I am applying for the 10/26 start date and was required to find my own preceptor and have approval before being enrolled in classes. My preceptor/site was approved today. That's a huge stress relief. As far as I know, you have to find your own preceptor.

Do not go to nursing school if you're uncomfortable with genitalia.You will see it at some point/ in some fashion.

I started my nursing program when I was 22 will graduate (hopefully) in may at 23. My best friends in the nursing program are 39 and 40. It's never too late!!

Yes, I work when I can. I am a bartender so I get my own shifts but others work in the program. It's easier to work during the first semester. The second semester needs more study time. The summer is VERY FAST, only 6 weeks for 2 classes and clinical. It would be hard to work. I am not sure about the rest of the semesters yet. Ive heard the fourth semester is pretty easy and not demanding but the last is killer. If your job is willing to work with you and you make a very strict schedule, you can make it work.

No, you don't submit fingerprints until the last semester. The background check took like a week to get the results in. They will email you a copy.

I live in Dickinson (green caye). I love it here. The books from the bookstore for the first semester totaled 1800. I bought many used/older editions, I spent 600. The scrubs are about 40 dollars (Cherokee red scrubs) and the patch for the Scrubs are 8 dollars in the bookstore. I only bought one set so far ( 3 semesters in). You do go to clinical in the first semester but only in the second 8 weeks. No problem. I don't mind the questions, ask me anything.

I completely understand. I hated not knowing and just "waiting". After the letter of intent due date is when they'll start calling alternates, usually 2 weeks or so, maybe a bit longer. Feel free to ask me any questions!

hey y'all, I am in the class that was accepted in Fall 2012. I received my acceptance letter 6 days after the end of the application period. There will be a list of immunizations you will need, titers, CPR certification, background check, and drug test registration and some of those are time consuming/ time sensitive. Make sure you do them EARLY, if you titer negative you'll have to get a booster vaccination, and titer again 6 weeks later. You'll get information about that with the acceptance letter. Thursday morning, my first day of nursing school, I was sure I would NEVER get a rolling backpack... Friday morning I was cruising around with my brand new roller. :)

The clinic I am talking about doesn't do titers though, that's why I thought we were talking about different ones.

The clinic the PP is talking about has a agreement with COM for the titer so we get a waiver. They charge more for the vaccine because we don't have a waiver for that vaccine. Try the health distric clinic off 45 and 517 (its in the shopping center with baskins) it's 10 if you can pay at that time, if not they will do it for free. They won't turn you away.

I am about to start purchasing books for nursing school and I am trying to save some money by buying the older editions of the books I need. Do you think this will hinder me in the nursing program?

I have a pair of comfy slacks I'm going to wear with a cute top. I think that should be good... Everyone remember your social security card and ID!!
