  1. Don't wine so much we all just need to be brave and feel as miserable as possible and don't stand up for yourself and your HEALTH. YOU just need to be BRAVE. Those who are that brave I some how feel they are eating the young and watching a good nurse try her best and instead of being helpful sit and crack jokes about it.
  2. I am working on getting back to school next semester. I want to go for physical therapist because I do like helping people, but nursing is just a lot of politics to me, I hope this path is better and a little less stressful.
  3. I have gained a lot of weight, like 60 pounds in a year currently depressed because of the weight gain and a lot of my co-workers are on prozac or ativan. :zzzzz
  4. Does anyone know of any online LPN-RN courses around the Houston, TX area, I have considered excelsior but I think I would like to go to a local hospital for clinicals. Thanks:wink2:
  5. Hi everyone, I graduated from LPN school in April 2007 passed the boards in June, started working in a LTC facility on weekends, so far that's all I have done. I live in TN and thinking of moving. Taking prereqs for LPN-RN program

I worked with a older nurse and she would always say, there goes that baby or that baby went down the hall. She always refered to me as a baby and that got under my skin. I put up with it for months, then one day after she spoke to me (hey little baby) I said what's up old lady. She never said that to me again.lol I'm 28 by the way.
  7. I know its easier said, but don't get too stressed some is good, just do what you're doing brush up on rusty areas, you'll be fine. I don't remember anything mine stopped at a wierd 92 questions but I passed, I cried all day thinking I failed but I didn't. Hang in there.

I have never understood the difference between LVN/LPN.
  9. Thanks, I was thinking of moving to Florida or Texas.

Well this is probably an old question, I live in TN and I'm thinking about moving down to Texas, what's the pay in LTC start in Texas.
  11. Hi, I live in TN and would like to move to another state, just need some info about pay rates for others states. Whats the highest paying state for LPNs? Its not Florida!!
  12. I agree with mifligirl, I work a 16 and 2-8 hour shifts, that was the only way i was able to handle my floor. All the nurses on my floor stated they couldn't handle even 4 days with 8 hours to work.
  13. I agree with rn/writer, older nurses may be a little irritated about failing stamina, I would love to have the experience they have. A lot of older nurses have made some great changes in the way nurses are treated, sometimes they are the ones who can go to a nurse manager and talk to her in a way that will get her to listen in ways the manager may not listen to a younger nurse with no experience.
  14. how do you deal with co-workers who bring problems to work. i have been working at a ltc facility for 6 mos, i have also been a nurse for about 4. i have been told i learn fast, everytime i ask her something she just looks at me and say that's your job. i have also been working a floor with no manager or supervisor. we are on our own to learn things. if we have a question we have to call a manager on another floor!!. i think this is a dangerous situation.
  15. I feel the same, in my area we only can look to LTC for employment and it can get really hard to get a job in a facility if you don't have a good reference. I'm currently working towards my RN but I think it is getting really hard to keep employment. Most nursing homes are always understaffed and you have to beg for meds.
