Sacred Heart University - Online MSN Programs
A little late, but I wanted to add this. I enrolled in 2012 into the Sacred Heart ADN-BSN-MSN program, I had nothing but great things to say, until I entered the masters program. At that time, they also rolled out a FNP program. I reached out to my advisor to enquire how i could enter the program/was it possible or do post graduate certificate. My advisor was nothing btu rude, telling me she didn't recommend me for the program based on my academic performance!!! (FYI my lost grade was in religion ZZZZZ b-) !!!!! When i told her i planned to transfer out to get into a different FNP program, she said obviously sacred heart wasn't the place for me. WHAT?!

I wasn't accepted. I was told my grades in A and P from 09 was "not the best" and I could retake them and reapply. Wow. Disappointed for sure, looking elsewhere.

Nursing@Simmons
Got my letter today that i was NOT accepted. Really bummed, no reason was given. My admissions rep is on vacation for two weeks too. Very bummed. I feel I had a strong essay, and great recommendations.

Hey Tasha, and PNW thanks for your posts! I just applied today for the September cohort. I've been deciding what i'm going to be doing with my job if I get accepted! I currently work a case management job M-F 9-5. What are you guys finding about working full time? Are there classes you need to be logged in to during the day? Do they give you specific days for clinicals? Any feed back is appreciated! Thanks!

Letters of recommendation
So you sent 3 letters not from a NP? Were you accepted into the program?

Letters of recommendation
Glad to see i'm not the only one having trouble with this! I did my RN-BSN online, and I work in home hospice, so we are all RN's no NPs in my office. I placed a phone call to the admissions rep from Simmon's who told me to try my best, but i'm stressing over finding someone! Any one have other suggestions? I don't want my application to be denied because of the lack of recommendation. ARGH !

Well see that's the thing. It isn't "REQUIRED" it's recommended. I don't have any NP's I've worked with, or presently work with.

To those who applied at simmons, under your references did you list a FNP or Masters prepared nurse? I am in the process of working on my application and I don't have a FNP or masters prepared nurse I can use as a reference. Instead I was going to use a colleague who can speak on my behalf. Do you think this will negatively impact me?

simmons online fnp
Hey all! Question about your application. For the references it asks for 3. The last one is recommended to be from a NP or masters prepared nurse. I don't have a NP I work with, or follow. I'm wondering if that is going to hurt my application. Instead of a NP or masters i'd use a nurse I've worked with for years. What are your thoughts on this? The rep from simmons suggested i try to find a NP but i don't want to stress over this.

NJ Disorderly Persons Charge
I know this thread hasn't been active for a bit but i wanted to chime in. I went to LPN school in nj about 3-4 years ago. The school ran the background check, nothing came up. I took my NCLEX-PN in NY(had a job there at the time), no problems. Transferred my license to NJ end of 09 beginning of 2010, NOTHING came up. I applied for a job in a LTC facility in NJ, got hired, and shortly after received a phone call from HR saying something showed up on my background. A disorderly persons from 2005!!! They said unfortunately they couldn't hire me unless i got a written letter from a lawyer stating what the charge was, and all this other nonsense. I didn't have time to deal with that or the money, as i was enrolling in a RN program. The RN program ran another background, NOTHING came up, i was able to start the program. Completed the program, took my NCLEX RN in NY, just got it carried over into NJ. NOTHING CAME UP in my background. Now here's where i'm worried, i have job interviews lined up in NJ, i'm worried my "disorderly persons" will show up, and they won't hire me. No one likes the story "when i was young and stupid i swiped something." I just reached the point where i can expunge the record, but thats a lot of money, and until i get a job, i can't do it. So what do i do? Tell the job ahead of time? Wait for that dreaded call from HR? How come this LTC facility last year was able to see that charge, but nothing was flagged with NJ?!
