She is my stepmother. She had a a lymph biopsy of the left arm 3 years ago. In the last 2 mos she noticed SOB and edema to the left arm. She had an abdominal CT yesterday and blood work. I am just trying to get some idea of where she is health wise.

the pt states the breast cancer is gone 3 years. what else causes the swelling now. she had the surgery 3 years ago.

I was asking because a nurse said I couldnt turn the pt on the left side to change the bed because of left-sided chf. this pt had right-sided which I think means the left ventricle stopped pumping and moved to the right side. he is on pharmacological tx but I wanted to about putting a pt on the side also because i read that the ventricle begins filling with blood. what condition then can you not put the pt on the side.

Pt. history: GERD, hiatel hernia, type 2 diabetes, neuropathy, just diagnosed with CAD and right-sided CHF. Left-sided and right-sided CHF. If left side, do you avoid turning the pt. onto the left side because of blood in the ventricle? It worsens when it goes to the right side. So can the pt. be on either side with right-sided CHF. Prognonsis?

Hi, 2 questions actually on this topic: 1. When you go to bathe a pt with a tube feeding, do you put the machine on pause until you bathe the patient and change the bed. How far up do you leave his head? 2. Can someone explain the NG flush to me?

After going into nursing and looking at the wooleybuggers under the microscope, I don't ever want my nails long again. Just thinking of holding the kids or putting my hand on a sandwich and then into my mouth! oh, i get nauseated thinking about it

Hi, My teacher says give insulin R and 8 NPH say 7 a.m.. regular peaks in a couple of hours and NPH approaching peak about noon. Dr. has SS 200> BS give 2 units Regular. She says if you give the SS when you test the BS about 11:30 a.m. the patient may go into insulin shock. the NPH continues for a few more hours. can anybody explain how this works so that I can truly understand when to give it. My lab is MONDAY. Need to pass for our capping ceremony

I am a type 2 diabetic and just starting into the nursing program. Last night I vomited until there was nothing in my stomach. I drank a regular coke and chicken broth and ice water. Just kept running to the bathroom. i ended up at the ER and all they said was it would be a 13 hour wait so I left. But she said i wasn't suppose to take the sugar. My friends little boy died during flu season as he could not hold down food and his BS went to low. What are you supposed to do during flu season

I know that optimum is 120/80 for b/p. but my instructor is asking if i checked my vitals on pulse and apical because they aren't making sense. I really don't know what when the pulse or apical is good or bad in connection with the blood pressure. could somebody help with this

Go to school in California. My current problem is writing a Nanda and then supporting it, what the patient will do and the result. It is very difficult for me to get that mind set. I too take notes, only with a pda and keyboard. I type 74 wpm. Use to be higher. Yes, I have people asking for notes. Do you still have your notes?

In our school we would never discuss a patent's condition even with another student. How could it possibly be ok for you to talk to the pateint's family about his condion or care?

I notice that you answer many posted questions and it is really great that you do that. In fact, I just posted a response but I just noticed it wasn't for this answer. I find that most people in our class are quite frankly rude. The teacher only responds to those students who don't ask many questions and get high grades, which is a low number. the rest she intimidates with: I answered that question in lecture, during lecture if you ask a question "get a tape recorder" if you are not one of the favorite few, and after school, I don't get paid overtime. Most of the students don't want to look like they don't know all the answers so they circle it and find the answer some place else. I think the teacher is wrong! She says it is her responsibilty to give the information and yours to grasp it! The teachers love to tell the class how students they lost during a particular section of a module. Stress. In our school, they kicked out 2 students within 3 months of finishing, not because they didn't pass the tests or turn in assignments, no, they just decided they "don't have it together in their clinical notebooks". To me, they should not be allowed to do that. This program is too long and there are too many sacrifices. After we paid, they say that they can kick us out if we fail 2 tests in a 2 year period or for no reason except they want to kick you out. Anyway, good study advice and I think I will take you up on it.

Perfect answer. That is helpful... Also, on the students helping? forget it! I had one girl staying with me as she lived too far away and now that she isn't she can't be bothered to study together as she is too smart. She just makes up excuses and rationalizes I 'm not ready to study with them
