foot has not come off of the gas pedal. That is what it takes to stay ahead and not fall behind. Those who seek this program mainly want to get done ASAP and do it at a great university. Concordia will get you to your goals and they want you to succeed. Not just because they want thier NCLEX pass rates to be high, which they are, but they really take the time to sit and counsel each person. So, the classes are tough, but we know that because it's a accelerated program. The great thing is the people who are in the program with you. I can honestly say that when I came to the program i thought I would get in ,get straight A's, and get out. I told myself it's all business and get through it. I did really well in pre reqs and had a good amount of healthcare experience. A few months in and I have decent to good grades, but the people have become my school family. They are the icing on the cake and make the stress of school tolerable. Now that we are in and going through this we love to encourage, help, and see eachother succeed. Besides my wife and son, my school family has become my biggest cheerleaders. Enjoy yours, you will need them so so so much. I can't say enough good things about them and how amazing they are. Ok, so, first semester is hard and it will push you to your limit. The classes are hard because you will go from having answers which are obvious and easily recognized during pre reqs to nursing school questions that will test your critical thinking skills and you may have 3 right answers and your job is to pick the MORE right answer. Your head will spin because you will try to justify all 3 or 4 answers as to why they are the more right answer and before you know it your time to take the test has flown by. Enough rambling and run on sentences. The program is tough, the people are great, get ready for your world to literally become all about nursing school. ** PM me if you want more specifics or an answer to a certain question.

-BeesMama, I would call again in a bit just to get a clear answer. -bbbbb2013, the classes are fairly demanding. They are online which helps, but we still have discussion boards, a few pages to type and quizzes. Mix in the reading, which is a good amount and the class becomes fairly demanding. Lets keep in mind we all have different schedules so the word demanding can be different for each person. I have a family which likes to be active in the summer with getaways, beach trips and hanging by the pool, to me, the classes are fairly demanding.
